Acts 4:2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
Peter and John were preaching Jesus. They were preaching Jesus and faith in his name (John 20:31 Acts 3:16) and they were preaching the risen Christ (Acts 2:30 2:32 3:26). They were preaching his resurrection, and how that would ensure the resurrection of believers, and the coming Davidic kingdom on earth promised to the nation of Israel (Luke 12:32). There is, however, no mention here of the cross of Christ Jesus; no mention of Jesus's sacrificial death, no mention of Jesus being delivered for our offences and raised for our justification. The gospel of the circumcision (Galatians 2:7) was being preached, comprised of the gospel of the kingdom (Acts 2:40 3:19-21), John's baptism for remission of sins (Mark 1:4), and the receiving of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38).
Peter is preaching the gospel of the Circumcision and the assurance of the coming Kingdom through Christ's resurrection, that He would be raised to sit on David's throne (Acts 2:30). He is still preaching faith in the name of Jesus, that Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ (Acts 10:43 John 6:69). Israel had to believe on Jesus to have eternal life; it was then required that they confess him (Matthew 10:32), be baptized (Mark 16:16), and keep the commandments to enter the coming earthly Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 5:20 Matthew 5:18-19 Matthew 19:17 Revelation 14:12).
4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Naming Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God was required for Jews to have eternal life. Although verse 12 is to the Jews, it is also for us. We can also acknowledge that it is only by Jesus Christ that we have eternal life. It is through faith in Christ Jesus alone and his complete provision for our, forgiveness, justification, and righteousness unto eternal life.
