Huge 420-million-year-old fish species rediscovered in Indian Ocean

A humongous "fossil fish" with origins that can be traced back 420 million years has resurfaced in the West Indian Ocean off the coast of Madagascar.

The 6.5-feet, up to 198-pound coelacanth (Latimeria chalumnae) was believed to have gone extinct at least a century ago. However, a recent study published in the SA Journal of Science revealed that as of May 2020 as many as 334 coelacanth captures had been documented.

Does this put a flaw in carbon dating of fossils, or lead to a loch ness monster realizm? Thoughts?

I don't believe in the Loch Ness monster, but I heard about the fish being found alive and that's pretty cool.

Yeah I'm skeptic too, but they used to think giant squid were sailor myths until they started seeing suction marks on whales and observed some deep underwater:

What I don't understand is how they determined something in such a large, and largely unexplored body of water as the ocean was extinct to begin with?

Sure, it looks prehistoric, but they needed a bit more than that to go on.

I'm sure they have carbon dated it to 420 million years old. But yeah extinct?

I know that a 420 million-year old fish story is part of the enemy's deception of the world spoke of in scripture. Evolution says that God doesn't exist.
