Christ is the Redeemer

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, [and] ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD
(yehôvâh), and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. (Isa 41:14)

For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Mar 10:45)

Thus saith the LORD (yehôvâh), your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry [is] in the ships. (Isa 43:14)

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luk 21:27-28)

[As for] our redeemer, the LORD (yehôvâh) of hosts [is] his name, the Holy One of Israel. (Isa 47:4)

Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I[am] the LORD (yehôvâh) thy God (el-o-heem') which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way [that] thou shouldest go. (Isa 48:17)

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (Heb 9:15)

Thus saith the LORD (yehôvâh), the Redeemer of Israel, [and] his Holy One (kaw-doshe', kaw-doshe'), to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD (yehôvâh) that is faithful, [and] the Holy One (kaw-doshe', kaw-doshe') of Israel, and he shall choose thee. (Isa 49:7)

He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy (kaw-doshe', kaw-doshe') and reverend [is] his name. (Psa 111:9)

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. (Gal 4:4-6)

For I know [that] my redeemer liveth, and [that] he shall stand at the latter [day] upon the earth: (Job 19:25)

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD (yehôvâh), my strength, and my redeemer. (Psa 19:14)

For their redeemer [is] mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee. (Pro 23:11)

Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. (1Ti 2:6)

Thus saith the LORD (yehôvâh) the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD (yehôvâh) of hosts; I [am] the first, and I [am] the last; and beside me [there is] no God. (Isa 44:6)

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (Rom 3:24)

Thus saith the LORD (yehôvâh), thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I [am] the LORD (yehôvâh) that maketh all [things;] that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; (Isa 44:24)

In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins: (Col 1:14)

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Mat 20:28)

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. (Tit 2:14)

For thy Maker [is ]thine husband; the LORD (yehôvâh) of hosts [is] his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. (Isa 54:5)

Peace.

Those scriptures from Beepster are excellent evidence to the identity of Jesus. Nevertheless, if we are looking to John for reason to believe in the deity of Christ, I tend to think we should go the same route that John took. The fact that Jesus was the only begotten Son...a Son as mentioned before, prior to creation. A true Son, not created, not adopted, but begotten with the precise same nature, attributes, power, name, and authority as His Father. I think a good analogy is to portray the Father as a mountain, and the Son as a rock hewn (begotten) from the mountain. It's of the same material, and it's the same age. But it has a distinctly separate personality, operates independently, yet always in harmony with His Father. In all things both Father and Son are equal, except in rank.
The following an excerpt from a study on the Sonship of Christ by
Terry Hill

For Christ to be the divine Son of God He must be begotten (brought forth) of God. If He is not begotten (brought forth) of God then He can neither be a true Son nor truly God. Everything depends upon His Sonship to God. If Christ is deprived of His true Sonship then He is deprived of His true Godship (Godhood). John wrote in the prologue to his Gospel “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
“No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” John 1:18
John later wrote (relating the conversation that Jesus had with Nicodemus) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:18
Amongst various scholars there is a consensus of opinion that the words found in the above two verses were not spoken by Jesus. This is because these scholars regard Christ’s conversation with Nicodemus as ending at verse 15. Whilst I am not going to debate this issue here, it is true to say that whichever way this is viewed, it does not detract from the fact that the Holy Spirit inspired John to write these words. This means that even if they were only John’s comments, they are as true as if Jesus Himself had spoken them. I take the view that Jesus did speak these words. John also wrote in one of his pastoral letters
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9
On two occasions with His own voice, God confirmed Christ’s Sonship to Himself. The first was at the baptism of Jesus. The second was at His transfiguration
“And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17
“While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” Matthew 17:5

