Problems with price controls as a way to control inflation​

1. Price controls do nothing to tackle the underlying reason for inflation. For example, if inflation is caused by excess demand, the demand will still be there, but the price controls will only make goods more attractive. If inflation is caused by a shortage of goods and cost-push factors, the shortage is not resolved by keeping price limits lower.
2. Lack of incentive. Price controls can reduce the incentive for firms to increase supply. For example, if prices are rising due to supply bottlenecks. The rise in prices will create an incentive for firms to increase supply. However, if the government pursue price controls, then this incentive to increase supply is reduced. Therefore, far from solving the problem, price controls can make the shortage last for longer.
3. Shortage. The price controls of the 1970s led to queues and shortages of meat and gasoline.
4. Wasteful activity. Price controls can lead to wasteful economic activity as people wait in line to get the limited goods. This increases the cost of the good. If you earn $15 an hour but spend 30 minutes in a queue, the gasoline is an extra $7.50
5. Bureaucracy and interference. With price controls, there is wasteful spending on government bureaucracy. The WWII price administration office gained 15,000 employees and firms complained that the agency was not just setting prices but increasingly being descriptive of which goods they could sell.
6. Black market – another problem of price controls is that it is likely to cause growth in the underground economy. When demand is artificially reduced, there will be a temptation for people to buy at an artificially low price and sell at a higher price on the black market to those who cannot queue.
7. Lower output. With price controls, firms will have less incentive to produce goods, leading to lower employment. A study by Paul Evans found that WWII price controls were successful in keeping prices 30% lower than otherwise, but with a 12% reduction in employment and 7% lower output. Evaluation of price controls to deal with inflation​

• Price controls are more effective if combined with rationing, but rationing itself has costs and difficulties.
• Price controls targeting to very specific cases of price gouging can be more effective.

Why are groceries so expensive?​

When I was growing up, about 70 - 80 percent of the people in the USA called themselves Christians. That doesn't mean they all listened like they should. We surely don't. But did not Moses command:

So do we "Hear?" what the Lord has to say to us. Are we careful to listen to Him? Did we bring our sons and daughters to hear the Lord?

When we go in and out, do we seek Wisdom (The Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ) for the words of wisdom that He has for us?

The last I saw only between 35 and 40 percent of the people in the US today call themselves Christians, and some don't listen to Him, as can be seen on this forum! And as can be seen in this country.

God gave us freewill, and the freewill to seek Him and listen to Him. And if any one person will seek Him, then He Himself will be our Lord and leader, and He Himself will fulfill the promise God made through Samuel. Yet if we as a people did not listen and bring our son's and daughters up to listen to the Lord, so as to keep His commands, then will they vote for Wisdom, and will they be covered in the promise?

So have we not acted wrongfully, and gotten the democrats because of today, which are really communist and Marxists - lacking Wisdom (The Holy Spirit) in their lives?

So yeah, we see there is a problem. And we Christians should clearly be able to realize that control over free will by our government leads to destruction. And that is what price control is about. We can even see that it hurts the poor, and has always caused issues through-out history. But we should also see that if we are not willing to submit to the KING OF KINGS by listening to Him and serving Him, then He can and will turn us over to an evil ruler.

So we need to submit to Wisdom, by seeking the voice of our Lord God, Jesus Christ, and He will send us His Holy Spirit with His words of Wisdom. And we need to pray for our leaders, that He will decide to make His voice known to them, and reprove them, and bring them to repentance, so they also serve Him. And we need to start teaching "Hear, O Israel" to our children so they to might seek Wisdom, and what comes from His mouth!

From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Having men fight women in the Olympics is not from Wisdom, and we know it. But to change all that silliness seem too often be unknown. It is achieved by actually seeking the voice of our Lord which comes through Wisdom which is just another name for His Holy Spirit!
