Of course, if you do not believe you are under righteousness of obeying the law,
And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.” Deut6:25There is no verse in a bible that says that "you are under righteousness of obeying the law".
Who are the recipients in Dt. 6.25? Israel-correct?And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.” Deut6:25
Absolutely, christians are not under righteousness of obeying the law:Who are the recipients in Dt. 6.25? Israel-correct?
The penalty of sin brings great fear of sin, and fear of sin, strange as it might seem, brings much allurement to sin. Hence Rom6:14Who are the recipients in Dt. 6.25? Israel-correct?
Deu 6:1 'And this is the command, the statutes and the judgments which Jehovah your God hath commanded to teach you, to do in the land which ye are passing over thither to possess it,
Deu 6:2 so that thou dost fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all His statutes and His commands, which I am commanding thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all days of thy life, and so that thy days are prolonged.
Deu 6:3 'And thou hast heard, O Israel, and observed to do, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest multiply exceedingly, as Jehovah, God of thy fathers, hath spoken to thee, in the land flowing with milk and honey.
Deu 6:4 'Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;
Deu 6:5 and thou hast loved Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might,
Deu 6:6 and these words which I am commanding thee to-day have been on thine heart,
Deu 6:7 and thou hast repeated them to thy sons, and spoken of them in thy sitting in thine house, and in thy walking in the way, and in thy lying down, and in thy rising up,
Deu 6:8 and hast bound them for a sign upon thy hand, and they have been for frontlets between thine eyes,
Deu 6:9 and thou hast written them on door-posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Deu 6:10 'And it hath been, when Jehovah thy God doth bring thee in unto the land which He hath sworn to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to thee—cities great and good, which thou hast not built,
Deu 6:11 and houses full of all good things which thou hast not filled, and wells digged which thou hast not digged, vineyards and olive-yards which thou hast not planted, and thou hast eaten, and been satisfied;
Deu 6:12 'Take heed to thyself lest thou forget Jehovah who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants;
Deu 6:13 Jehovah thy God thou dost fear, and Him thou dost serve, and by His name thou dost swear;
Deu 6:14 ye do not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are round about you;
Deu 6:15 for a zealous God is Jehovah thy God in thy midst—lest the anger of Jehovah thy God burn against thee, and He hath destroyed thee from off the face of the ground.
Deu 6:16 'Ye do not try Jehovah your God as ye tried in Massah;
Deu 6:17 ye do diligently keep the commands of Jehovah your God, and His testimonies, and His statutes which He hath commanded thee,
Deu 6:18 and thou hast done that which is right and good in the eyes of Jehovah, so that it is well with thee, and thou hast gone in and possessed the good land which Jehovah hath sworn to thy fathers,
Deu 6:19 to drive away all thine enemies from thy presence, as Jehovah hath spoken.
Deu 6:20 'When thy son asketh thee hereafter, saying, What are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you?
Deu 6:21 then thou hast said to thy son, Servants we have been to Pharaoh in Egypt, and Jehovah bringeth us out of Egypt by a high hand;
Deu 6:22 and Jehovah giveth signs and wonders, great and sad, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;
Deu 6:23 and us He hath brought out thence, in order to bring us in, to give to us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.
Deu 6:24 And Jehovah commandeth us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for good to ourselves all the days, to keep us alive, as at this day;
Deu 6:25 and righteousness it is for us, when we observe to do all this command before Jehovah our God, as He hath commanded us.

Verse: Romans 10:4Absolutely, christians are not under righteousness of obeying the law:
Christ is the end of the law UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS for everyone who believeth Rom10:4
Rom 3:21&22 echoes Rom10:4In this verse, Paul declares that Christ is the culmination or fulfillment of the law concerning righteousness.
J.
Righteousness Apart from the Law:But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe
I agree, however, under the OC righteousness of obeying the law was ''officially'' in place. Hence Deut6:25, Rom10:4, Rom3:21&22 Under the NC it is notRighteousness Apart from the Law:
"Righteousness of God apart from the law" indicates that God’s righteousness is accessible not through adherence to the law (including the Ten Commandments) but through faith in Jesus Christ. This highlights the shift from a law-based righteousness to one based on faith.
Witness of the Law and the Prophets:
The phrase "being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets" suggests that both the moral law (which includes the Ten Commandments) and the prophetic writings testify to the need for righteousness and point to Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.
The Ten Commandments serve to reveal God's standard of righteousness and humanity's inability to meet that standard perfectly, thus highlighting the need for salvation through faith.
"Even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe" emphasizes that righteousness is granted through faith, available to all believers, regardless of their adherence to the law. This shows the inclusivity of the Gospel and the availability of salvation through Christ alone.
Correct @uncle silas?

Let's see-I agree, however, under the OC righteousness of obeying the law was ''officially'' in place. Hence Deut6:25, Rom10:4, Rom3:21&22 Under the NC it is not
Yes, it seems we agree. Now go to bed, or you'll regret it in the morningLet's see-
Righteousness Under the Old Covenant:
Under the Old Covenant, righteousness was closely associated with obedience to the law, including the moral imperatives found in the Torah. This is encapsulated in Deuteronomy 6:25, which states:
"And it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to do all this commandment before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us."
This verse indicates that adherence to God's commandments was the means by which the Israelites would be deemed righteous in God's sight.
2. Transition in the New Covenant:
Romans 10:4 states:
"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." VERY clear!
This indicates a shift where Christ fulfills the law's requirements, providing a new means of attaining righteousness through faith rather than merely through obedience to the law.
3. Righteousness Apart from the Law:
Romans 3:21-22 further emphasizes this transition:
"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe."
This highlights that righteousness is now available through faith in Christ, independent of the law, although the law and prophets bear witness to this new reality.
Your assertion that "under the OC, righteousness of obeying the law was 'officially' in place" aligns with the biblical texts.
Righteousness was indeed established through law observance in the Old Covenant. However, with the coming of Christ, as indicated in Romans, a new paradigm emerges where righteousness is accessible through faith, fulfilling the intent of the law while transforming the relationship between God and humanity. This reflects the continuity and discontinuity in the biblical narrative concerning God's plan for righteousness.
Agree @uncle silas?

Now I'm wide awake!Yes, it seems we agree. Now go to bed, or you'll regret it in the morning
Then I apologise, it is probably my faultNow I'm wide awake!

I think the difference is "walking in faith" comes from a relationship with God, living "as unto the Lord" (Ro 14:5), thus you lead people to the Lord not to yourself.I find that trying to explain the Law and how The Law is different from works of faith, could be quite difficult depending on who we're speaking to.
What's wrong with it?You teach catechism without being catholic lol
I don't think we ever lead persons to ourself...I'm not even sure what that means.I think the difference is "walking in faith" comes from a relationship with God, living "as unto the Lord" (Ro 14:5), thus you lead people to the Lord not to yourself.
Not saying it's "wrong", it just struck me as odd bc I didn't know Catholic priests would do thatWhat's wrong with it?
If the priest believes it's OK because of my belief system...
I'd say it's OK.
In fact, I know Catholic doctrine...
80% of Catholics don't (or at least a very high percentage).
If you have ever boasted to solicit praise, that would be an instance of leading people to yourself instead of to God.I don't think we ever lead persons to ourself...I'm not even sure what that means.
But yes, walking in faith and having a relationship with God is what is needed.
Even in the OT persons were saved by their faith.
Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness...
Genesis 15
A person could have kept all of the 613 Laws but if he did not believe, the keeping of the laws was useless and, really, not even possible.
They wouldn't....Not saying it's "wrong", it just struck me as odd bc I didn't know Catholic priests would do that
