KJO reader: This is what the Word of God says.
NIV reader: Let's compare the NIV translation.
KJO reader: WHAT! ??? That's a terrible translation!
NIV reader: Are you saying it isn't the "Word of God"?
KJO reader: The NIV left verses out of the Bible!
NIV reader: No, the NIV kept the same verse numbering system
but left out verses that didn't belong there in the first place.
KJO reader: THEY REMOVED VERSES FROM THE BIBLE !!!!
NIV reader: No, that's not what happened.
KJO reader: Yes it is what HAPPENED !!!
NIV reader: Show me one.
KJO reader: Here you go.
NIV reader: My footnote accounts for that.
KJO reader: Accounts for verses removed from the Bible? ???
NIV reader: The footnote says: It does not appear in any New Testament
manuscript prior to the end of the 6th century.
KJO reader: It's NOT the Word of God !!!!
NIV reader: Seriously?

Interesting that the Bible is "the Word of God", unless someone quotes a translation you disagree with.

Do you do that?
I often say on here that when many quote the Bible it's the Word of God. When I quote it it's my opinion.

Scripture is not understood when read in this our time. Take for an example the following verse...

Colossians 1:16
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

It tells you right in the verse what the "all things" are. They are the things the Christ will need after the gathering together of the saints. It lists them... thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers:

Now most of the folks on here stop reading at the words "all things" and then they say see Jesus created everything in the universe. I say it does not say stars and planets. It says thrones and dominions. They then often say to me I believe the Word of God and not your opinion.

In fact, earlier than that (2 Maccabees 12:43-45 recounts that Judas and his army prayed for their fallen comrades that their sin might be forgiven).

There is no 2nd chance in Hell.

So, if you are praying for the dead, you're wasting your time.

By the way, that Bible you turned me onto has an awesome way it translates Galatians 2:20

With Christ have I been crucified: I live; however, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and delivered himself up for me.

Interesting that the Bible is "the Word of God", unless someone quotes a translation you disagree with.

The Scriptures Are a combination of Direct Quotes, of God, of Jesus, of Angels, of men.

All Scripture IS Approved by God.

The Gospels are the Words “According To” the one whose Name Appears in the Title or Text. In most instances One was speaking and another (a scribe) was writing the words of the Speaker, and later “Recorders” would takes the Scribes Writings and assemble them on Scrolls….and later; Scholars mulled over available Texts, Scrolls, Letters and Assembled them into Bound Books, with Title Headings, Numbers, Passages, punctuations, for ease of reading and referencing.

Fact IS the “finished Books” have been Assembled in the same Fashion by multiple groups of Scholars, TITLING “their Books” as “they please”….
The Holy Bible…(Umpteen versions)…the Qur’an, …Tanaka…Tripitaka…Tao Te Ching…the Catechism…the Book of Mormon….on and on.

Thus you have Billions of individuals from Ancient, Historical and Modern Times…generationally following along of what their Ancestors believed and did.

Fact is: All of those “Books” include “A God” being the “highlight”… and How one reaches the goal of a one on one Connection / relationship with their “God” ( and in some cases, multiple gods ) IS the Conundrum that plagues

Men outside the Narrow Gate are All at Differing Beliefs.

Men passing through the Narrow Gate….are All at Different Distances of Knowledge and Understanding.

Men “having ARRIVED” at the End of the Narrow Path…Have Obtained the PRIZE.
Their tripping and stumbling days are over.

They are no longer walking only “with” the Lord…They are now walking “with-IN” the Lord Jesus “AND” Christ (ie.the Power of God…

The “prize” IS them Having “RECEIVED” their Salvation … OSAS
ONCE Received…”THEY” can NEVER LOSE their Salvation….

Because ….What IS INSIDE of THAT man…IS the POWER of God…KEEPING THAT man IN Faith TO the Lord God….For Ever!

No man’s Power is Greater than Gods Power, to UNDO, the Works God HAS Done with-IN a man having Received Salvation.

The Man makes his own FREEWILL Choice to TAKE Gods Offering of Salvation…or Not.

God doesn’t play Games, like men Do..borrowing money, Promise yo repay….then don’t.
Like men DO, promising to Marry, be faithful unto Death …then don’t.

A mans Promise “to God” to Believe and Be Faithful Forever…is no longer under the Control of a weak-kneed, wishy Washy wavering man…. But rather KEPT ONCE and FOREVER (OSAS), by the Power of God IN that man….

