Why Is It So Important To Keep The Sabbath Day Holy?

Saturday 7-6-24 7th. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Sivan 29 5784 17th. Summer Day

To Love and praise the LORD through prayer, worship, and studying His words. To honor the day He set aside from creation, thank Him for our strength and endurance, and the six days of our livelihood.

Observing the Sabbath shows our commitment to honor and worship God and keep our covenants. It will bring us closer to the Lord and to our family. It will give us an eternal perspective and spiritual strength. The Sabbath also allows us to rest from our physical labors and worship the Lord.

Mat 28:19-20 NRSVAue "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

I do not find a command from Jesus to celebrate the Old Covenant Sabbath anywhere.

I do recognize that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, so I believe in one day of rest after six days of labor. In the New Covenant we have added worship of God on that 1st day of the week, the Lord's Day.

I am not that obsessed over days or rituals. I don't object if some saints do find it important, I just do not find it for myself. Keeping myself looking to Jesus is my main desire and hope.
