Well we fear the Lord since JESUS told us to. To fear He who can destroy both body and soul in hell.To me it means no more looking for a fiery adversary of judgment and indignation that will devour all that destroys the way but hoping and looking for, loving His appearance. No more looking for thief coming to take our goods.
Paul spoke of losing all things to win Christ.
To me if there has been a loss of all things to be consumed and destroyed being told it perishes …why fear the fire upon that which is corruptible? Having this Hope in that which is incorruptible? To me that is what makes another the riches and wealth hidden in secret places of the heart, God after the hidden man of the heart. We say God is after the hidden man of our heart? To me God in us is after the inner man in another heart, which IS the hidden man of our heart (His Spirit which is of a great price and precious to God) made manifest; because everyone added unto God is the pearl(His Spirit, His fruit) in building up (edifying) His Kingdom. Not building our own kingdom but His. Adding unto Him. Still to me, God hid the treasure in the one place flesh refuses to go, even spiting at it and persecuting that way… flesh unwilling to go to the one he persecuted. The flesh is weak, but the Spirit is willing.
Have you ever noticed how nearly all of the Old Testament patriarchs lived in the land of Canaan at one time or another, yet they never received the promises of God as Paul writes. Paul says the received the promises of God, that they were the children of promise.Well we fear the Lord since JESUS told us to. To fear He who can destroy both body and soul in hell.
God hiding His treasure in our earthen vessels...reminds me of Elijah dousing the altar not just once but two times with a lot of water, and still it couldn't thwart the fire from heaven consuming the sacrifice. It is to God's glory, to show His mighty power.
You mentioned in another post about the Hebrew boys thrown in the furnace heated seven times and weren't burned. That is not an allegory of the final judgment and lake of fire......but it is on this-wise:
Isa 43:1-2
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
And this is speaking to the believing and obedient, not the unbelieving and disobedient. The unbelieving and disobedient have reason to fear the final judgment and lake of fire.

No, Actually we love him,Dude, these peoples truly hate your guts.
Define triumph for us you know Greek right ? What about English ?Only as we abide IN Christ. We ALWAYS triumph IN Christ. In Him is NO sin!
They hate the truth. I don't take it personally. :)Dude, these peoples truly hate your guts.
Projecting againThey hate the truth. I don't take it personally. :)
The passage you cited speaks about Christ's triumph not ours. I see no promise that if we abide in Christ that we will always triumph over sin.Only as we abide IN Christ. We ALWAYS triumph IN Christ. In Him is NO sin!

Being freed from this body of death is a future hope, not a current reality.
Romans 7:21-25
I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully agree with the law of God in the inner person, but I see a different law in the parts of my body waging war against the law of my mind, and making me a prisoner of the law of sin, the law which is in my body’s parts. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
As long as I walk around in this body of death, I will occasionally experience a moral failure. Abiding in Christ is not a guarantee of moral success. Abiding in Christ is a guarantee of being set free of this body of death when he returns. Paul refers to this event as our "glorification", which comes after our "sanctification."
Right now, we are being sanctified as we walk in the Spirit.
The law of the Spirit of life makes us fly above and beyond the pull of sin the way the law of flight OVERCOMES the law of gravity. When we walk in the Spirit we don't sin...Romans 8:9-11
However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
The essential question in this lifetime is whether or not we are "in the flesh" or "in the Spirit" If we are "in the Spirit" and "walking in the spirit" then he who raised Jesus from the dead will also give life to our mortal bodies through his spirit who dwells in us. In this lifetime, we will walk in the Spirit if indeed the spirit of God dwells in us. Then, in the next life, he will give life to our mortal bodies.
Death is the final enemy and when death is defeated we will be free from this body of death.
You see, when we typically hear the word "death" our minds turn to the loss of biological viability. When I die, my body will cease to function and they will lay my body down into the grave.
But the Bible speaks about another mode of death: destructive behaviors. We give it other names: divorce, war, malice, dissolution of friendships, maliciousness, malevolence, and things such as these. To the degree that we cause a break down in human relations, and our love has grown cold, to that degree we are the cause of death in this world.
If a child should leave home, hating his parents, it's as if the child is dead to the parents, and his parents are dead to him.
Even these modes of "death" will be defeated at the return of Jesus Christ. No more malice, no more hatred, no more anger, no more enemies, and etc. Thanks be to God that I will no longer be the cause of death all around me.
I don't get any spirit of Cain from you! :) The vitriol comes from those who not only have a wrong doctrine but who also champion the uncrucified flesh against any exhortation to seek the face of God.p.s. I don't hate you. :)
I agree. When we speak the truth around here we get called all kinds of hateful, dismissive and belittling things, but that doesn't bother his followers who say we are the ones who hate for just saying what the bible says.Projecting again
Oh my. We are always seeking to do better and to walk as Jesus walked but do it in such a way that doesn't dig out the foundation which is the only means by which anyone can grow and walk as He walked. The opposite is true. There is no overcoming in this life if there is no current reality of being an overcomer. Why would Jesus exhort people to overcome as He did...if we only overcome sin by a physical death? did Jesus overcome while He lived or after He died?
John says that all who abide IN Him ought to walk even as He walked. That's while we are alive.
That is BEFORE Paul was crucified and translated into the higher spiritual walk. There's still Romans 8 to consider.
