I think the habit of speaking thanks is a great start. It grows when we learn to thank God in the midst of uncertainty and trials. Being thankful for what we have when things aren't looking good locks in the mindset.
Hearing Scripture every day reminds us to keep at it.
Service towards others and acts of generosity even when its sacrificial flows out thankfulness. Give radically and trust God for basic needs.
Yeah....
I am going to agree with you on this.
The 10 lepers who were cleansed in Luke only one stopped, turned around to tell Jesus "Thank You". Sure the other 9 were cleansed of Leprosy but only one was healed completely.
And I have recently understood the difference between being healed verses simply being cleansed. I always thought that they were the same....I guess I'm kinda neuro divergent in that fashion. (I'm a both feet jumper/burn the ships we are here type person)
It had never really dawned on me that there is a difference....apprehend but didn't comprehend.
And I think Simon's story kinda dovetails the concept. Sure he invited Jesus over for a meal but didn't offer any footwashing or much else in hospitality. Then is suspicious when the "sinful woman" washed Jesus's feet with tears and dried them with her hair and anointed them with expensive perfume....
Simon was blessed with having Jesus over to dinner. (I would go all mercenary for the opportunity to do the same) But....simply didn't understand what the privilege it truly was. And be grateful to be of service to God in such a fashion. (Even if he didnt/couldn't know Jesus was the Messiah)
He was not really grateful at all....kinda looked at it as if God owed him because of all he had done.
So....
Maybe I'm still missing it somehow because I don't know how to be forgiven but not really healed. Maybe I'm not healed yet....and am missing it but don't know any better like the 9 or Simon.
