Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem (this is the physical Jerusalem) unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And AFTER threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off (die at the cross/New Covenant begins), but not for himself (for mankind): and the people (the Elect/child of God) of the prince (Christ) that shall come shall destroy the city (earthly Jerusalem) and the sanctuary (earthly temple); and the end thereof shall be with a flood (judgment that converts one of the Elect), and unto the end of the war desolations are determined (the apostasy/falling away of a babe/unconverted carnal Elect believer by the spirit of anti-Christ). 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease (Old Covenant ends and New Covenant begins), and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation (time of conversion), and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
If you understand the destruction of Jerusalem in a physical way, then the people of the Prince would be the Jews. But the Jews did not destroy Jerusalem or the temple - the Roman army did. Under the New Covenant, the Elect (as a Bride) destroys Jerusalem. This is described in Rev 19:11-20.
Here is more on how to understand Daniel's prophecy along with the end-time prophecies of the New Covenant:
The first 69 1/2 weeks of Daniel's prophecy were fulfilled in an outward and physical way under the Old Covenant. That is why the first 69 1/2 weeks were physically and literally fulfilled. This leaves 3 1/2 years of the prophecy and they are now being fulfilled spiritually under the New Covenant. They are not being fulfilled physically and literally as the first 69 1/2 weeks were.
Christ "confirmed the covenant" (the one Christ made with Abraham) when He was baptized by John the Baptist at the beginning of the 70th week. This left seven years for Christ to fulfill the goals of the prophecy which are outlined in Dan 9:24. In the midst of the final week, Christ was cutoff at the cross. This ended the Old Covenant and began the New Covenant. Daniel's prophecy must be rightly divided by this transition from the Old Covenant (physical) to the New Covenant (spiritual).
The verse below from Luke also applies to the spiritual destruction of earthly Jerusalem which occurs after Christ was cutoff. It is a spiritual event which occurs under the New Covenant.
Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Christ's words are "spirit" and He uses them in His spiritual teachings of the New Covenant.
In the New Covenant teachings, Jerusalem is a spirit word (John 6:63) which carries a different meaning than what man's wisdom teaches (1Cor 2:13).
The word "Jerusalem" which is used in Dan 9:26 and in Luke 21:20 is a spirit word because it is being used in Christ's end-time teachings of the New Covenant.
The end-time prophecies are describing the spiritual events (signs of the times) which happen within each Elect believer as they progress toward their conversion (the end). These spiritual events are reoccurring events and have been happening throughout this age within all the Elect.
When an Elect person is converted, the "ends of the ages" have come upon them.
1Cor 10:11 Now all these things happened to them as types, and have been written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.
The Jerusalem that Christ is mentioning in Dan 9:26 and in Luke 21:20 is the earthly Jerusalem that is below. This is in contrast to the New Jerusalem which is above.
Earthly Jerusalem is synonymous with the spirit words "Wicked heart, Damascus, Sodom, Egypt, woman and Mystery Babylon the Great Harlot". These spirit words represent mankind's marred and carnal spirit which causes the natural man to prefer the Old Wine over the New Wine.
Luke 5:39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
The Old Wine represents the Old Covenant which is based upon a person's attempt to make themselves acceptable to God by their own works. Scripture calls this the crooked way. Mankind calls it religion. Satan's "another gospel" teaches the crooked way to apostate believers by mixing the Old Wine with the New Wine. For this reason, Satan is called the crooked serpent. When Satan deceives a "babe" with his false gospel, he spiritually kills the believer and adds another person to his apostate church. To accomplish this building of his false church, Satan (as a serpent) bites the woman (the Great Harlot/earthly Jerusalam). In other words, Satan attacks a believer through their carnal nature by feeding her his carnally pleasing lies of the Old Wine. This is how Satan eats the dust of the ground (a symbol for carnal mankind/includes babes who are carnal).