There is no sin whatsoever in holiness. When we put on Christ we put on His perfection...His holiness. In Him is no sin. Anything to the contrary is just unbelief.
Anybody can claim to be a believer and continue to sin. The faith part of the walk is to believe that God can do anything...if you believe God then seek Him WHERE He is....and be translated into an intimate abiding place to walk as He walked.
That is the Christian walk...which few even believe in any more let alone experience. It's the sign of the times.
I don't understand why it is so offensive for people to admit they are NOT walking like Paul or the early believers. The bible speaks of greater things.
There is no "being sanctified"....we are either holy or we are not. We are either walking as Jesus walked...or as carnal men...in the power of the flesh.
Sure, we can be LED by the Spirit...but then so were the Israelites in the wilderness LED by the Spirit. How many of them entered into the Promised Land? That in itself should cause us all to wake up out of our spiritual slumber...
The law of the Spirit of life makes us fly above and beyond the pull of sin the way the law of flight OVERCOMES the law of gravity. When we walk in the Spirit we don't sin...
Sure. But there is a sacrifice we can make before we physically die. That is the call of the cross. Those who offer themselves to God fully...body and soul...will receive a full measure of grace that makes them overcomers WITH Christ.
We can be a light...a sacrificed vessel who now walks in the life and power that resurrected Jesus from the dead. Believe in that... even if you never experience it...and you will escape the judgment on those who persist in unbelief.
I don't get any spirit of Cain from you! :) The vitriol comes from those who not only have a wrong doctrine but who also champion the uncrucified flesh against any exhortation to seek the face of God
Why did Jesus condemn the Pharisees? It was because they limited God by thinking what they had was all there was. They claimed to "see" when they clearly were blind.
It is far better to admit to God that you are blind so you can ask Him for the ability to see. God gives grace to the humble. All I ever ask is to take God at His word and seek Him for confirmation. But seek Him personally.
Sadly he is all over the place. He does not see how contradictory his system is. To itselfOh my. We are always seeking to do better and to walk as Jesus walked but do it in such a way that doesn't dig out the foundation which is the only means by which anyone can grow and walk as He walked.
Yes, beware that new age spirit that Spurgeon warned was coming to infiltrate the church.....it's one slippery eel and doesn't really care how it deceives, and morphs into whatever works for it....hence there are so many false religions and forms of idolatry. Father of lies and webs and snares.
Because they were people of FAITH and thus were seeking what is heavenly, not what is earthly. The city and true land of promise that is ABOVE. The kingdom that didn't really come until Jesus died and rose again. And we who follow Christ are sojourners, strangers and pilgrims as they were, following the Way that leads to where He is.Have you ever noticed how nearly all of the Old Testament patriarchs lived in the land of Canaan at one time or another, yet they never received the promises of God as Paul writes. Paul says the received the promises of God, that they were the children of promise.
How is it Abraham lived in that land yet never lived in the land flowing with milk and honey?
its rather odd indeed my friend . To EPI the bible does contain truth , TILL that TRUTH contradicts the great Thus sayeth the EPI .Projecting again
Exactly sister.I agree. When we speak the truth around here we get called all kinds of hateful, dismissive and belittling things, but that doesn't bother his followers who say we are the ones who hate for just saying what the bible says.
Its the old saying hate the sin and love the sinner- hate the false doctrines/teachings and love the person- if a person loves truth they will hate the lies, false doctrines. its no different but once again several here conflate the two. but they are the actual ones who are hating the person with all the vitriol, insults, mocking, name calling, ad hominems etc......its rather odd indeed my friend . To EPI the bible does contain truth , TILL that TRUTH contradicts the great Thus sayeth the EPI .
He thinks we hate the truth , when in fact its the false doctrine he brings that we wont tolerate .
Thus sayeth the epi , Muslims buddists , atheiest and all , there is no need to believe ON CHRIST
believe in THINE OWN SELF for thine own righteousness , for to carry thine own cross
YE have the power , sayeth the epi , ITS YOU and lies within you . THUS making void the dire need
to believe in and have faith in CHRIST . ONLY he cannot see this .
For he cries unto those whose faith is in CHRIST , your EGO HUGE he says
yet all the while its HE pointing us and other religions and all to EGO , TO SELF . TO SELF righteousness
TO self . He cannot see . he simply cannot see . That all that he accuses us of He is guilty of it all my friend .
Since when did pointing to CHRIST , relying ON HE ALONE become SELF
and pointing to our own merits , our own power become POINTING TO GOD . IT DIDNT . Epi has no idea
what he is doing . But as for the lambs we shall glory in GOD and HIS CHRIST . And unto HE shall we point
and unto HE shall we give all honor and thanksgivings .
SELF aint gonna save oneself . BUT I KNOW ONE WHO CAN SAVE and GIVE Us the ABLITY to walk righteously . HIS NAME
JESUS CHRIST . SO HE alone is who the lambs gonna point too .
And what does the new age point man unto . YE ARE THE GODS .Yes, beware that new age spirit that Spurgeon warned was coming to infiltrate the church.....it's one slippery eel and doesn't really care how it deceives, and morphs into whatever works for it....hence there are so many false religions and forms of idolatry. Father of lies and webs and snares.
Pride makes one believe they can re-invent the wheel (make another gospel).....one-upping God was Lucifer's downfall.
