Be sure and thank your turkey this Thanksgiving for giving his life so you could have a drumstick, or a couple of slices of white meat. I'm sure if will gobble up the affection.
That's the message pushed by program after program of close to the earth families like the Kilchers of Discovery channel's ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER.
one of the Kilchers, Eiven, husband of Eve, was teaching their little ones to thank the turkey. Never a mention of God except in the odd oath by the men when things go awry. There are several other pagan programs after the same fashion, "Life below zero" featuring the Hailstone family. Agnes, the wife, is of the native people, and said on one program that one day she would go to the happy hunting Ground to be with her ancestors. Certainly she has heard and rejected the gospel message in her several years upon the earth. They also thank every animal they kill but never a word to God.
Sue Aikens is another God ignoring animal worshipper. Time after time she thanks caribou and a menagerie of animals killed for food.
Eustis Conway of Mountain men series also thanks the deer he kills and hogs he butchers. Never a word to God who gave it. The producers of these programs are pagans and heathens that are certain to edit out any rare mention of God.
As time goes by I grow less and less appreciative of the host of pagans populating these programs. It seems than not a one of them knows that God gave them the animals that they are thanking. I can't believe that these have no knowledge of God. I grow less and less a viewer because of their Godless attitudes. I have prayed for them but know based on their ages, that God has not ignored them and they have been shown opportunities to come to know him. God is gracious in presenting opportunities for all to accept or reject his message of salvation.
Being an outdoorsman all of my life and son of a farm raised father and mother I love all things outdoors. From sawmills to big game hunting to commercial fishing I love it. But God is part of all my endeavors for the past forty years and more.
So when you sit down to the Thanksgiving feast, be it large or modest, be sure to look up and thank the real source of the food. Our Father in heaven.
If you're feeling extra generous, throw that turkey a kiss or tip your cap. No need to thank it. I learned long-ago that Dead animals can't hear, no matter how loudly you say thank you very much in your best Elvis voice !
