1 John 3:1-3 KJV
1) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3) And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Every man that has WHAT hope?

The hope - that is, what we expect to happen because of what we believe - for instance, we believe Jesus when He promised us resurrection, so we have the hope of the resurrection. We believe Him, He promised resurrection, so we expect to be raised from the dead.

In this case, this hope, this is knowing that when He appears, when we see Him, that we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.

We who are the children of God can KNOW as a certainty that we WILL see Him, and seeing Him, we WILL become like Him.

And it's knowing this fact,

Every man who has this hope purifies Himself.

An ongoing objection to doctrines remeniscent of "OSAS" is that if you believe you are safe in God's salvation, that it can never go away, then you won't care about sin.

But the reality is . . . having this hope is what causes you to purify yourself!

The truth is exactly opposite to what so many think. They think that unless you are motivated by the fear of condemnation, you'll be a slacker.

But the reality, it's not me, it's Jesus in me, that's what makes the difference. Knowing that I can't be lost from God, that's what empowers me to live right.

Exactly opposite! But then, isn't God that way? Not at all what so many seem to think!

How He loves us!!

Much love!

I know that my soul is held by Jesus, that he gave me faith and it is he who maintains my faith.
Just as I did nothing inorder to be saved, so I can do nothing to maintain my salvation. It is all of God.
This does not mean that I am not aware of the cost of sin or of temptation or of the command to be Holy as the Lord My God is Holy.

My salvation is secure in Jesus, I have to show him that I love him by the way I obey his commands.
Like all Christians life is an ongoing struggle to not sin.

Only fools think they can live a life without sinning and they are ignorant of 1john1:9+10.