John’s Gospel is amongst the last of the revelations that the church, through the Bible writers, would receive from God. Within it we find the most complete revelation of God to humanity. Many scholars estimate it to have been written near the end of the first century (c. AD 96). This was at a time when the church, although still in its infancy, was already under threat from false teachings. This was particularly regarding the identity and the nature of Christ. These erroneous teachings came from within the church and from without. John therefore would have been very careful when selecting the words he would write. This is why his Gospel, particularly with respect to Christ’s personal identity, should be regarded as highly significant. It appears that John wrote his Gospel with the sole purpose of refuting these false teachings. The introduction of such teachings into the early church was something that the apostle Paul had warned would happen (Acts 20:27-30).
Jesus repeatedly spoke of God as His Father (Matthew 7:21, 10:32, 18:10, Luke 10:22, John 5:17, 6:65, 8:19, 8:28, 16:10 etc). In John’s Gospel alone there can be found over 30 instances where Jesus said “my Father”. As we noted above, John devoted his entire Gospel to show that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God (20:31) - hence his continuous reporting of Christ calling God His Father. The personal testimony of God was that Christ was His Son (Matthew 3:17, 17:5). There is overwhelming evidence in Scripture showing that Jesus claimed to be the Son of God. It would be far too much to comment upon in detail here. Suffice it to say that certain of the Jews regarded His claim as blasphemous (Mark 14:60-65 John 10:36). They said He was claiming to be God (John 5:18, 10:3033). It was this claim of Sonship that He was challenged with at His trial (Matthew 26:63, Luke 22:70). The Jews said His claims made Him worthy of death (Mark 14:64, John 19:7, see also John 8:56-59). Jesus was mocked for claiming to be the Son of God (Matthew 27:40-43). It was on this point of Sonship with God that Satan challenged Christ in the wilderness (Matthew 4:3-6, Luke 4:3-9). Peter, when confessing Christ to be “the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16), was told by Jesus that it had not been “flesh and blood” that had revealed this to him but His Father in Heaven (Matthew 16:17). Jesus said very clearly that He was the Son of God (Matthew 16:16-17, John 3:16, 5:25-26, 9:35, 10:36, 11:4, 19:7). At His trial he claimed to be the Son of God (Matthew 26:64, Mark 14:62, Luke 22:70-71). It was this claim that brought about the sentence of death against Him (Mark 14:64, John 19:7).
The demons also addressed Jesus as the Son of God (Matthew 8:29, Mark 3:11, 5:7, Luke 4:41). The man in the tombs possessed of a devil also called Christ the Son of God (Luke 8:27-29). The Roman centurion said he believed that Christ was the Son of God (Mark 15:39). The disciples confessed Christ to be the Son of God (Matthew 14:33, 16:16, John 1:49, 11:27). Philip (the evangelist) explained to the Ethiopian eunuch that Christ was the Son of God (Acts 8:37). The first thing Paul taught after his 'blindness' was that Christ is the Son of God (Acts 9:20). Paul’s continuing theme was that God had sent His Son into the world to die (Romans 1:4, 8:3, 32, 2 Corinthians 1:19, Galatians 2:20, Ephesians 4:13 etc.). Not surprisingly, John's little letters, as does the book of Hebrews, constantly refer to Christ as the Son of God (1 John 3:8, 4:15, 5:5, 5:10, 5:12-13, 5:20, Hebrews 4:14, 6:6, 7:3, 10:29). That Christ is the Son of God was also the testimony of John the Baptist (John 1:32-34) – and so the list goes on. Some say that Christ is a son only because of the virgin birth at Bethlehem, but if this were true, then John, when writing his Gospel (to show that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God), made a serious mistake. This is because he did not even mention the birth of Jesus or the events of Bethlehem. The only thing in this respect he did say was that the Word was made flesh (John 1:14). This must be the briefest of references to Christ’s incarnation that it is possible to make. If John had wanted to show that the only reason why Christ was called the Son of God was because of the virgin birth then surely he would have at least mentioned where the angel Gabriel visited Mary saying that the child she was going to bear would be called the Son of God (Luke 1:35). As it was he did not even mention it. The prime reason therefore for Christ being called the Son of God cannot be His birth at Bethlehem. There must be another reason.
The “signs” that John gave were signs of Christ’s divinity. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit he was led of God to show that Christ was the divine Son of God. This can clearly be seen in his opening words: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 In order to fulfil the purpose in writing his Gospel (that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God), the very first thing that the Holy Spirit led John to write was that Christ, in His pre-existence, “was God”. From the outset therefore, John was saying to his readers that there are two divine personages who are both rightly termed God (Gr. Theos). This was the opening thrust of his Gospel. John then proceeded to reinforce his opening words. He did this by saying that all things were made by the Word and without him was not any thing made that was made (John 1:3). Christ therefore, says John, is our Creator. This is the highest possible claim to divinity. Only divinity is not created.
I think therefore that the greatest evidence to the divinity and deity of Christ is His Sonship to the Father.

