I can think fine, thanks. And the remark that you made is sexist. Men are no better at apologetics than women.

I read that some Catholics believe that Mary was born of a virgin too. Is this true? Do some Catholics believe this way?

I just think the repetition and prayers to Mary is too much and crosses over a line. Our prayers and worship need to be focused on the Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
I've personally never talked to an Angel, but I had one talk to me and what he told me happened the next day, he spoke to me in the spirit, so it wasn't words.

No Mary was conceived naturally by her parents but without original sin!

Christ is born of a virgin! Isa 7:14
And a virgin consecrated to God’s service must be Perpetual

What lies?
LIES:
"Ever Virgin"
"Never had kids other than Jesus"
"Mary was SINLESS"
"Mary was Immaculately conceived"
"Mary was Assumed into Heaven"
"Jesus has to OBEY HER", so Roman Catholics are trained to pray to HER to get what they want out of Jesus.

Okay. Yeh Jesus was born without original sin. This isn't true about Mary, but it is probably how I got this. Is this something from the Apocrypha? Where do you get that Mary was without original sin?

Yeah I'm not following that idea either. The bible spells out that Jesus had brothers and sisters if I remember correctly.

Matthew 13:55“Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56“And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” 57And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.” 58And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

I have heard all of these except for the last line...

I am thankful if looking at Mary brings you closer to God. I would just be careful to question what you believe and line it up to the Bible rather then follow man's teachings. It goes for any faith/believing. But it really is a serious thing if you put Mary in the same place or higher then Jesus Christ. She was a sinner like any one of us but was bestowed with honor.

Interesting fact for me. Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother visited me in vision of their holy spirits. And I was forgiven of my sins. I was filled with great love and peace for hours afterward as holy spirit fruits of confirmation (Galatians 5:22-23). I've always wondered about that vision and who she was and what it meant that she stood next to God. God appeared as if he were of super high intelligence, but she appeared as a normal spirit. I've since come to believe that she is Mary, mother of Jesus since she appeared as a normal spirit and not Godly.

But what does that mean and why is Mary involved in my forgiveness. It seems to point to some Catholic idea. Anyways, I'm not really sure so I'm still open to God to understand. Hope it's OK for me to share this.

He must grant her prayers and requests That’s a commandment! honor Thy father and mother!

Totally RIDICULOUS!!!

she is also our mother!

Sorry, but she's not your "Mother". That's nothing but Roman Catholic FOOLISHNESS!!! Mary is Jesus' physical mother - which is quite enough without all Rome's fancy, but meaningless "titles".

MY MOTHER was Ida Mary Margaret Boyd/Carabbio, who passed away in '79.

There is a reason for this virgin thing and I find humor in it....how many ways could it be messed up and show how men handled all that went on.

Read Isaiah 7:1 to 8:22 just as back ground.

The Hebrew word for virgin got messed up in the Septuagint translation referring to a woman after she was raped as a virgin.
They have been arguing over that for centuries.
Concepts of virginity....is at the heart of this..... besides the hymen it is considered as purity.
Christ's mother had to be pure .... continually....since virginity equaled purity....they made it so.
Also the hymen served as barrier to prove that God did not enter her to impregnate her.

The whole thing is difficult for Christians to handle.....Miriam engaged and impregnated by some one other than Joseph is not a good thing and no prophecy for that.
God so loved the world that He zapped a baby in Miriam's womb. No, that is not what it says and not what happened.....Yahweh impregnated Miriam.

Christ is the begotten Son of Yahweh....Most people know what begotten means, but they do not like it. His real Son. Now how that physically happened ....whatever makes you feel good is ok with me....bottom line Miriam told the angel that she had not known a man...that is the best testament of her virginity. After she conceived she was no longer a virgin.....LOL....But she could still say she had not known a man....Again LOL And she certainly was not a virgin after she delivered Yeshua.

Part of this is just weirdos! They could not wrap their head around God the Father touching anything as nasty as a woman's genitalia, nor Christ passing through it during delivery. So they more or less came up with the tradition that Christ was beamed into Miriam's womb......Beam me down Scotty! and then beamed out of her womb at birth....Beam me out! That way she retained her hymen and they could call her the Virgin Mary perpetually.

Hello Mary? I thought you turned a bead and said hail Mary with each bead. I'm not Catholic, but this is what my aunt had described to me what a rosary is for. So it is saying "hello Mary" so you say it like thirty times or do I misunderstand that?

