Yes, closure ...The cover ups were a kind of attempt at closure on a traumatic past.
Thanks again for posting the video.
@Truman I suppose your son's mother thought for him it would add some individuality as he became an adult, right? Can you imagine if we were all the same? Boring!
@TLHKAJ Yes. Getting tattooed for closure, would probably make a good title or summary for what's on the video, right?Yes, closure ...
I like the title of the video much better, actually...@TLHKAJ Yes. Getting tattooed for closure, would probably make a good title or summary for what's on the video, right?
@TLHKAJ It's like the outward expressing of a prior and deeper inner meaning. The tattoo is not the focus, but what God has done in her heart.
Maybe.@Truman I suppose your son's mother thought for him it would add some individuality as he became an adult, right?
It was probably something he wanted to do anyway, but she likely thought it would be a way of expressing his personality.
@TLHKAJ You're right. It's the trauma and faith experience that is the main narrative; the ink is an aspect that merely flows from it.I like the title of the video much better, actually...
"Called by Name: an Incredible Chosen Story"
The tattoos aren't the main focus.
No knowing what might have been in her mind, though, when she encouraged him to do it....Maybe.
@Naomi25 So did your parents find out about it yet? :)Lol! Like her Aunt HAS! My sister confessed to me not long ago that she got a sneaky little tattoo of a cross on her wrist. She has forbidden me from telling our parents
Her encouraging it is not a given...she may have just allowed it.No knowing what might have been in her mind, though, when she encouraged him to do it....
@Truman Well, I see. Sounds like your son was really motivated to get it, right? Her encouraging it is not a given...she may have just allowed it.
@Truman I guess it's what she just thought you....needed, right?I guess. I got my ear pierced when I was 16, but it was my girlfriend that motivated me to do that.
@TLHKAJ Although branding as well as tattooing - distinct from each other - is a recognized form of bodyart, it's particularly terrible to do it when forced. No wonder she found it traumatic.
She was not only tattooed but carved.
I don't think it's something that God particularly honors ...especially carving and branding. These people who brand and carve their victims do so in a brutal way, and I don't see that as an honorable practice under any circumstances. I know another survivor who was brutally carved on her body by her handlers. It happens a lot. I suffered something similar, which was more of a mutilation to punish me.@TLHKAJ Although branding as well as tattooing - distinct from each other - is a recognized form of bodyart, it's particularly terrible to do it when forced. @TLHKAJ Seems like your daughter and this young woman in question have had really special reasons for doing it, like you imply.I don't think it's something that God particularly honors ...especially carving and branding. And honestly, I'm not a fan of getting tattoos for the sake of individuality or self expression, etc. I do respect my daughter as well as this young woman for their reasons behind getting a tattoo.
Yeah, I guess.@Truman I guess it's what she just thought you....needed, right?
I stopped wearing it during my last marriage. She didn't like it. I just haven't bothered wearing it since.@Truman So did it last long in your ear...?