Christ is the Husband

For thy Maker [is] thine husband; the LORD of hosts [is] his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. (Isa 54:5)

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they] be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Col 1:15-17)

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. (Jer 3:8)

Surely [as] a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD. (Jer 3:20)

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: (Jer 31:32)

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ. (2Co 11:2)

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. (Rev 19:7)

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. (Rev 19:9)

And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; (Rev 19:17)

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (Rev 21:2)

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (Eph 5:23)

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, [even] to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. (Rom 7:4)

Dear beebster,
Do you understand that the marriage analogy used throughout scripture is a teaching on the pathway to salvation that the Elect will travel?

The time of engagement occurs to a person when Christ gives them the Early Rain of the Spirit.

2Cor 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

The marriage occurs after a time of "waiting" and just after Christ gives the espoused believer the Latter Rain of the Spirit.

Heb 9:28 So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

After the Elect believer is given the Latter Rain of the Spirit, their spiritual blindness will be healed (Mark 8:15-25 & Acts 9:17-18). Christ will then spiritually "appear" to the virgin and gather them back to heaven (Mat 24:29-31) for the marriage ceremony (spiritually speaking). This is when the Elect believer becomes the Bride of Christ and is when they actually become a saint (no longer just called to be a saint).

The event I just described above is the Second Coming of Christ. It is a reoccurring spiritual event (Rev 1:4 & 8) which happens to all the Elect before they die. It is not a single physically visible event that happens at the end of this age as is commonly taught - that is a false teaching.

After the marriage ceremony, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb will occur. It occurs at this time because the believer (now with "eyes that can see") can has the ability to receive and understand the spiritual teachings of Christ (bread and New Wine). This event is also called the Lord's Supper and is what the physical act of communion foreshadows.

After the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, judgment will fall on the believer to remove all the spiritual things (spirit of anti-Christ & the Great Harlot/Mat 24:37-41) within them which have caused them to be carnally minded.

Here is a little more on the engagement when a person receives the Early Rain of the Spirit:

After a person receives the Early Rain of the Spirit, they will have a "measure of faith" (Rom 12:3) and will call Jesus "Lord":

1Cor 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.

This event was "typed" by Paul when Christ appeared to him on the Damascus Road. This is when Paul (and others) enter the church.

At this point in the pathway to salvation, the new believer is a "babe" and a "virgin" who must wait for the Lord to return for the marriage ceremony to take place. Many of the NT letters are addressed to this type of believer (virgins/babes) who are waiting for Christ's return.

These verses apply:

Rom 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1Cor 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Eph 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints
(converted Elect/Bride) which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful (unconverted babes/espoused virgins) in Christ Jesus:

Col 1:2 To the saints
(converted Elect/Bride) and faithful brethren (unconverted babes/espoused virgins) in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the verse below, James is addressing unconverted believers (virgins/babes) and teaches them about the TWO major steps that are necessary for salvation:

James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receives the EARLY and LATTER RAIN. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

James confirms that the Second Coming of Christ will occur "quickly" (Rev 22:12) within the lives of each Elect believer and that it is NOT a one-time event that happens a long way into the future. If Christ doesn't return to give the virgin the Latter Rain of the Spirit before they die, they are not one of the Elect.