Hail Mary...
hail

verb (2)
hailed; hailing; hails
Definition of hail (Entry 3 of 5)

transitive verb

1a: to greet with enthusiastic approval : ACCLAIMhailed as a great success
b: SALUTE, GREETreturning soldiers hailed with parades
2: to greet or summon by callinghail a taxi

Isn't this what Gabriel did in Luke 1:28?

Yes, you say it for every bead. Do you know the words?
See if you can recognize where they come from...
Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Sound familiar? Read Luke 1.
And do you know WHY the rosary was instituted?
You could find out you know...
Instead of living the rest of your life listening to lies and jokes,
why not use Professor Google to find out what Catholics REALLY teach?

And, if you're not really interested, that's fine too
but maybe you could stop making silly arguments against Catholicism?

One time I worked at Target and a friend was Catholic. He believed that if he read the Bible, worms would eat out his eyes. I had to explain to him that I read the Bible daily and that never happened with me. I don't think that is an average Catholic teaching, but that was pretty weird. I am sure there are different sects in Catholicism.
Oh for goodness sakes Mayflower, the guy was pulling your leg.
He was probably tired of what we Protestants tend to do:
Always talk about Jesus. Sometimes this turns people to the off position and we have to know when to stop or we do more harm than good.
Don't you know that Catholic churches have bible studies?
And the bible is read at every Mass: The O.T., the N.T. epistle and one of the Gospels.

There are different cultural Catholics,,,but not different "denominations" like in Protestantism.
I think we've made a mess of God's Word.

But I also do not read the Apocrypha either or know what that is about.
Neither do I.
It's books that are not included in the bible.

Apocrypha (Ancient Greek: ἀπόκρυφος, 'the hidden [things]') are the biblical books received by the early Church as part of the Greek version of the Old Testament, but not included in the Hebrew Bible, being excluded by the non-Hellenistic Jews from their canon. Their position in Christian usage has been ambiguous.[1]

There are several levels of dubiety within the general concept of apocryphal works in Judeo-Christian biblical writings. Apocrypha per se are outside the Hebrew Bible canon, not considered divinely inspired but regarded as worthy of study by the faithful.[2] Pseudepigrapha are spurious works ostensibly written by a biblical figure. Deuterocanonical works are those that are accepted in one canon but not in all.[3]

Biblical apocrypha are a set of texts included in the Septuagint and the Latin Vulgate, but not in the Hebrew Bible. While the Catholic tradition considers seven of these books to be deuterocanonical, Protestants consider fourteen intertestamental books as Apocrypha, that is, non-canonical books that are useful for instruction.[4][2] Luther's Bible placed them in a separate section called the Apocrypha, setting the pattern for subsequent versions of 80 book Protestant Bibles that include the Old Testament, Apocrypha and New Testament.[5][6]

I will play your game....LOL....So lets say Yahweh did not impregnate Miriam? So what is Christ....not the Son of God?
I am basically going with what the scriptures say....the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God....only begotten Son....conceived .....and birth....God has a Son?
Now if you can find words like "miraculously manifested in her womb" I am good with that.
If not I have to take your rudeness as ignorance. Unless LOL you have a better description that will fit into the scriptures.
I understand that most Christians have issues with this whole sequence....that is the whole sex is dirty, nasty, and sinful thing that came forward.
I have a sense of humor.....even if you do not have something that will fit into the scriptures....lets hear how you think that event happened. I enjoy how people try to describe it.

did he say he made a mistake? I must have missed it.
Does a person have to acknowledge a mistake in order for him to have made one?

That is what he said. Prayer, too, is an act of worship. And since God alone is omnipresent, that means Mary cannot even hear your prayers, but God can, and so does Jesus.
Good thinking.
Wonder if theologians have ever considered this?
Those on the Catholic end, I mean.
We must be so much smarter than they are...

We don't know what goes on in heaven.
We only know what has been revealed to us.
I'm Protestant.
But let's leave the Catholics alone.
We have enough problems between ourselves to spend the rest of our lives on.

Tell me what you think about Word of Faith churches?
Do they think God is Santa Claus?

What about the reformed?
Did God pick YOU, lucky Cassandra, or did you have something to do with your salvation?

What about salvation?
Can it be forfieted?

And do we all believe in the Trinity?
A requirement for even being defined as a Christian!

These seem like more important questions to me.
Catholics may have some doctrine wrong...don't all denominations?

Wow Enoch...
Ditto what @Grailhunter said.

Read Luke 1:35

Luke 1:31
31“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

Luke 1:34
34Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?

Luke 1:35
35The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

AND FOR THAT REASON THE HOLY CHILD WILL BE CALLED THE SON OF GOD.
THE HOLY CHILD WILL BE CALLED THE SON OF GOD.
THE SON OF GOD.
