It's difficult for me to move...been here in California since 1967. But in the future, if I need to make a change...just wondering about your thoughts on more reasonable places to live.

My cousin, Dana, he is in the middle of Amish country in Ohio so that's probably not feasible. I do have groceries delivered but sometimes need to go to the doctors, especially opthalmologist.

My other cousin, she and her husband moved to Montgomery, Alabama a couple of years ago. They use Uber to get around.

Any thoughts?

Blessings in Christ Jesus Debp. And yes I did pray for you even though I do not like making this public. But I knew this was coming or at least I have thought on it and was going to ask you. I live north east of where you used to live. Right next to what is currently on the news. The Lord moved me out here from Delaware over 20 years ago. It is funny my story is much like Abram's story. Traveling to a land I have never been and obtaining an acre in one weekend. This is Trump country and the people are hard working and they help their neighbors. I write this to you to encourage and let you know there are truly good places in this country. I was brought here knowing there are places in the future you will not want to be at. And this was 26 years ago. I am exactly where The Lord wants me to be. If I were you I would ask The Lord in prayer where He wants you to be in this new season. Blessings!

Yes, PA is beautiful and I love the thunderstorms we always had there.

I don't have any family in PA anymore. There are a couple of cousins but they never kept in touch....(my dad's side of the family, he died in 1975).

I had a good childhood friend in Pittsburgh but she died six years ago. I always thought she would outlive me as she was always doing something.

Everything in Los Angeles is easy for me to get to when needed. But rents are high and our building gives a rent increase each year.

Move to the Midwest.
But not tornado alley :D

Some Ethiopian friends/neighbors had moved to Columbus, Ohio several years ago. The husband got laid off so he found a job in Kansas.

When the wife phoned me to tell me...I said "oh, tornado alley!" They had no idea. I told her I wished they would have talked with me first. (He was also offered a job in Missouri.)

Delp ~

Every State has it’s own beauty, culture, weather, governance and crap holes, to consider.

Sadly, They ALL have Large, poorly managed, filthy crime riddled cities… whereby those who are Upstanding, imprison themselves … lock, lock, locking everything 24-7 and gates, and bars they stay behind in fear.

Definitely weary times…and a challenge.

God Bless you.

Glory to God,
Taken

But i must wait till either i die or the LORD do come for that destination .

I have some cousins that just moved to South Carolina, a church on every corner, and living costs a fraction of California.

Most people I know that left CA when to Arizona.

Much love!

Check out Lufkin Texas

Population is about 40k, real estate is very reasonably priced and they have all kinds of medical care, low crime along with friendly folks and lots of different types of churches. I'm thinking of moving there myself and have been checking it out.

If you sell your home for market rate in California you should have enough funds to buy a n ice place in Lufkin and have a lot of funds left over to put back in savings.

She rents. There's only two posts to read, if you're interested.

We moved for economic reasons, not really political. Not sure what your need for moving is.

If not for the economic reasons, I would say, simply move away from whatever is hectic. Perhaps to the country, but within a reasonable distance to necessities. Live simple.

And wherever you are, vote.

This touches on so much, so many considerations..

A friend once told me, reflecting back over his life and the places he had lived, and his marriage, "You can fall in love anywhere." Which, I suppose would be the same for many things: finding work (maybe), making friends, etc.

Certainly, one can either make the best of things or the worst, see the glass half full or half empty. And weather, or hazards, the good and the bad. What about bugs, snakes, tornados, earthquakes, or allergies? Even what makes a person feel at home, or where you were meant to be, where you are most likely to thrive, get up everyday with a smile on your face. It all plays a part.

Even so, "A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." Proverbs 16:9

When we had family alive in Phoenix, we never moved there because of the extreme desert heat in the Summer. Now I only have a young second cousin in Phoenix and never hear from her.

Also in Phoenix one needs to drive...a car is too expensive for me.

If I move, it would be for economic reasons... high rent. Need to see how it goes now.

Everything is easy for me to get to in Los Angeles. Post office and opthalmologist one block away, pharmacy is one and a half blocks away, dentist is a three minute walk away, one bank is two blocks away. Regular doctor is a short taxi ride and the city gives seniors $84 taxi fare each quarter.

My area, although a business district, is nice and clean. Two blocks from a nice, clean subway station which I used to use all of the time.

Also, I have several wonderful neighbors who are very kind and helpful to me. If I need an item or two, they pick it up for me. A teen guy used to drive me to get groceries and wouldn't take any money. But now I mainly get groceries delivered. The neighbors that help me are all from Mexico and Guatemala, very nice people.

This area keeps demolishing older buildings and they build luxury apartment buildings. So if this building is sold and we are forced out, have to leave the State for sure. Affordable housing lists are very long I understand.

You are reading a message from someone who had an email from the Government this morning, notifying me that my passport application has been approved and they will let me know when it’s been dispatched. So if the lambs gather, I’ll be there. Praise the Lord. I am in agreement with @amigo de christo that my choice would be the celestial Heavenly Kingdom.

So are you and the others planning to visit @amigo de christo in Texas? Or meeting elsewhere? Glad you are getting out.

Of course, to be with the Lord is much better. But it doesn't hurt to get some ideas or opinions on other States.

The rent for apartments in Los Angeles is astronomical. Even in my neighborhood for a one bedroom it's $2500, $2700 per month. I've heard of singles or studios (one room apartment) costing that much. In downtown, one bedroom apartments are even $7000 a month.
