please explain to me what first century lady means by BOTH types of sins . I aint heard that one yet .
She asserts that there are "sins unto death", those being "wilfull sins", and including sins punishable by death under the Mosaic Law. "Sins not unto death"comprise the remained of possible sins.

Her idea is that God immediately removes all "sins unto death" from us so we don't do those, while other sins are allowed to remain as we mature away from them.

@1stCenturyLady feel free to correct me if I'm misrepresenting your view. ^

My reply to that is that we are no longer under Law and these distinctions don't apply to us. "All that is not of faith is sin", so rather than keeping lists of rules, we are to walk in faith.

In fact her divisions aren't consistent within the Scriptures, so it doesn't work out.

Much love!

1 John 5:16-18

King James Version

16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

We gotta rightly divide . There is a sin unto death . Ye shall die in your sins , for if ye believe NOT that i am HE
ye shall die in your sins .
Now as far as any other sins of the flesh , the church corrects those . read james too .
But for those who DENY JESUS , THERE IS ONLY THE SECOND DEATH . that be a fact too .
Now for those who USE JESUS name to support sins , THEY DONT KNOW HIM EITHER , they too will face the second death .
But as far as sins and errors within the church , THOSE must be corrected . We must repent of an error .
But , i dont care how perfect and holy one tries to be , ONE WILL NEVER ATTAIN to RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD
without FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST , not only that but if they believe not on HIM
they have not life but the wrath of GOD abides on them . PS JESUS SAID THAT TOO . SO lets never buy the all inclusive false love lie either .

It is Jesus that takes away our sins, both types. But when He takes away our sins unto death we are clean, even if we are not mature in every fruit of the Spirit. That is sinlessness, also righteousness. When all of the fruit of the Spirit are mature, then we are holy and perfect.
Would a true Born Again, be able to sin unto death?

Got answer.

What is the sin unto death.

ANSWER

First John 5:16 is one of the most difficult verses in the New Testament to interpret. “If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.” Of all the interpretations out there, none seem to answer all the questions concerning this verse.

The best interpretation may be found by comparing this verse to what happened to Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1–10 (see also 1 Corinthians 11:30). The “sin unto death” is willful, continuous, unrepentant sin. God has called His children to holiness (1 Peter 1:16), and God corrects them when they sin. We are not “punished” for our sin in the sense of losing salvation or being eternally separated from God, yet we are disciplined. “The Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son” (Hebrews 12:6).

First John 5:16 says there comes a point when God can no longer allow a believer to continue in unrepentant sin. When that point is reached, God may decide to take the life of the stubbornly sinful believer. The “death” is physical death. God at times purifies His church by removing those who deliberately disobey Him. The apostle John makes a distinction between the “sin that leads to death” and the “sin that does not lead to death.” Not all sin in the church is dealt with the same way because not all sin rises to the level of the “sin that leads to death.”

In Acts 5:1–10 and 1 Corinthians 11:28–32, God dealt with intentional, calculated sin in the church by taking the physical life of the sinner. This is perhaps also what Paul meant by “the destruction of the flesh” in 1 Corinthians 5:5.

John says that we should pray for Christians who are sinning, and that God will hear our prayers. However, there may come a time when God decides to cut short a believer’s life due to unrepentant sin. Prayers for such an unheeding person will not be effective.

God is good and just, and He will eventually make us “a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:27). To further that end, God chastens His children. May the Lord preserve us from the hard-heartedness that would cause us to commit the “sin unto death.”

A Born Again knows they are Born Again ....I don’t care who doesn’t believe I’m Born Again...only God’s Living word do I care about......God isn’t a book...God is Alive in Spirit as is his living word the Bible, for those who are his children and are led by the Holy Spirit.....I know all about false prophets and wolves in sheep’s clothing...i also know about self righteous “ religious “ folk....all in my opinion of course.

Yes. This is why Paul commands never to QUENCH the Holy Spirit. We are not even to pray for a fellow Christian who sins a sin unto death. It would also be good not to get unequally yoked in your friendships and business partners.

1 John 5:16-17
16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.
