Does The Bible Speak Against Nudity?

Cause for starters when Adam and Eve were first created obviously they were both naked. Second of all as long as you're not having sex with everybody in town for nudist colonies I don't really have one opinion or another about it. I actually enjoy being naked myself,.. but I don't think I would want everybody in the neighborhood to see me naked, and I don't think that I could unsee everybody else all natural as well. Also, what do women do when they get on their mensuration cycle in these colonies?

The only nakedness you have a right to is your own and your (opposite sex) spouse, as confirmed by the above verses. There are so many other verses related to nakedness and modesty. It's late and I need sleep. I'll try to get back to this tomorrow. :)

I am not a nudist myself. I don't make excuses to be without clothes. My own experience has been that I'd rather not have my family or others I am close to seeing me naked. If it's a context where nudity is appropriate like a locker room, I'd much rather be seen by strangers because there's a certain amount of anonymity. In those instances, I really don't care what parts of me others see and what I see of them. We all have the same parts, and I'll never see them again, so I really don't care.

I’d say God gave us His opinion on nudity in public when He gave Adam and Eve clothing to put on, wouldn’t you say?

I have never understood that to be a divine judgement against nudity. Remember that they were naked before the Fall and unashamed about it. I think it was a divine reaction to the shame that they felt upon their realizing that they were without clothes.

To me, this is exposure for sexual purposes, not being naked unto itself. There are people in this world who have no issues with family members seeing them naked without attaching anything sexual about it, and even though I am not that way, I take no umbrage with it because everyone has different thresholds for what is comfortable.

It is speaking of both nakedness and sexual activity. There are two words that give strong indication this is speaking of physical nakedness... "uncovering" and of course, "nakedness."

There is no way you can interpret the two Exodus scriptures any other way because it is speaking of wearing garments to cover one's nakedness.

I suppose if you consider the only two people on the planet 'public' you could perhaps make a case......but no, their nakedness was not lack of clothing, it was a very rapid plummet of their self image resulting in each blaming the other and God.

This 'nakedness' has been passed on to all their progeny. Our greatest affliction is lack of self worth.
The lack of self worth is the springboard of all evil.
Humanity dies in the process of dying.

Yeah, I wouldn't really say that nudity in that sense would be an issue then if it's a requirement for gym class or something.

In the other thread about teenage sexuality, I brought up the subject of communication and how we can speak falsehood with our bodies.

This is a related subject because, if you think about it, exposing our genitals to another person is one of the most intimate acts we can perform. Think of all the ideas we associate with privacy: closeness, trust, a confidant, a friend. A confidant, for instance, is someone to whom private matters are confided. Only this person is allowed to know my innermost thoughts, and feelings. There are ideas, deep-seated fears and doubts, inward dispositions, and embarrassing dreams that I would share with no one other than Zoe. She is the only person, other than the Father and Jesus, that I can trust with such information.

Being nude in front of another person, bespeaks the idea of trust, closeness, privacy, intimacy, which is not a bad thing as such. Such a thing is unrighteous and sinful when the implied intimacy is false. Adam and Eve wanted to cover up because they felt vulnerable and exposed, not wanting God to know they disobeyed. God understood our need for privacy, which is why he made clothes for Adam and Eve. This also explains the evil of pornography, which gives the false impression that a women seeks intimacy with those who put eyes on her.

Those who live in nudist colonies are lying to each other for the sake of their feeling of freedom.

On the contrary, IMO it was because as promised, they got full knowledge of good and evil from the forbidden fruit, and thus had an adult awareness of being naked, as opposed to a naive child-like awareness they had before. Children aren’t shy about being nude - adults are.

It's not for me, but it's not wrong at all. I'd never judge you for it just like I'd never judge folks who like to hang around at nude beaches. Go right ahead if that is what you like doing. :)

Here is something for you to ponder God made us knowing full well satan would deceive us then we filled the earth, we have something they did not have over 2000 years ago - the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life that's how much God loves us.

Has anyone here considered that Adam and Eve, being in God's presence daily, were clothed in His glory, much like Moses who came down from the mountain after being in God's presence, shining so brightly that the people couldn't look on his face? Adam and Eve weren't naked in that respect. They were only naked in that they had no need of clothing.

After Adam and Eve fell, they lost their covering and saw their nakedness. Their efforts to clothe themselves with fig leaves were quite inadequate. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. God gave them clothing that required sacrifice.... foreshadowing the sacrifice Jesus would one day come to offer, His own blood. And also speaking to our efforts of good works being inadequate. Jesus Christ is our righteousness. Our righteousness is as filthy rags.

Now ....if God saw fit that Adam and Eve needed clothing/covering .....why should we suppose otherwise?
