On one angle BEHOLD IS DEAD ON SPOT ON RIGHT . as i too would warn you and all to flee calvin
Sorry, he’s dead on wrong about me being a Calvinist.

Every thing I know, the Spirit has taught me, if what I post agrees with Calvin, then so be it..

I will never ever deny what I believe to be Gods truth relayed to my heart, because it upsets the belief of another, ...I’m here to post what I believe to be God’s truth..and if it is Gods truth, His word will prevail, not my word and not the words of a self appointed prophet.

Rita you might need to be reminded of something .
On one angle BEHOLD IS DEAD ON SPOT ON RIGHT . as i too would warn you and all to flee calvin .
But i am so darn worried for behold too . I have seen errors , dangerous ones come out of him too .
My advice for all of us , for myself , you , him and anyone , START over in the bible and read it for ourselves .
Men have complicated the heck out of stuff . THEY Truly have and they been doing it for a very long time .
You are not being accused , i am simply doing all i do out of great love for all the people .

Amen!

Praise God that we have his full protection, knowing who we are in Christ!

Praise God also, that we are maturing in Christ, there is nothing that can compare to the maturity of Christ.

One of the spiritual gifts God gives the Church is discernment (1 Corinthians 12:10). The Church needs people who are able to discern error since we're called upon to “test the spirits to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).

Short commentary.
What is full maturity in Christ?
We are born into infancy and then must strive toward maturity. Paul tells the Christians in Ephesus that full maturity is God's goal for the Christian and for the church. And he gives them three marks by which to measure their individual and congregational maturity: unity, ministry and discernment.

Ephesians 6:10-18

King James Version

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

You haven't replied to my question about your belief system.
You SOUND Calvinist.....but I'm encountering persons here with odd beliefs....
so I'll hold off until you state your system of belief.

Just quick:
Acts 4:28 is speaking about the death of Jesus and how it brought about salvation.
OF COURSE God planned for our salvation after Adam fell.

ALL CHRISTIANS believe this.

As to Ephesians 2:8 GRACE IS A GIFT. FAITH IS A GIFT. SALVATION IS A GIFT.

Faith is A GIFT.
Someone offers a gift.
Another accepts it.

God DOES NOT FORCE the gift of faith on anyone...
they must accept it.

Read again the part about how we are saved BY FAITH.....
by our faith....
by our believeing.

This requires free will action.
What freewill does a willing slave to sin have?

Have you never read accounts of revivals where people have done all they can to avoid hearing the gospel yet have become Christian.

Have you talked with someone about how they became a Christian
How at one point they had no interest in Christianity, but someone talked with them and how slowly an interest grew until they became a Christian. Could it be that the Spirit wo4ked in them to woo them from the devil into accepting freely Jesus.

Are you so sold on a system you see into the bible that all other views are false?

Windmill Charge....
If you want to discuss Romans chapters 9, 10 and 11, I'd be willing and I'm sure so would @Behold ....
but perhaps you don't understand that it's speaking about Israel....about corporate salvation
AND NOT ABOUT INDIVIDUAL SALVATION.

God bore with great patience the object of His wrath....
THE ISRAELI NATION......

Perhaps you should study up on Romans 9, 10 and 11.

You can start here --- or anyone else that is interested in knowing the NT well.

You need to re read Romans 9:6 It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 8 In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring. 9 For this was how the promise was stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.”

As it says the children of the promise who are God's children, we who are Christian are the children of the promise.

The above is your opinion and does not interest me.
Wooing of the Holy Spirit is not the same as irresistible grace.

Yes. Calvinism is too different.
Either IT is wrong
Or
Every other denomination is wrong.

Including the one to which Augustine belonged which had refused Calvinusm.

Please use scripture if you care to discuss.

Sorry, he’s dead on wrong about me being a Calvinist.

Ritajanice...
You're a calvinist.
Why don't you just grow up and admit to what you believe?

You've been a Christian now for 30 plus years, as you've stated...
and you're still growing?

Well, gee sis.....maybe you should be all grown up by now?

If you believe as John Calvin taught,,,
then you're following the teachings of John Calvin...
NOT
The teachings of Jesus Christ, Paul or any writer of the NT.

Naivete' will not work well on this thread because it's OBVIOUS what John Calvin taught and it's obvious what you believe.

You're a Calvinist through and through...
if you don't like to admit it then there's something wrong with your faith system.

And you are NOT being taught by the Holy Spirit since Calvinism is the ONLY belief system that believes as it does.
You're being taught by John Calvin and those that believe as he does.

The ONLY ones in the entirety of Chistianity that believe the wrong teachings of that man that popularized Calvinism through intimidation.

Please stop playing the innocence card...it becomes tiring.