The teaching of the marriage analogy includes 1). a time of engagement, a 2). a time of waiting, and 3). a time when the Bridegroom returns to gather His virgin back to heaven for the marriage ceremony.

These 3 steps on the pathway to salvation are also shown in the farming analogy. The "time of engagement" occurs when a person is given the Early Rain of the Spirit. The time of waiting is the time between the Early and Latter Rains of the Spirit. The "time when the Bridegroom returns and gathers His virgin to heaven" is reflected by the receiving of the Latter Rain, the burning of the tares/chaff and being harvested into the barn (Kingdom of Heaven).

Without a proper understanding of the Early and Latter Rains of the Spirit and the Second Coming of Christ, many of the NT teachings will not make sense.

I’d like to thank everyone who has participated in this study up to now and those taking the time to read it. I hope that, so far, we can all agree on the crowns and titles that Christ holds as shown so far. Some of you have mentioned other titles and crowns of Christ in your posts and I will eventually list those along with the scripture to prove them out.

So far, I have not commented a whole lot, but as this study moves forward some things will get deeper and my comments will be more common.

I’m not looking for arguments against what I am posting, so if you have an issue with something I say please start a new thread in the debate forum and we can discuss it there.

Peace.

Christ is One Body
In the last post we left off with these two verses:

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (Eph 5:23)

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, [even] to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. (Rom 7:4)

Moving forward:

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. (Eph 5:29-31)

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence. (Col 1:18)

And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all
(Eph 1:22-23)

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. (Php 3:21)

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: (Rom 12:4)

That there should be no schism in the body; but [that] the members should have the same care one for another.
And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. (1Co 12:25-27)

That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: (Eph 3:6)

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (Eph 4:12)

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (Eph 4:16)

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. (Col 3:15)

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man (Jesus Christ); and the head of Christ [is] God. (1Co 11:3)

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. (Eph 4:25)

That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
I in them, and thou in me
, that they may be made perfect in one;
and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (Joh 17:21-23)

[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who [is] above all (including Christ), and through all, and in you all. (Eph 4:4:6)

Peace.

Since this is in the Bible Study forum, we should allow Scripture to interpret Scripture......
For the LORD (yehôvâh) your God [is] God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: (Deu 10:17)
What is the context of these words?
Deut 10:12-19....I
“Now, O Israel, what is Jehovah your God asking of you? Only this: to fear Jehovah your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of Jehovah that I am commanding you today for your own good. 14 Look, to Jehovah your God belong the heavens, even the heavens of the heavens, and the earth with all that is in it. 15 But only to your forefathers did Jehovah draw close and express his love, and he has chosen you, their offspring, out of all the peoples, as you are today. 16 You must now cleanse your hearts and stop being so stubborn. 17 For Jehovah your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the God great, mighty, and awe-inspiring, who treats none with partiality and does not accept a bribe. 18 He executes justice for the fatherless child and the widow and loves the foreign resident, giving him food and clothing. 19 You too must love the foreign resident, for you became foreign residents in the land of Egypt.”

So now we see why Moses describes Jehovah that way.....considering their history, it is to their great shame that Israel did not do what their God asked of them consistently....often going off the rails completely in serving other gods. That however did not prevent Jehovah from following through on his promise to Abraham to produce the Messiah from Abraham’s offspring. (Genesis 22:17-18) He kept to his part of the covenant, even when they did not. Once his purpose in connection with them was complete, after giving them first option to become part of his purpose to restore his kingship over the now alienated sinful human race, he abandoned Israel and choose a new “Israel”....one the apostle Paul called “the Israel of God”. (Gal 6:16) This “Israel” was made up of both Jewish and Gentile Christians.
Psa 136:3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
The whole of Psalm 136 is in praise of their God with the repetition of one phrase....”his loving kindness endures forever”. It recounts all the things God had done for Israel up to that point....and up to that point, the Messiah was only an expectation....they really had no idea how their Messiah was going to restore God’s Kingship to the earth....only that their prophesies spoke of this coming one.

