I been talked to by a FBI agent for talking to a supposed "terrorist" and he never talked to me every about wanting to do war crimes. We have a head full of accurate information; is that going to save us? .....and is salvation predicated on this? Reminds me of this kind of watching in the end times of this world.
Watch as in be aware lest that Day of His returning come upon you unawares and you have been deceived by this world.
We won't know that DAY or HOUR to any exactness, but we can see the sign posts.
Meanwhile, we are to keep on doing the Master's business which He commanded us all to do.

Do you mean be aware of the political agenda? I think there are many who are aware of the political agenda but is it this what Jesus is referring to when he say's 'watch'?
When it comes to deception, what did you have in mind? Did you mean a mistaken political agenda?

Of course, human politician's political agendas are mostly of the world, cannot say 100% on it as I do think God moved in a nations people to do His will through history, which they may or may not have comprehension of.

Jesus is saying be aware of the times, keep on believing, be about the business of the kingdom of God such as what he said to do.
Don't over complicate as the things of the world and the things of God are not in agreement with each other.

Having the wrong ideas about something will not damn a person to hell necessarily.
Jesus asked his disciples, whom do men say that I am?

Your answer may save or condemn you.
People are not spiritually neutral, just like they are not politically neutral, people have views about everything.

Matthew 12

Is it not a mistaken political agenda that creates the image of the beast, and enforces its mark? I would think that's worth watching. Then there's the beast itself as it emerges from hibernation and begins to mark its territory, the extent of which is only recently becoming apparent, except of course to those who have been watching . Of course, the question isn't, how do we combat such a scheme, doing that is not our purview. It's how do we get through in one piece. Well, scripture is clear that some may not. Some may lose their heads.

That word "watch", doesn't in every instance mean watching for something coming from without in the appearance of a threat. We need to prepare ourselves for a crisis that will challenge our faithfulness, and our resolve to stay true to God's moral compass, and watch and pray for strength and wisdom to discern the numerous counterfeits and false Christs and false prophets and satanic signs and wonders that would play mind games with our feelings and senses. We need to watch ourselves.

Jerusalem fell in 70AD, so you can say this has come to pass.

Jesus though has not yet returned to save us in the last days and destroy the world.
As 1 Peter 1 describes here and the same is in Hebrews 9:28

Jesus says out redemption draws near as we see the DAY of the Lord approaching on this world.
There is a LAST DAY. Many things happen on the LAST DAY, Jesus spoke of them.

The Destruction of Jerusalem​

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. The Coming of the Son of Man​

The Parable of the Fig Tree​

When Jesus says this generation He means the generation of the last days, not the current one of His time.
That generation of the last day will not pass away till ALL THINGS spoken of by the prophets and found in the word take place and they are all done by that LAST DAY when all God's words come to pass. (completed)

And we know that the LAST DAY is Christ's return, the Resurrection of all the saints, then the final judgement.
In scripture this is called the Day of the Lord.
