US Supreme Court raises bar for obstruction charge against Trump, Jan. 6 rioters

June 28, 2024

WASHINGTON, June 28 (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court raised the legal bar on Friday for prosecutors pursuing obstruction charges in the federal election subversion case against Donald Trump and defendants involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

The justices ruled 6-3 to throw out a lower court's decision that had allowed a charge of corruptly obstructing an official proceeding - congressional certification of President Joe Biden's 2020 victory over Trump that the rioters tried to block - against defendant Joseph Fischer, a former police officer.

The court, in the decision authored by Chief Justice John Roberts, took a narrow view of the obstruction statute, saying that prosecutors must show that a defendant "impaired the availability or integrity" of documents or other records related to an official proceeding - or attempted to do so.

Which the defendants did not do.
Their shameful incarceration, prosecution is weaponization against republicans by democrats.
They came for them, searched through all the video to match faces.
Trump, needs to pardon them all.
An awful state of the current DOJ.
You know they vet these people and appoint and advance in careers those who think like them.

When you get a new government all that needs cleaning out, or those in opposition continue resisting through deliberate sabotage.

Deuteronomy 19:16-21 KJV
16) If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;
17) Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
18) And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
19) Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.
20) And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
21) And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

Much love!