To the Israelites at that time, there were no other gods or lords who could compare to their singular God, who had proven himself time and again to be their savior.
Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, (Jesus Christ) the King of kings, and Lord of lords; (1Tim 6:15)
Again, context reveals the import of this verse...

1 Tim 6:13-16...
“I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.”

In a careful reading of Paul’s words here, we see that reference is to God in this passage.
Note the expression....
“until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper timeHe who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see.”

Who is going to bring about the “appearing of our Lord Jesus”? “HE” is referring to Jehovah, whom he calls the “only Sovereign”....“King of Kings and Lord of Lords”...and the only one who is defined as “immortal”......but defined even more so as the one whom “no man has seen or can see”.....this is not talking about Jesus, who was “seen” by thousands at a time. (John 1:18)

And if Jesus was “immortal”, he could not die. If Jesus did not die then we are still condemned. He has not paid the redemption price.

This is when people start to notice inconsistencies and begin to doubt that God’s word is accurate. It is never inaccurate....but man’s interpretation can be way off, if bias demands an inaccurate translation.

These shall make war with the Lamb (Jesus Christ), and the Lamb (Jesus Christ) shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful. (Rev 17:14)
How can Jesus also bear the title of “king of kings and lord or lords”? The fact is this is a mistranslation that omits the words that give us the correct understanding.
It should read...”He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords”.
Jesus as the appointed King of God’s kingdom, (his coronation was seen in vision by Daniel some 500 years before it happened....Daniel 7:13-14) he will bring all ruling authorities on this earth, to nothing. But he is not alone in his kingship....Rev 20:6 identifies those who will rule as “kings and priests” with Christ in heaven....his “elect”.....those who will be resurrected “first”.

So we should not get carried away with titles.....there are other “kings and priests”......even the title “Savior” was not exclusive to God and Jesus.
A “savior” in the Bible is a “deliverer” or “rescuer”. Even humans are called “saviors”. (Judges 3:15)
A savior who send a savior is also a savior....just as someone who calls an ambulance is as much a savior as the paramedics who actually do the saving of someone’s life....

Matt 28:18 is where Jesus himself makes an important declaration, as parting words to his apostles.....
“Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth.”
Reflect on that statement for a moment.....Jesus is saying that “all authority has been given to him”.....if he is the same one who originally carried the title “King of King and Lord of Lords”, it seems apparent that the one appointed as “king” of God’s kingdom has now taken up that authority, which if he was God, would be a pointless statement. God cannot give himself what he already has.

So careful and thorough Bible study is what answers questions......allowing Scripture to answer for itself, rather than to read into the Scriptures, doctrines invented by men.

Since this is in the Bible Study forum, we should allow Scripture to interpret Scripture......

What is the context of these words?
Deut 10:12-19....

Thank you Aunty Jane for that very telling post.

What I find interesting is that just after I politely asked-

And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, SATAN COMETH IMMEDIATELY, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. (Mk 4:14-15)

Satan is good at that:

It amazes me that in one post you’ve added more commentary than I have in 5 posts which include well over 60 verses of scripture.

What astounds me even more is you did so after your opening statement which was:

Incredible!

I have no plans to argue with you in this thread but as I’ve stated earlier:

Or perhaps in this case, you can start study thread entitled “Christ isn’t” where you can rebut each and every “Christ is” post that I upload.

You can show us all how Christ isn’t
“Lord of lords,” "King of kings,” “the Holy One,” “the Husband,” “the Redeemer” or any other title that I intend to show that he holds.

But, be careful so as to
“allow Scripture to interpret Scripture....”