This verse applies:
Prov 23:27 For a whore (Great Harlot/earthly Jerusalem) is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. 28 She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men. 29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? 30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. 31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. 32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder (the spiritual killing of the saints). 33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things (false doctrines of the apostate church).
The New Wine (New Covenant) teaches the straight way of Christ which is to approach God strictly by faith. This faith is more than just believing that Jesus is the Christ (Christ and Him crucified). It is a faith that trusts Christ to provide all the works (both physical and spiritual) which are necessary for making oneself acceptable to God. The spiritual work that Christ does to accomplish a person's salvation/conversion is taught throughout scripture and more specifically in the end-time prophecies and in the parables that begin with phrase "the Kingdom of Heaven is like".
When the earthly Jerusalem is surrounded by armies, its destruction is about to occur within the believer. This destruction of Jerusalem is described in Rev 18 as the destruction of the Great Harlot. After this judgment is complete, the believer will be converted.
The spiritual teachings of the New Covenant primarily teach the spiritual events that happen within the Elect as they travel the pathway to salvation. They do not teach outward, physical events that only happen one-time at the literal end of this age.

Comments:
Verse 24 provides the 6 elements the Messiah will complete / fulfill within the 3.5 years of His ministry.
Verse 25 is the second “restorative” verse found within these 4 most important prophecies (9:24-27). It gives us the timing of the arrival of the Messiah – coming 483 years after 457 BC, or AFTER the completion of the first 69 weeks of the prophecy. This is the beginning of the 70th week which was “set aside” by God for His Messiah to fulfill His mission.
Verse 26 is the first “destructive” verse within these four. It tells us that AFTER the 69th week (sometime in the last week) of the prophecy, the Messiah will be crucified. Also, it reveals the coming destruction of the city and the Sanctuary by the “people” (pagan Roman Empire) in 70 AD, who are / will also become the “people of the prince who is to come.” This “prince who is to come” represents the “little horn” who will come to sit atop the 4th beast kingdom AFTER pagan Rome is slain (7:11). It also reveals that “desolations are determined” until the end of the war.” This “war” is not the conflict at 70 AD. The “true war” has indeed begun but it is the spiritual war for our souls. It began at the cross and will continue until His return. It is the war between God and those that have declared war against Him and His gospel – the “little horn” who preaches a very different gospel. It is a war for our eternal salvation. The “battle / conflict / destruction” by Titus in 70 AD was over… it was not a protracted war. It was over and done with… the true war has been going on for 2000 years.
Verse 27 is the second and last of the “destructive” verses. It reveals the Messiah will confirm the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34), and “in the midst of the week” (in the exact middle of the last week of the prophecy, or 3.5 years), the Messiah will bring an end to the sacrifices and offerings. This of course, is His sacrifice on the cross when He will “do away” with any further need for animal sacrifices and offerings within the Levitical ceremonies. Also, this verse confirms that because the Jews had rejected and crucified their Messiah (Abomination that causes desolation), He will make desolate His people from Him. He will separate Himself from them. They will not be in fellowship with their God until the “Times of the Gentiles” is completed. This is their punishment that will last some 2000 years.
Comment on 3.5 years remaining of the prophecy.
God’s plan of restoration for His people and His city after the Babylonian exile is found in these four verses. It is given to us in two sets of verses and it identifies what must be restored, who is responsible to restore them and the timing of those restorations. And the most important part of this “plan of restoration” is that God will incorporate with this prophecy the coming of the Messiah – He will include His “plan of salvation” within this “plan of restoration.”
Consequently, we have two sets of prophecies
Two restorative prophecies that provide what is to be restored, who is to restore them and the timing of their restoration.
The Jews are give 69 weeks to restore all the physical elements of the restoration process including the reinstatement of the Sabbath, the sacrificial ceremonies and the 7 feast days. Each of these elements will be fulfilled / restored in the exact reverse order they were either taken away or destroyed by the Babylonians.
