The man SIMON was not seeking Baptism…he was SEEKING the POWER to Baptize with the Holy Spirit.See your view of "the Baptism of the Holy Spirit." is not in context with scripture for one Simon received the indwelling spirit when he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ he has the spirit of God dwelling in him now it does not happen in the manner you are describing and Acts 19:1-6 makes it know if we take the bible for its word. Lets look at it with eyes for learning.
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Pay close attention to the conversation in verse 2-4 Paul makes it clear how the indwelling spirit is given unless Paul doesn't know what he is talking about. The Spirit is given through the baptism in the name of Jesus Christ . Paul clears that up for you right here in plain text easy to read. He who has ears to hear let him hear what the scriptures say.
Now while we are hear in verse 6 is what you call the baptism in the holy ghost but notice the sequence first Paul baptizes them with the baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and giving them the indwelling spirit same as acts 2:38 explained in Romans 6 they are all the one and the same then he lays hand on them not to give them the spirit for that should have in your belief happened supernaturally without the Apostles. but to give them the power to confirm the word to grow the church that Pjhilip just planted.
Why is it you think that Simon was Baptized with the Holy Spirit?
Is Wanting Gods Power to Baptize others with the Holy Spirit, the Teaching of God of WHY a man would SEEK Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
I think NOT.
That man SIMON was revered, and sought after, when he was preaching sorceries to the Samaritan’s. He became overshadowed when Philip, Peter and John arrived. The people stopped listening to and believing SIMON and started listening to and believing Philip, Peter and John.
Peter recognized Simon’s motive right off and excluded Simon from Peter focusing on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit being received unto the Samaritan’s who were pledging heartful belief in God.