1. Christ is Lord of lords
2. Christ is King of Kings
3. Christ is the Holy One
4. Christ is the Redeemer
5. Christ is the Husband
6. Christ is One Body

Christ is One Spiritual Body

[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who [is] above all (including Christ), and through all, and in you all. (Eph 4:4-6)

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (1Pe 3:18)

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; [even] in him: (Eph 1:10)

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. (1Jn 4:13)

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1Jn 3:24)

And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness. (Rom 8:10)

Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we [him] no more.

Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2Co 5:16)

And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit,] the redemption of our body. Rom 8:23 (This is not our physical body – hopefully we SEE by now, what body is being spoken of here).

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. (Col 3:15)

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (1Co 15:50)

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (1Co 12:13)

Peace.

You can show us all how Christ isn’t “Lord of lords,” "King of kings,” “the Holy One,” “the Husband,” “the Redeemer” or any other title that I intend to show that he holds.

But, be careful so as to
“allow Scripture to interpret Scripture....”
Perhaps you misunderstand that I did not refute the titles that Jesus has…..I just don’t apply them as you have applied them. “Scripture does interpret Scripture”…..but IMV, not in the way Christendom interprets it.

So what about those titles….?
1. Christ is Lord of lords
Yes, he is….because ”there are many gods and many lords”. (1 Cor 8:5-6) Yet only the Father is the “one God” of Christ’s followers…”the only true God”.…and we need to know him. (John 17:3) The Father is also the “God” of Jesus. (Rev 3:12; John 20:17)

The Bible speaks about “the Sovereign Lord Jehovah” and the “Lord Jesus Christ”. (John 13:13) It also tells us that Sarah called Abraham “lord” (kyrios) out of respect. (1 Peter 3:5-6) It’s the same word.
A slave called his master “lord. (again the same word)….so what does it mean?
It’s the same as calling someone “Master” or “Sir”.

2. Christ is King of Kings
Yes, but there are also many kings. Christ’s elect will all carry that title. (Rev 20:6)
3. Christ is the Holy One
Christ is a “holy one”….the most important of the “holy ones” who served God in the flesh…..but again he is one of many “holy ones” mentioned in Scripture. (1 Peter 1:14-15)
It is through Christ that his disciples became true believers in the God that he served...(1 Peter 1:21; Hebrews 4:27)….not the god that Judaism served.
4. Christ is the Redeemer
Yes, he paid the price demanded under God’s law….”an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life”.
Christ had to be born 100% mortal human…..in order to be the “last Adam”, he had to offer an equivalent “sinless” life to the one Adam lost for all his children. Understanding how redemption works allows us to see exactly why Jesus was able to be “sent” on his mission, to die instead of us.
If he could die, it means that he was not immortal.
5. Christ is the Husband
Yes, Christ is the figurative ‘husband’ of his bride….but his Father was pictured as the ‘husband’ of Israel….it indicates headship. “the head of the Christ is God”. (1 Cor 11:3)
6. Christ is One Body
The “body of Christ” is indeed one body, but who make up that body is not necessarily whom Christendom believes it to be. There are many who believe that they are heaven bound, but that will be a delusion. (Matt 7:21-23)

So you see I have no issue with the titles you have listed, but I do not agree with the way you have interpreted them….the Bible gives me what I believe is the correct interpretation, based on what it says in its entirety, not just in selected scriptures that appear to support what you have written.

Not all interpret the Bible in the same way….isn’t that demonstrated in the number of denominations in Christendom, all claiming to teach one truth, but who are hopelessly divided in their views. (1 Cor 1:10) Forums like these could not exist if that wasn't the case.

Preaching to the choir is not really productive…..we need to challenge our beliefs and be confident about them. Having different viewpoints is a valid way to sort through the maze and gain some solid scriptural answers….by his spirit, God will do the rest. (John 6:65)

If you are confident about your views then a challenge should prompt you to support them even further.
Decisions are being made by the readers here, so we need to provide evidence that can be substantiated by the rest of the Bible….not just our favorite verses.

A study of “theology” and a study of the “Bible” are two entirely different exercises.

