This study will demonstrate that there are five resurrections according to scripture. There is also judgement associated with them.
RESSURECTION NUMBER ONE
[1Co 15:22-23 KJV] 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
Here is the first resurrection. Jesus is the firstfruits ; without his resurrection we have no hope, our faith is vain and we are dead in our sins (1 Cor 15:17).
[Jhn 12:48 KJV] 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
[Jhn 16:11 KJV] 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
The associated judgement is upon those who reject Christ and upon the prince of this world, which is Satan.
There is an order to the rest of the resurrections, and we will go through them in order (1 Cor 15:23).
RESURRECTION NUMBER TWO
[1Cor 15:51 KJV] 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
Here we have a mystery resurrection.
Christ revealed mysteries that were hid in God and not found in the law and the prophets (Eph 3:9).
Christ formed the body of Christ which started at Paul's conversion (1 Cor 12:27). The body of Christ is formed by his grace and believing on Christ and his gospel (1 Cor 15:1,3,4).
This mystery resurrection involves only the body of Christ.
[1Th 4:14-16 KJV] 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
The first mystery resurrection is those in the body of Christ who have died.
RESURRECTION NUMBER THREE
[1Th 4:17 KJV] 17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
The second mystery resurrection is those in the body of Christ who are alive.
[1Co 15:52 KJV] 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Those in the body of Christ which are alive will be changed bodily at the last trump (1 Cor 15:53). The first trump sounds for the dead in Christ; the last trump sounds for us, alive in the body.
[2Co 5:10 KJV] 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in his body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.
The body of Christ will appear at the judgment seat, not to have our sins judged, that was paid for at the cross, but to receive reward (1 Cor 3:14).
RESURRECTION NUMBER FOUR
[Act 24:15 KJV] 15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
Paul asserted a resurrection of the just and unjust as written in the law and the prophets (Acts 24:14). Unlike the mystery resurrection, this resurrection could be found in the law and the prophets.
This resurrection is of the just. The just includes the old testament saints who had a good report through faith (Heb 11:39) and those who are Christ's at his coming (1 Cor 15:23). This resurrection will raise them to enter the kingdom on earth.
[Mat 8:11-12 KJV] 11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
It can be seen that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, will be resurrected to enter the kingdom on earth.
The children of the kingdom is Israel, but not all will enter the kingdom. Those who are believing can be cast into outer darkness, which is not hell, and not enter. What they must do, and who will enter, will be examined.
[Mat 3:12 KJV] 12 Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
John warned Israel there would be a separation and a judgment of the wheat (the just) and the chaff (the unjust).
[Mat 13:24 KJV] 24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
Jesus taught the kingdom of heaven (the kingdom on earth) in parables. Jesus taught the parable of the wheat and tares (Matthew 13:24-30) and explained it in Matthew 13:36-43. The harvest is the end of the world, the angels will gather the wicked and cast them in the furnace of fire which is hell; the righteous will shine in the kingdom.
[Mat 24:21 KJV] 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Before the kingdom on earth is fulfilled there will be a period of great tribulation (Jer 30:7).
To enter the kingdom on earth Israel had to believe on the name of Jesus (John 20:31), believe the gospel of the kingdom (Matt 4:23), be righteous (Matt 5:20) , and endure to the end (Matt 24:13).
The end of the tribulation brings in the kingdom on earth, the associated events, and the return of Christ Jesus.
[Mat 24:29-31 KJV] 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Christ will return after the tribulation to establish his kingdom.
At the end of the tribulation, he will gather together his elect (believing Israel).
[Luk 21:25, 27 KJV] 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ... 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
[Joe 2:31 KJV] 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
The celestial events described in Joel will be seen at the appearing of Christ and before the day of the Lord.
[Joe 3:2 KJV] 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and [for] my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
[Zec 14:2-3 KJV] 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
The nations will be gathered against Jerusalem and the Lord will fight against them.
[Rev 19:11-13 KJV] 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Christ will come to battle the nations arrayed against Jerusalem and his clothes are dipped in blood.
[Isa 63:1 KJV] 1 Who [is] this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this [that is] glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
When Christ returns he will come through Edom and his garments are blood soaked from battle just as Revelation 19:13 says.
[Rev 19:17-18 KJV] 17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all [men, both] free and bond, both small and great.
The angel called the fowls unto the supper of the great God when he slays the nations coming against Jerusalem.
