Justin Trudeau is being forced out of office as we speak.....he has announced his upcoming resignation as soon as his party elects another leader. The very anti-woke Conservative party is leading hugely in the polls and is positioned to win the next federal election here in a landslide.

Canada is a modern, large and viable nation in it's own right. This isn't some backwater Arctic outpost and we dont live in igloos. America doesn't get to just help itself to this country...it's not going to happen. I have always considered America to be our friend and neighbour, but to my shock and sorrow, it is starting to look otherwise, wow, wow, what an eye-opener. Never had you pegged this way. People who call themselves Christians think this is ok??

If Emperor Trump overplays his hand I can tell you there will be undesirable consequences. I live here and know the mood and nature of the people. Not an expert but I think Canada will be forced to look for allies elsewhere, both economically and militarily. To start with, other Commonwealth nations would back us, as well as at least part of Europe. And we might be forced to increase trade with unsavory countries. America could quickly find itself alone in the world. I wouldn't recommend a self-serving move against this nation for both our sakes and strongly suggest you folks retract your greedy claws unless you want to see some Canadian fangs. Trump 10% tariffs on Canada are going to be felt by everyone.
Canada as an economic union only, with a common currency has it's supporters.

And about Greenland, lots of people there are alcoholics we see no better future ahead. And most are Inuit. American Indians also have had that sense of hopelessness before, don't know how they feel today.

And I hate that it has come to this ....a president looking with greedy eyes at what more he wants to control, as if he doesn't already have enough. Canada has severe problems, very bad times for them now. It takes time to fix bad government policy.
I was very young in the 1960's and lived in Buffalo and went to Toronto to visit many times.
One day at home we woke up to see lots of Canadian dollars scattered on the snow in our front yard, and it wasn't ours.
Canadian money was worthless in the US. We had coins and such from our visits and could not spend them anywhere.

Like bad pennies, bad coins. US dollars were worth more than Canadian dollars.

I'm not too surprised by Trump, but I am shocked and saddened at those who call themselves believers in Christ who seem happy to agree and back him no matter what he does or wants to do. Like he can do no wrong in their eyes...pretty much the definition of an idol. And that is often how dictators increase in power, it's given to them by the people. I would have thought that of all people Americans would remember that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely and they need to keep politicians of any stripe on a short leash.

America's hallowed ideal of government for the people and by the people doesn't just apply to America......but there are some here who apparently think it does.

-Education will get better from 31st (USA) to 19th (Canada).
-Math scores will improve from 34th (USA) to 9th (Canada).
-Robberies will go down from 98 per 100,000 population to 62.
-Traffic accident deaths will drop from 12.7 per 100,000 to 5.3.
-You will spend half as much on health care yet get better outcomes.
-Poverty in Canada is 1/3 the rate in the USA.
-Although Canada has fewer millionaires, we more fairly distribute wealth (better income equality).
-The minimum wage in Canada is double that in USA.
and most important you will be happier (Canada ranked 15th, USA 23rd in happiness).

Sounds like a good reason to consider moving north to Vermont.... but.....

I know of a Canadian YT homestead family who moved to Russia because of better religious freedoms. They wanted the freedom to homeschool their children and such. What are your thoughts on this? Is there a lot of religious suppression (particularly of Christians) in Canada? What about homeschooling? Farming?
