Republicans have historically had no issue embracing big government, so long as it fulfills their political ambitions and ideological preferences. Take for example the death penalty, abortion, gay marriage, the police state, etc. Sure, Democrats have little problem embracing big or small government depending on their political well-being and policy preferences. The difference, however, is that they also do not make a point to consistently label themselves as pro-small or big government; it is not a key identity they cling to. One would be hard-pressed to find a campaigning democrat promising to be a “big government liberal,” or a small government one, at that.

After Reagan left office, Bush picked up where Republican hypocrisy left off. The terrorist attacks on 911 gave the Republicans a golden opportunity to massively increase the powers of the state, all in the name of counter-terrorism. Just over a month after 911, Bush signed into law the Patriot Act, which made it much easier for the government to spy on Americans. The Patriot Act gave the government greater authority to monitor phone calls and emails, collect bank and credit reporting records and track Americans’ internet activity. Whether it’s anti-abortion laws or expanding the surveillance state, the Republican party laughs in the face of small-government principles and creeps further into the personal lives of people.

You know, I think that when it comes to guilt, we are just very selective about it. You are deciding to admit guilt when it comes to Christianity, yet if a liberal was to mention you feeling guilt for being white, watch how strong and tall you’ll stand just like an atheist when it comes to the Bible.

You can't be selective with guilt. It cones on you suddenly when you do something wrong, bad, say something hurtful and as soon as you do it, it is like a rush of adreniline. Can you control adrenaline? How about embarrassment, that rush of red, opps I got caught with my zipper down or hand in the cookie jar. Or maybe something serious: Let's say you are a thief. You know stealing is against the law, but you think you are slick. You steal and don't feel bad about it, you are callous. It happens when you keep doing something bad over and over again. No guilt ... until you get caught. Now you are arrested in front of the public, you hide your face ... now you begin to feel it. Then the court case, then the judgment, then prison sentence - your guilty whether you feel it or not. Well, according to the law of God, we have all sinned and fallbshort if perfection. We can't pay for our sins, impossible, there are thousands. We are all like dirty rags. Which brings up our Savior. He paid the price for our sins. Now, there is non condemnation.
I have roomed with black, Hispanic, Jew, Indian so I am not prejudice. Why shouldnI feel guilt for the color Gid made me ... nor should anyone feel guilt. My Grandfather came over from Italy two generations ago. He worked hard and so did my Dad. I was not privileged. I had to go to school and was given the opportunity to do well or not. I wasn't given any free pass for my color or putting the head of the line for a job because of Affirmative Action.
I was brought up with the work ethic that states success in life should be based on merit.

Psychopaths and sociopaths have no problem when it comes to rationalizing any feelings of guilt they may have. Your emotions have as much power as you give them. If a Muslim was to tell you to ask Allah for forgiveness, you would probably scoff at it. This is how atheists see it when a Christian tries to convince them of needing forgiveness.

became a Christian. When you are spiritually blind, you resort to common rational reasoning, your senses, experiences, knowledge, etc.; but even so, "since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. Can you really look at the complexity and beauty of life on earth and the universe, and think it happened by chance and a mindless series of mutations (defects) being put together piece by piece over millionsif years?
Newsflash: Nature has no mind/ intelligence to select and order anything. Life was created finished. Man did not evolve from a primordial slime, nor did any other creature.
But you can hold onto that theory. But can it give you comfort, love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, hope, a sense of meaning and purpose in life? I guess for you all those qualities evolved too.
The atheist wants to be in charge of their own destiny and doesn't want any authority over him. He wants to sit on his own throne. Let's see how that works out for you in the coming years? We are approaching a time in history called the Great Tribulation.
