OK......Being baptized “in the name of”...means what? Does it say that these three are God? Or is it implying something that first century Jews fully understood? That being baptized “in the name of the Father AND of the son AND of the Holy Spirit” is acknowledging the role that all three played in the culmination of a spiritual journey that led to their baptism?....dedicating their lives to follow Jesus as disciples of “the son of God”, but never losing sight of who was the God of Jesus Christ. (John 17:3)Father
Matthew 28:19
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
The Father taught Jesus, who in turn, taught his disciples...the powerful works of the holy spirit persuaded them to believe all the things Jesus taught them, and his work was carried on by the ones he appointed to do that, granting them holy spirit to keep teaching God’s truth.....but Jesus warned that “weeds” would be planted by the devil, and grow along with the “wheat” planted by Jesus in the same “field”.....that parable has deep implications for those who don’t understand what this “weed” was in Bible times.
It was a noxious weed called “bearded darnell” which was known as “wheat’s evil twin. (Often oversown by an enemy who wanted to destroy his neighbor’s crop) In the early growing stages it was impossible to tell which was which, but by the time it became discernible, the roots systems were so intertwined with the wheat that to uproot the weeds, would take the wheat along with it.
So Jesus said to let them “grow together” until the harvest, when all would be taken together...the “weeds” were to be separated out to be disposed of, and the “wheat” gathered into the master’s storehouse.
We have to know the difference, otherwise we could be headed for a destiny that is opposite to what we imagined. (Matt 7:21-23) It’s the reason why “few” are on the “road to life”. (Matt 7:13-14)
Why is the third party missing here? (As it is also in Jesus statement in John 17:3) In the scriptures Father and son are mentioned together often, but there is very little mention of a threesome.1 John 2:22-23
He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
What does it mean to “deny the Father and son”? Unless we have the truth about who they are.....our denial may come in the form of misinformation......in a world ruled by the devil, deception is everywhere. (1 John 5:19) Flawed human nature is susceptible to this deception....do the deceived know that they are, until it’s too late? What happens then? The “harvest” will mean no more “weeds”, but are we among them?...that is the question.
