I cannot believe I am seeing all these posts about hand-washing, and the snide remarks within them! Common sense dictates that we wash our hands whenever necessary. Which has nothing to do with the ceremonial washing of hands etc.

A Builder mate of mine on the jobsite would just put a pie on the dash of his car and then eat it at lunch time and claimed why don't I just do like him and I said no thanks I don't do things like that. but some people can eat rotten meat that stinks like hell, I know of the abos in the outback that can eat anything rotten like that with no problems at all, but it's not for me.

That builder mate had the pox for years and never knew he had it, his second wife could not have kids because of him and she wanted to have a tribe of kids as she was a Maori and seen such as a thing to do, she talked as such was like a competition among other woman but he did not like kids at all even hated kids and he is 1/4 Maori himself, he is white but looks like a silverback and takes pride in people making claims of him being such, just the other day he was on the phone to me and he said about his brother not having arms as long as him, they are about 5ft10 but his arms are 2in longer not to mention that he has really bowed legs like you would not believe and everyone recons he is the missing link. not to mention that he truly always claims that if his legs were straight he would be as tall as me, what 4 inches of bow in his legs I said you must be measuring from you gut as well to make that up. I have seen him come off his dirt bike and land on his head many a time.

Washing hands is another overrated thing that people place too much emphasis on:

"And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner. And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness." (Luke 11:38-39)

Jesus was referring to the spiritual condition of their heart....you're misapplying this scripture to support hand washing as a defense against the transmission of disease.
It doesn't matter if your hands are clean or dirty because that won't have any effect on your spiritual well being.

Yes it's like un Godly people who outwardly promote themselves as being the standard to be set, like the Politically Correct Marxist Socialist who is a total grub on the inside but claims to be clean on the outside and for all to follow their lead, or they will claim you to be the one who is out of step ! it's just typical carnal dupes like that of the Jews who reject Jesus Christ, not to mention they who claim to be Christians saying lord lord but Jesus says that he never knew them.
Jesus starts from the inside to clean you and the outside that's up to you to deal with.
A dupe makes himself look clean to others on the outside and has no regard for the inside.

In the scripture I quoted, my friend, Jesus spoke against washing hands before eating supper.

Wether it was ceremonial or not makes no difference to the CONTEXT of the passage.

And it is plainly obvious that Jesus did NOT wash before eating which is why the Pharisee found offense against Jesus.