Which IS the very meaning of a man WHO says he IS “Converted”…he IS “IN Christ”…Christ (the power of God)…IS IN that man…
And WHY…
That man…can Never fall Away.
That man…Raptured, Not left on the face of the Earth,
WHEN…God send Tribulations AND Wrath upon the whole Earth…for those on the Earth to suffer Judgements, FOR NOT accepting Gods Offering to be MADE Forgiven, Restored, Sanctified, Abd WITH Gods Power Forever Standing IN Faith With God.
( Just as Faithful Noah and his Faithful family, were Not left on the face of the Earth, the First time God sent Tribulations and Wrath from heaven, upon the Whole Earth that they upon the face of the Earth suffered Gods judgements and Anger.)….Neither shall “they” who are “IN” Christ suffer the last Great Tribulations and Wrath sent from Heaven upon the whole earth.
“THEY” have heeded the Warnings and followed Gods Order and WAY…by, through, of Gods Power, to ESCAPE the next great and horrific Tribulations, Anger and Wrath To BE sent down from Heaven.
OSAS….
IN Christ…1 Thes 4:16-17
Will never leave you…1 Thes 4:17
Gods power…1Cor 1:24
Gods power in you Great above all…1John 4:4
Escape…1 Cor 10:13

Folk, even God's folk throughout history (both OT and NT) have like passions as we do.
Yes, they were inspired. Yes, they acted in faith, Yes, they wrote as they heard and saw, Yes, they where God's instruments to lead an erring and rebellious people, yet in their faith, their position of trust, were they never in error?

Moses killed an Egyptian. Was that God's idea of how to liberate the Hebrews?
Jonah ran the opposite way when God called him....was even pissed off when God didn't destroy the Ninevites.....
Elijah got into an unremitting murderous rage.
Samson was outta control. Wasn't he inspired? Isn't he listed in the men of faith in Hebrews 11? Yes he is!
Peter was happy to decapitate any soldier that threatened Jesus....lucky he was a fisherman and not adept at using a sword but nevertheless trimmed an ear. Jesus needed to remind him that those who draw the sword will die by the sword....a perspective he never got till after the resurrection..... becoming a powerful voice in the proclamation of the Gospel.
Isaiah embraced the Yin Yang philosophy of the Persians stating that God is the instigator of both good and evil.....echoing Satan's lie in Eden.

Many of us are inspired. Does that mean God sanctions all our words let alone our behaviour? It is no different with the writers of the scriptures.

The Bible candidly showcases the flaws of God's servants, allowing us to grasp the genuine nature of imperfection. It recounts the missteps and shortcomings of figures like David, not to encourage emulation of those mistakes, but to highlight the consequences of such actions so we can steer clear of them.

1 Cor. 10:11 Now these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for a warning to us upon whom the ends of the systems of things have come.

Rom. 15:4 For all the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction, so that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.

The openness of the Bible regarding the shortcomings and failures of God’s devoted followers serves as compelling evidence of its divine inspiration, distinguishing it from mere human documental creations aimed at fabricating religions. In contrast, other historical documents, including the official chronicles of Egypt, sought to sanitize the misdeeds of their leaders and the disgrace faced by their administrations.

Sure ‘the faithful” error…humans Know Not all things.

The prominant SIN Against God IS unbelief.
A faithful man, making an error, isn’t affecting his Belief.

Men are Not directed to “Believe in other men” men can Not Sin Against men, nor can men “forgive SIN”…

Men can and Do Trespass Against other men.
Men can and Do forgive Trespasses.

Forgiveness, from God, from other men, does Not mean, there is “no negative” consequence.

Re: Interesting that the Bible is "the Word of God", unless someone quotes a

The Bible was originally penned in Hebrew, Aramaic, and koiné Greek. I
seriously doubt that there is even one version among the many translations
available in our day that we can say is spot-on primarily because it is
virtually impossible to move thoughts from one language into another
verbatim.

And then there is also the problem of ambiguity. Quite a few of the ancient
words have more than one meaning. Translators do their best to select an
appropriate thought, but must admit that sometimes they are taking an
educated guess. In those situations, Bible readers have an opportunity to be
their own translators because their guess is neither better nor worse than
the scholars' guesses.

Another problem faced by translators is the lack of sufficient text. It's
interesting to note in an interlinear how often words are edited into
translations of the manuscripts to fill them out. Now those fills of course
can't be assured inspired so caveat lector.

A lexicon of the words in the Bible giving their meanings in the original
languages is a big help sometimes although lexicons don't take into account
grammatical rules, viz: lexicons have their uses, but they aren't meant to be
substitutes for an education-- and I haven't even touched on punctuation;
which is a really big problem in itself because none that's placed in
translations came from the manuscripts. It's all arbitrary, and possibly even
biased.

* It's amusing sometimes to watch Bible readers quarrel over the best
translation when all translations are sort of like blind men describing an
elephant based upon which part of its body they happen to be touching.

People can't know about it unless someone tells them. Nobody has told me the full story. I just hear someone say it's a pagan holiday, once in a while.

Easter and Christmas are good Christian holidays. The gentles brought some of their holidays and customs into Christianity, including weddings. The Apostle Paul did not object to this. Emperor Constantine combined some of the dates of the Pagan and Christian holidays so as not to shutdown the Empire so often.

On the question of translations and the Word of God…you may already know this…
The Word of God is best represented by the actual scriptures. Translations are opinions, some better than others. It is best to take the translations back to the scriptures. Keeping it simple a good site to do this is called the Bible Hub. This site list several translations for a verse and it has an option called interlin that will take you to the actual scripture where you can see where translations work from.

Example: John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3_16.JPG