Presenting a different view is not derailing the thread, but giving readers an alternative view. Since Jesus said that ‘no one will be able to snatch a true believer from his hand’, why is there a problem with presenting another scripturally based viewpoint? No true believer has anything to fear from that…..it is what Jesus presented to his Jewish audience after all….it made him extremely unpopular with those who wanted to retain the status quo…..but it didn’t make him wrong….did it?

Christ is the Lamb of God
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. (Gen 22:8)

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! (Joh 1:36)

These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he (the lamb) is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful. (Rev 17:14)

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (Joh 1:29)

Rev 21:22
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. (Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1Co3:16)

And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and ]four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. (Rev 14:1)

For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (Rev 7:17)

Peace

Christ is the Water of Life (Living Water)
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (Rev 7:17)

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to DRINK into one Spirit. (1Co 12:13)

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (Joh 3:5)

Rev 22:1
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. (Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? [/U] 1Co3:16)

And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD (yehôvâh), I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
Behold, God ('el) [is] my salvation (yĕshuw`ah); I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD (Yahh) JEHOVAH (yehôvâh) [is] my strength and [my] song; he also is become my salvation (yĕshuw`ah).
Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation (yĕshuw`ah).
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD (yehôvâh), call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
Sing unto the LORD (yehôvâh); for he hath done excellent things: this [is] known in all the earth.
Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great [is] the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee. (Isa 12:1-6)

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life FREELY. (Rev 21:6)

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (Heb 10:22)

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life FREELY.(Rev 22:17)

For with thee [is] the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. (Psa 36:9)

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: (Pro 25:21)

Literalists might look at that verse and think we’re being taught to be kind and caring. That’s ok, but with the Word of God, there are always at least two meanings; one for the carnal mind and another for those of the spirit:

And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. (Rev 1:16)

That bread and that water spoken of in Pro 25:21 are both the Word of God.

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting (aionios) life. (John 4:10-14)

The Water of Life/Living Waters are Christ’s words:

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (Eph 5:25 -27)

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life. (Joh 6:63)

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Mat 24:35)

He who believes on Christ shall, out of his belly, speak the words of Christ.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (Joh 7:38)

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken ME the fountain of living waters, [and] hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. (Jer 2:13)

The words of Christ are/is the Word of God and as Christ spoke the words of his Father-

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. (Joh 14:24)

-so too will those in Christ:

That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (Joh 17:21-23)

Christ is the Living Waters, The Water of Life because Christ is the Word of God:

And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (Rev 19:13)

Peace.

Christ is the Bread of Life
Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
And Jesus said unto them, I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (Jn 6:31-35)

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1 Cor 5:8)

We find sincerity and truth in the Word of God, Jesus Christ.

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread (the Word of God), till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Gen 3:19)

The carnal mind cannot understand the Word of God because the carnal mind hates God:

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (Rom 8:7)

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: (Amo 8:11)

How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (Mat 16:11:12)

With all of the false doctrines and denominations in this world today it is not hard to see:
the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, (Joh 6:63)
in Gen 3:19.

Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) (2 Cor 9)

And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. (Luk 14:15)

That’s the same as saying:

But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. (Mat 13:16)

See and hear what?

But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. (Mk 7:27)

Jesus was not talking about literal bread there; that bread is the Word of God, Jesus Christ.

Give us this day our daily bread. (Mat 6:11)

I AM THE LIVING BREAD (-my words shall not pass away. Mat 24:35) which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever (eis aion): and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. (Jn 6:51)

That bread there is not his literal physical flesh.

He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. (Jn 6:56)

For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. (1 Cor 10-17)

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: (Pro 25:21)

That bread and that water are both the Word of God.

Give us day by day our daily bread. (Luk 11:3)

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread (literal bread) alone, but by every word of God (spiritual bread). Luk 4:4

I AM THAT BREAD OF LIFE. (Jn 6:48)

That BREAD OF LIFE is Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is the Word of God.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and are life. (Joh 6:63)

Peace.