  • Rom. 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
  • I Cor. 2:10-14 “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
  • 1 Cor. 6:11 “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
  • 1 Cor. 12:3 “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.”
  • II Cor. 3:6 “… who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
  • II Cor. 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
  • II Cor. 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
  • I Pet. 1:2 “…elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.”
2. Sinners, through regeneration, are brought into God’s kingdom and made His children. The author of this new birth is the Holy Spirit. The instrumentwhich He uses is the preaching of the Word of God.

  • John 1:12-13 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
  • John 3:3-8 “Jesus answered and said to him, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born? Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
  • Titus 3:5-7 “…not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
  • I Pet. 1:3, 23-25 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead… having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever. Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.”
  • I John 5:4 “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.”
3. Through the work of the Holy Spirit man is given a new heart (nature) and made to walk according to the will of God. Man becomes a new creature in Jesus Christ.

  • Deut. 30:6 “And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.”
  • Jer. 31:33-34 “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel: After those days, says the LORD, I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD, for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
  • Ezek. 36:26-27 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”
  • Gal. 6:15 “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.”
  • Eph. 2:10, 18, 22 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. …in whom you also are being built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.”
  • II Cor. 5:17-18 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”
4. The Holy Spirit raises man from a state of spiritual death to life.

  • John 5:21 “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.”
  • Eph. 2:1, 5 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, … even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).”
  • Col. 2:13 “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses…”
5. God reveals to His elect the secrets of His kingdom through the inward, personal revelation given by the Holy Spirit.

  • Matt. 11:25-27 “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and he to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”
  • Matt. 13:10-11, 16 “And the disciples came and said to Him, Why do You speak to them in parables? He answered and said to them, Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear.”
  • Matt. 16:15-17 “He said to them, But who do you say that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”
  • Luke 8:10 “And He said, To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.”
  • Luke 10:21 “In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.”
  • John 6:37, 44-45, 64-65 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. And He said, Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
  • John 10:3-6 “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.”

Amigo,,,,you're another one that needs to make up his mind as to what he beleives.
You give Ritajanice likes and you seem to agree with her posts.
Then you post that you DO NOT agree with Calvinism.
Well,,,Ritajanice is a Calvinist and it's not of any use to her to speak by both parts of your mouth.
She needs to understand that she's a Calvinist and that you DO NOT agree with her.
And, if you DO agree with her, then that makes YOU a Calvinist too and it's time you also came to accept it.

Both systems CANNOT be correct because they OPPOSE each other 100%.
So, we all need to make up our minds here and then stick to it.

I DO NOT believe Calvinism is correct because
1. It is not biblical since its doctrines cannot be found in the NT.
2. It DOES NOT have any good news in it and Gospel means good news.
3. NO Early Christians taught what Calvinism teaches....it is a gnostic and heretical belief system.

So, IF someone wants to believe what John Calvin taught....fine.
But please let's stop beating around the bush and admit what we believe.

Your modus operandi RJ.

Nice long verses that MEAN NOTHING to the reader.

You NEVER stop to explain what verses mean.
So your long posts of continuous verses are MEANINGLESS.

It's a wonder to me how anyone can post to you.
You are either totally confused as to what the NT teaches...
or you pretend to be in order to gain attention.

Either one of the above is very unfortunate and, I think, after 30 plus years of being
a Christian....you should be arriving at the point of being sure of what you believe.

But please let's stop beating around the bush and admit what we believe.
i have an idea . ask ritanjanice whether she be a calvnist or not . lets see what she says about that .

Ritajanice...
You're a calvinist.
Why don't you just grow up and admit to what you believe?
Dear @GodsGrace ...I am a Born Again, you have yet to understand the difference.
You've been a Christian now for 30 plus years, as you've stated...
and you're still growing?

Well, gee sis.....maybe you should be all grown up by now?
Praise God, I’m growing in the Spirit, and not the flesh.
If you believe as John Calvin taught,,,
then you're following the teachings of John Calvin...
NOT
The teachings of Jesus Christ, Paul or any writer of the NT.
I will continue as the Spirit leads me to post ,in Jesus Name, Amen!
Naivete' will not work well on this thread because it's OBVIOUS what John Calvin taught and it's obvious what you believe.

You're a Calvinist through and through...
if you don't like to admit it then there's something wrong with your faith system.
Praise God for the gift of discernment.
And you are NOT being taught by the Holy Spirit since Calvinism is the ONLY belief system that believes as it does.
You're being taught by John Calvin and those that believe as he does.
Praise God, that my teacher is the Holy Spirit.
The ONLY ones in the entirety of Chistianity that believe the wrong teachings of that man that popularized Calvinism through intimidation.

Please stop playing the innocence card...it becomes tiring.
Praise God I’m in the Spirit and 100% recognise the flesh.

Have a lovely blessed day, @GodsGrace .

Continuation of scripture.

Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.”
  • John 10:16 “And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.”
  • John 10:26-29 “But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”
  • I Cor. 2:11-14 “For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
  • Eph. 1:17-18 “…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”
