Interesting Christian behaviors and customs which I like....

Birthday Celebrations:

A birthday is parents and family saying they were happy you were born. A birthday also says they are celebrating your life and presenting they are happy you are enjoying your life. It is a celebration of a special and important person in the family and friends area, and for others it could be extended to social media, although that sounds like a detached condition specifically. Family and friends have a personal and in person social relationship with you.

Engaging in Water Baptism:

I though about one of the immediate reasons for water baptism. It is a symbol of what Christ Jesus did for us in the resurrection. Which is we descend into death together with him and he delivers us out.

It is also a symbol of the flood where only 8 were saved. Were those 8 righteous? And I am reminded of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah where only Lot and his daughters survived. Were they righteous?

So why did God save Noah and his 8 people, Lot and his daughters?

The point I'm seeing is that also we are baptized in a desirable appearance under God to show that we don't want to endure another earth ending flood. And we are proclaiming it to the Creator.

Are there other Christian behaviors and Customs that you like?

The reason God saved Noah and His family was because Noah talked with the Lord our God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I like the tradition of water baptism - but what does it cause you to remember??????

Does it cause you to remember that Noah talked to the Lord, back and forth, and so he did what the Lord asked of him - or does it cause you to remember the boat and water???

Does it cause you to remember the Lord our God and how we, even we people, can have a personal relationship with the Lord our God - or does it cause us to remember being dunked in water?


There is a purpose for the traditions, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not about water, it is about talking back and forth with the Lord our God Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is it we don't seem to understand this?

Jn 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

Do we not know that the Holy Spirit comes speaking the words of Jesus Christ to us personally???

Jn 16:13,14“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
“He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

Noah heard from the Lord via His Holy Spirit, and so can we.
Noah got instructions that save him and his family, even humanity, but do we listen to Him or even think about listening to Him?

If the tradition of water baptism didn't come to led you into a person relationship with Him, then what good was it??? Did we not read:

Jn 3:5-8 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
“Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
“The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

So we must be born of water and the Spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you are born of the Spirit you will hear the sound of the wind!!
and He speaks word, even the words of Jesus Christ!!!

So the water was about listening to the Holy Spirit who personally brings us the words and instruction that our Lord has for us, right?

So why did God save Noah and his 8 people, Lot and his daughters?

He saved Noah and his 8 people because Noah listen to the Lord and did what was asked!!!! And Noah was hearing pretty well to get the specific instructions to build a boat that big, right?

The tradition of getting baptized in water was never about the water!!!! It was all about hearing the instructions our Lord has for us personally!!

And the bread and wine tradition is not about wafers and grape juice or wine, that tradition is also about hearing Jesus Christ via the Holy Spirit, just like the tradition of water baptism is!!!

Jesus said He was the true mana (bread) that came down out of heaven, and His name is called the Word of God because He has the words of God!! And He sends His Holy Spirit (the grape juice, wine, or water - if you are being taught with parables and sayings) with the words of God that He has for you personally!!!

But do we even listen enough to Him to understand this?

Ps 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings of old,

Prov 1:2-7 To know wisdom and instruction,
To discern the sayings of understanding,
To receive instruction in wise behavior,
Righteousness, justice and equity;
To give prudence to the naive,
To the youth knowledge and discretion
A wise man will hear and increase in learning,
And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,
To understand a proverb and a figure,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

So are we going to be wise and make it about hearing and receiving the instructions and wisdom the Lord has for us, or are we going to let: "wafers and grape juice annoy" us?

For christian behaviors I like when people are trustworthy and reliable but they also paradoxically embody this scripture: "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

I hang my hat on the Joyous tradition of raising voices by singing and making a joyful noise unto the Lord.