Christ is the Word of God

His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; (which is what this thread is all about) and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (Rev 19:12-13)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (Joh 1:14)

It didn't take much to prove Christ is the Word of God.

With that said I'm going to do some emphasizing on one of the following verses to show how I read and process sripture. This might not seem proper because it is Jesus Christ speaking but please bear with me; hopefully when you’re done reading this it will make sense to you.

This is how the KJV translates these two verses:

And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it. (Luk 8:21)

and

But he said, Yea rather, blessed [are] they that hear the word of God, and keep it. (Luk 11:28)

Now let’s take Luk 8:21 and put some emphasis on it. Please keep in mind that this is how I read and process scripture. I’m going to remove “the word of God” and replace it with “Jesus Christ.”

And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear Jesus Christ, and do it. (Luk 8:21)

Okay, hold the phones right? This doesn’t make sense; Jesus talking in the third person like that?

What if he said:

And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the Son of man, and do it. (Luk 8:21)

Is it easier to accept that? He talked in the third person like that quite a bit.

But wait, we’re told in Revelation:

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (22:18)

and Proverbs:

Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Pro 30:6)

So the question now is; did I add to the word of God by replacing “the word of God” with “Jesus Christ?”

Well, I don’t believe so; I’m simply showing how I read and process it.

If I were to make changes like that and publish a Bible with changes like that, as some churches do, then yes I would be guilty of said mischief.

I believe when Christ opens our minds to what he speaks we will know what the term “Word of God” is signifying.

LOOK AND SEE AND HEAR:

My mother and my brethren are these which hear Jesus Christ, and do it.
My mother and my brethren are these which hear the Lord of lords, and do it.
My mother and my brethren are these which hear the King of kings, and do it.
My mother and my brethren are these which hear the Holy One, and do it.
My mother and my brethren are these which hear the Redeemer, and do it.
My mother and my brethren are these which hear the Husband, and do it.
My mother and my brethren are these which hear the Lamb of God, and do it.

This is not adding to the word of God, it’s understanding the word of God.

When you see these terms, being laid down in this study, anywhere in scripture you should be searching for Christ. The scriptural fact is that Christ is everywhere in scripture. From the very first chapter and verse to the very last chapter and verse. If we don’t know who he is, we cannot see and hear him.

So if we’re shown that “the word of God” is “Jesus Christ”, what else will he show us?

Luk 8:21
And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it (If ye love me, keep my commandments. -Joh 14:15 ).

Luk 8:21 once again:

And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear (understand) the word of God, (me, Jesus Christ) and do it. (keep my commandments)

The point of all this is to show that if we truly believe that Christ is the Word of God, we can then see so much more of God’s truth.

But blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. (Mat 13:16)

If we don’t believe that Christ is truly the Word of God then we will see very little of God’s truth:

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. (Mat 13:13)

The following verse shows us Christ and proves that we struggle to see and hear him:

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread (the Word of God), till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Gen 3:19)

As I stated, Christ is everywhere in scripture because he is the Word of God and his words are spirit.

Let’s “rightly divide” some more of the Word:

1Co 15:46
Howbeit that [was] not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural (they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, Mat 13:13); and afterward that which is spiritual. (blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. Mat 13:16)

Joh 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; (and afterward that which is spiritual. Cor 15:46 ((blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. Mat 13:16)) the flesh profiteth nothing: (-but that which is natural Cor 15:46 ((they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, Mat 13:13)); the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life. (And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Rev 22:1).

Again, if we truly believe that Christ is the Word of God, we can then see so much more of God’s truth:

1Th 2:13
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God (Jesus Christ) which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, (Jesus Christ) which effectually WORKETH also in you that believe. (-I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. Jn 14:20)

God Bless.

Blue, Bold and Underline emphases mine.

You can show us all how Christ isn’t “Lord of lords,” "King of kings,” “the Holy One,” “the Husband,” “the Redeemer” or any other title that I intend to show that he holds.
"The First and the Last"! and "The Almighty"!
