No one should be surprised.
True. Islam is not ecumenical.
In Islamic countries the Qur'an prescribes death to apostates. Those who leave the faith for another.
They Qur'an says they should be encouraged to return to the faith. If they don't,they're to be killed.
This is why we should be suspicious of the news of mosques in the ME closing due to large numbers of Muslims turning apostate.
Because, they're still in those countries and they should be killed, per the Qur'an .
So,the follow up news would entail reports of hundreds of killings of apostate Muslims.
Tolerance is not Islams strong suit.
"O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitanah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends) those outside your religion (pagans,
Jews,
Christians, and hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you.”
Qur'an 3:118
