"Yehoshua" is a Hebrew name that means "The Lord is salvation." It is the original Hebrew name for Jesus, who is referred to as Yeshua in modern Hebrew. "Mashiach" (or "Messiah" in English) means "Anointed One."

In Christianity, Jesus (Yeshua) is believed to be the Mashiach, the long-awaited Messiah who fulfills the prophecies of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Christians believe that Jesus' life, death, and resurrection fulfilled these messianic prophecies and that he is the Savior of humanity, bringing salvation and reconciliation with God.

Here are a few key points about Jesus as the Messiah in Christian belief:

  1. Fulfillment of Prophecies:
    • Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled numerous Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah. For example, Isaiah 53 describes the suffering servant, which Christians interpret as referring to Jesus' crucifixion.
  2. Divine Nature:
    • Christians believe that Jesus is both fully God and fully human. This belief is rooted in passages like John 1:1-14, which speaks of the Word (Jesus) becoming flesh and dwelling among us.
  3. Sacrificial Death and Resurrection:
    • Central to Christian faith is the belief in Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross and his resurrection three days later. This event is seen as the ultimate act of redemption for humanity's sins.
  4. Second Coming:
    • Christians also believe in the Second Coming of Christ, when Jesus will return to establish God's kingdom on earth fully.
  5. Eternal Life:
    • Through faith in Jesus as the Messiah, Christians believe they receive eternal life and a restored relationship with God.
