great topic. I’m surprised you haven’t had any responses yet. We might not agree and have different perspectives, but I do think it’s a worthy topic to be discussed.

Hebrews 11:24-27 says a lot, Imo.
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; [25] Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; [26] Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. [27] By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

^all of the above (Imo) says a lot, but I highlighted especially what connects it to your title “Meeting Jesus outside the camp”.
I can’t remember if I have ever looked up Hebrews 11:24-27 in the lexicon, or at least some other version. I’m going to do this, because I don’t personally favor “as seeing him who is invisible” to me it makes more sense “Him who is unseen” then “Him who is invisible”.

Especially since “invisible” makes Him like some apparition from a ghost movie.

“him who is unseen” speaks of His rejection and as one undesirable to men. Huge difference between an apparition and “unseen” and also “unheard”
Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Out of the mud and into the glory!
Not in the camp(s) of men but into the Spirit of God!
2co 3:6Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Empty ourselves:

Lu 14:10But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
Lu 14:11For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Ps 132:4I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
Ps 132:5Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
Ps 132:13For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
Ps 132:14This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
