Paul was so spot on when he said it would be better to remain single, as he himself was.
To me, the best part is that you do not have to go through such deep grief when a spouse dies. And to me, that is the worst kind of pain. You learn to depend on God MUCH more, especially if your body is broken and cannot do the things we once could...even the smallest of things He comes through for us...every time. Well, at least once our tantrum is over ... j/k but not really...
Just saying that being single is not the horrible prison most think it is...it is freedom and HE gives us the strength to move on, no matter our attitude at the moment, we just keep coming back to Jesus as, He is always there.

This is a pretty good answer but I wonder if a person can be deceived by pride in his or hers interpretation of the Bible.
I mean if two people talk about God, that’s a church.
This forum is a virtual church.
If you don’t want “a church” then you need to be alone and pray. But some of you have a problem with monks who do this. So it’s all very confusing.

Yes indeed their can be pride within a person . Its something all must be on gaurd against . ALWAYS remember
anything a person knows comes From GOD . ITS a gift . Thus use it to honor the LORD and not to exalt oneself .
And ps , some of us are alreadying having church . We meet in tiny groups . Some on the phone and etc , some in person .

Pray about it , cause the letters from the apostels and gospels of JESUS aint all that hard to truly grasp .
Often when differences arise , its due to a pre concieved idea taught of men from their own perspectives .
Too many pre , post , mid , too many despinsationalism , etc , too many precepts of men have messed many up .
IF we would simply read the letters for ourselves , most of it is very simple to understand .
Only a few parts might be harder to grasp . But with prayer and a willing heart that should be made clear in time .

Aka , we got lutheran persepective , calvin persepective , OSAS perspective , we got pre trib , we got mid trib we got post trib .
We got all these teachings that have been handed down by men . THE ONLY problem is they cant all be right ..............
LEARN the bible for yourselves .
It is not like paul , peter , jude , james were writting letters in hidden code that only wise scholars could grasp .
PS they were LETTERS to the churches . NO HIDDEN MESSAGES only SCHOLARS COULD UNDERSTAND .

I remember getting my first "bible". It was when making either my First Communion or my Confirmation in the CC. All it was were the Psalms and Proverbs. I never even knew that at the time until my mom had gotten hold of a "Good News" bible. Had to be in the 70's.
All those letters never even given to the very church they were meant for!

That is so sad sister . But true it is . This is how a powerful cult can be born . They feed them their own decievings
and keep silent , OR TWIST the other parts that prove their error . This is truly why , specially in this deceptive day and age ,
we are far better off learning the bible for our own selves . Look at all the twisting prosperity preachers do
or emergent , or liberal , or sadly even most evanglicals , let alone what ROME has done . Its a mess sister .
BUT THE LORD knows those who are HIS , and i say let all who name the name of JESUS depart from inquity
AND GET IN the bible for yourselves and learn it well . GOD is with the lambs . HE Knows how to take care of us .

That's called 'being friends'.
That means you go home to your house at night, and they go home to theirs.

But as someone pointed out, you're kidding yourself if you think you can have that kind of relationship without it leading to something more. I'm not saying it definitely will happen, but it probably will. 'Friendship' with the opposite sex is dangerous if you think it really is going to only be friendship. And, honestly, I think we all know this deep down, but we hide behind that defense to indulge secret desires.

I would agree except two in the case of an elderly couple. Could be more about physical support and shared resources than a love affair. I don't see an elderly couple causing too many folks to stumble. I'm sure there are cases of an elderly person who simply could not get by without a live in companion to help with expenses or care.
