Is Faith A Person?

Faith is not a Person.
Faith typically has Three distinct meanings, each going hand in hand with Trust.

1) is one human carnally (mindfully) having trust in an other humans speech to be truth, actions to be upstanding.
(Example…Child & Parent, Spouse & Spouse, Student & Teacher, Friend & Friend, etc.)

2) is one human carnally (mindfully) having trust in another Person or Thing, Such as a government, a king, an employer, money, agenda, etc.

3) is one human heartfully (spirit in their heart), spiritually having received a “measure” of a GIFT of Faith (truth and belief) From Almighty God…FOR that persons effort…of hearing/reading the Word of God.

Glory to God,

I guess Faith being a person is too far fetched for you. I'm going to continue to mull it over because it is intriguing. It wouldnt be the first time that something Twilight Zone turned out to be true. God has very mysterious ways indeed.

You know the four faced best in scripture which sits by the throne? It has 4 faces, an ox, an eagle, a man and a lion? I wonder what it's name is? Do you think he has a good personality?! He would have to being a servant of God! And doesnt the old testament (Proverbs?) talk about Wisdom stands in the street crying out? Something like that.

Wisdom, Faith, Understanding...they might all have their own personification!

Thanks to all for your perspectives.

On the other hand: There are some Christians who state that “faith” is a verb!

Here is one link: Faith is a Verb, not a Noun - Reflections on John 3:14-21

But if you don’t care to click on this link, they are easy to find yourself by searching on “Is faith a verb?”

Peace

That wasnt very long, I read the link. But in Hebrews 11:1 it says Faith is the substance...
What is a substance? A person, place or thing. Right?

Now what is a noun? A Person, Place, or Thing. Strongs Concordance says subsatnce in the original language is a feminine noun. So I'm going to go with that the lady who wrote the article made a mistake, and the substance of our faith is a person/place/or thing. Maybe even Feminine!

God rewards a man “efforts”….
Hear His word…rewarded with How much you hear…with measures of faith.

Follow after Gods Teachings…
He rewards with blessings.

Do works that Glorify God He rewards with crowns, positions of hierarchy…

Etc.

For me, as a Born Again, I’ve had to grow in spirit knowledge, it’s knowing in one’s spirit that the Spirit indwells us, he is also in every situation of our lives, I have learnt to trust his word and walk in faith.

For instance, I have had a terrible time with AF, I had the faith to believe that God will either heal me of it, or show me what is causing it.

He showed me what was causing it, I haven’t gone into AF for six weeks now,Praise Him for that.

My faith has had to grow / to be understood by me, on what faith is , it’s getting closer and closer to God, just completely trusting only in him and no other.

Just my thoughts.
Blessings Ritajanice. I have been to the hospital 3 times of late because of AFib. If you do not mind, what were you shown what was causing yours?

To much vitamin D Brother, they had me on it for over 6 years,1,000 mg a day. google and you will find what affects Of to much vitamin D causes.
I also have a very high serum calcium level.

Short online commentary Taking too much vitamin D is not good either, as it can lead to hypercalcemia, or high calcium levels, which can also cause irregular heartbeat. Atrial fibrillation (A-fib), one of the most common forms of irregular heartbeat, is a condition in which the heart's upper chambers quiver instead of pump rhythmically.

Can too much vitamin D cause atrial fibrillation?
While previous studies have linked vitamin D deficiency to an increased risk for cardiovascular disease, new research at the Heart Institute at Intermountain Medical Center shows that too much vitamin D can lead to the onset of a dangerous heart condition known as atrial fibrillation.

I’m sorry to hear that you have been in hospital with it, did they put an intravenous line in straight away?

That’s what they used to do to me, as soon as I got to the hospital....also when I came out of Afib, I thought my head was going to explode, maybe because of the lack of oxygen to the brain, not sure, I have written a long list of questions for my heart specialist to answer at my follow up appointment...did they manage to get your Afib down Brother?...or did it right itself?

12 hours my Afib used to last for, it absolutely wore me out..

I’m waiting to also see my heart consultant , I had an echocardiogram, so now waiting for a follow up,appointment.

Praying for you Brother, trust in God, he will bring you through...

Thank you for responding. I was in the hospital because my heartbeat was 150-160. They tried shocking my heart many many times with only one success. But it is back. The cancer medicine they were giving me takes away the calscium for bones so I was taking a suppliment that was vitamin d plus calcium. The intervenus drug they gave me the first time interacts with another cancer medication and causes a dangerous AFib. I am looking for another heart doctor at the moment.

You can say that again. The Lord does reward our obedience, both here and in Heaven.

I almost strted a thread about the crowns yesterday!

We have little clue because we see through a glass darkly.
This is an Appeal to Ignorance. If it cannot be known, then there is no support for the claim that Faith is a person either.

I watched a great vid 6 months ago about how most of Christiandom does appeal to ignorance, claiming mysticism that we see darkly but Scripture is explicit that we can know God, and in fact, knowing him is eternal life. Now, please hear me. Just because I know something (God) does not mean I know everything.

Ever hear the difference between experiential knowledge and academic knowledge? This is a big point of Scripture. A comparison is that we can academically know ABOUT George Washington despite never having the experience of personally knowing him. Knowing God and knowing ABOUT God are not the same thing. No one has to know everything ABOUT God to personally know him. To assert otherwise is an epistemological attack.

Never knew what this meant Brother.

What does through a glass darkly mean in the Bible?
But in 1 Corinthians 13:12 the Bible does not say, "we see through a dark glass." It says, "we see through a glass, darkly." Furthermore, the glass Paul refers to is a looking glass or mirror. "Darkly" means without clear understanding.

I agree , we can’t clearly understand the workings of God.

He even says in his word.

His ways are not our ways.

His thoughts are not our thoughts.

His ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours.

What say you?

Now wait a minute...on this topic, I said I am not being dogmatic because I am merely trying to figure these things out for myself like everyone. So who knows if I am wrong or not? It is not an appeal to ignorance and there most certainly is support for the (Theory) in the Bible itself and in the Concordance, I posted it. Faith is the substance and the concordance says substance can be a "person".

So I dont really want to argue about it, but I think that if you are going to start saying I am definitly wrong then shouldn't you show you proof that it is wrong? Because you havent done that. So the (Theory) is still unproven either way, but it does seem to have support in scripture. So...??

Use scripture and a concordance to refute this theory if you can.

Hey @MA2444 ......remember we are only voicing our opinion, or what we believe the word to be saying.

No one’s opinion/ belief is any more valid than yours or anyone else’s .

Hope you are ok with me posting my opinions..

I say, that is a good reason to believe more of this spiritualized concepts and learn to trust our Lord even more. So we cant understand it completely yet because it is so far above us. So a child doesnt have to understand everything a parent tells them, but the safest thing to do is to just trust the parents! Trust and faith and endure to the end. (Which is really the beginning, but let's not get in over our heads, lol!)

I have done it. You came back with Appeal to Ignorance, which is no proof for your claim.

You asked a question in response to my question. I'd like you to answer it.

There was not literally a women present when God made the universe whose name is Wisdom ... One can have faith, just like any characteristic virtue like courage, punctuality, perseverance. How can faith be a person if another person can have it? Are all virtues and vices a person? If not, why not?

Absoutely, Sister. That's why I posted the thread, I want to hear what people have to say. It's a part of studying. First read and research, then pray and see if there is affirmations or criticisms from others and what is their perspective. So it's all good. :)
