Luke 4:16
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.../KJV
Hmmm. There seems to be some sort of confusion among Sabbath, worship and rest.
But I dont even know how to "keep the Sabbath" in an orthodox way.
It involves some sort of NOT business as usual but a time reserved for reflection, prayer and worship.

In another thread, I observed the Sabbath is God's gift to us. I find it odd that many oppose this gift on some misguided principle. Imagine your parents give you a nice bed to sleep in. It would be a strange principle, indeed, to not use it as intended on principle.

Our understanding is at sunset on the 10th. day.

Love, Walter

I had no clue when it was and heard something about it being Saturday. Maybe they figured that the Sabbath was an ok day to observe it because of the work week or something?

I doubt that would be right either.

I came to that conclusion myself, and have been getting better at obseving it.

Why not? God does not change is what scripture says, so gentile or not we're grafted in so should observe it to our best ability. I wonder if the Sabbath will also be observed in Heaven?

Odd because from today's devotional reading comes Ex 31:12, 15

The LORD said to Moses ... whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall be put to death.

That seems like THE EXACT OPPOSITE of superficial. :Ohz
Why did God place a 'DEATH sentence' on anyone who works on the sabbath???

That was Jesus talking and my thought was how to apply the biblical principles of the Sabbath to us as modern day Believers?

We are the Temple now, correct?
We are in Christ, and Christ is in us, correct?

So you were spot on. Reflection, Prayer and Worship. And these things take time so no work that day! And since we are the temple of the Holy Spirit and are in Christ, it almost seems like the Lord is calling us to show up for class on the Sabbath, because as was His custom he went to the Temple to read and teach!

The Sabbath is also a very good day for fasting. I was reading a little bit about yom kippur and I guess they decided that coffee is ok on yom kippur and even smoking, but no water, no food. To humble ourselves before our Lord.

Great news -
Juan enjoyed the message(John ch1) and wants to get together with me to go over it some more on Friday.
He also wants to bring a neighbor to church.

Pray for the pastor(Jim), as he is struggling a bit. However, the message made it to Juan and he wants to keep going forward.

Thank you for your prayers for Juan and pastor Jim

Ever hear of Wild At Heart by John Eldredge? I strongly recommend it. He also has a podcast and this past week started a TV series.

In the podcast, after setting up the episode in the prologue, he takes a very deliberate PAUSE; To breath, to give all your concerns to Jesus and allow yourself the gap to reconnect and be refreshed by the Holy Spirit, to get in tune with his tenor, vibe.

The Spiritual way is always slower than the hustle and bustle of busyness. While efficiency is a good business value, we cannot rush Spiritual growth. We have to wait on God's revelation in our lives. We have to ready ourselves, quiet our mind so that we may hear the Quiet Whisperer.

No way can this be achieved AND productive work be done. A body (and mind) is either at rest or in motion.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God!

Do you remember corollaries in math? One cannot know God and be in motion. And per John 17:3, knowing God is eternal life. This equation reduces to "Being still = eternal life."

His frequency? From what I understand The entirety of creation vibrates. The earth dows, the plants, animals stars, everything. Scripture talks about all of Creation praising His name and if plants & animals and stars & planets can oraise God then, they're prolly conscious in a manner of speaking.

Just because I dont speak dog or tree language doesnt mean they arent conscious and praising God. But we can perceive it scientiffically through vibrations.