However, there is only one element the Jews cannot restore – it would be the very first element taken away. Before the Babylonians came to Jerusalem, Jeremiah would remove the Ark of the Covenant and hide it from them. This would be the last time it would ever be seen again. But since this is the most important part of the Sanctuary – the presence of God in the Holy of Holies, it must also be restored. And God will restore this piece of furniture in the last week of the prophecy by the arrival of the Messiah. Not only was He symbolically the last element to be restored, but He would complete them in the last week of the prophecy and He was the only One who could restore this element.
Verses 26 and 27 reflect the opposite events of those found in verses 24 and 25. They show the destruction of those exact physical elements, the city and the Sanctuary, etc., as well as the destruction of the Messiah. The consequences would be the total destruction of all physical elements and the Jews who would be made completely “desolate” from their God for the next 2000 years.
This means that the Jews and Jesus fulfilled / completed every part of their God given responsibilities within His plan of restoration in the exact timing He prophesized. Nothing that was suppose to be restored was not restored and nothing that was supposed to be destroyed was not destroyed.
However, there is ONLY one remaining item to consider – the last 3.5 years of the prophecy. Even though Jesus fulfilled His 6 requirements (9:24) and He “set up” His church on the earth, does the last 3.5 years mean anything to us? Yes!
The 70 weeks of years prophecy began in 457 BC. The 4th and final Great Jubilee Cycle began in 457 BC. Thus, both would be fulfilled / completed at the exact same time – 33/34 AD. Both were 490 literal years in duration but the 4th Great Jubilee cycle would come to a screeching halt at the time of the cross. The “counting” of the GJ would stop as the Jews were no longer in “fellowship” with their God. Their rejection and crucifixion caused the clock to stop at exactly 486.5 years. Thus, there is exactly 3.5 years that MUST be continued BEFORE the Messiah can return. And they will be completed, but they can ONLY be completed by His people. Consequently, at the end of the time of the Gentiles, God will restore the blindness from the eyes of His people (He will give them their “Damascus” experience just as He did with Paul). They will recognize the One they had pierced and go out into the world preaching the Word of God and His (Jesus) testimony for 3.5 years and then bring in the Messiah’s return.
So, I definitely agree with you in that there is a physical and a spiritual component to the prophecy but we see it a little differently. I have not studied Revelation but I do believe the 3.5 years in Revelation speaks to this end time event.

As for the rest of you comments, I can't agree with very much. I will say that your understanding is a little better than what I usually encounter.
Rather than try to respond to all your points, I will present my complete understanding of Daniel's Seventy Weeks prophecy which I wrote a few years ago.
Daniel's prophecy applies to Christ and His work of saving Daniel's people (the OT faithful) and the Holy City (New Jerusalem/the Elect). As for the "prince that shall come", the prince is Christ. The common teachings about a man who will be the "anti-Christ", they are completely false. The teachings on the "man of sin" are teachings about the apostasy of the church which occurred shortly after Paul's death. The apostasy occurs (and the A of D) when the spirit of anti-Christ indwells a "babe in Christ" and causes them to fall away. It is these fallen away believers who are the "man of sin" described by Paul. The anti-Christ/man of sin is not just one man - it is any apostate believer.
Below is my understanding of the prophecy. This may take 2 or 3 posts.
Daniel’s Seventy Weeks prophecy is Christ’s timeline to build a “great and mighty nation” (the Kingdom of Heaven) which He will use in the final age to bless all the nations of the earth and save all mankind.
Gen 18:17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
Acts 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Seventy weeks of years (490 years) were given to “your people and your holy city” for them to:
- Finish their rebellion (transgression of the Law).
- Put an end to their sin.
- Atone for their guilt.
- Bring in age-during righteousness.
- Confirm the prophetic vision given to Daniel.
- Anoint the Most Holy Place (anoint Christ as King).
In the book of Genesis, Christ made a covenant with Abraham:
Gen 15:5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, 6 So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Gen 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates…
Gen 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an age-during covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
What exactly is this covenant?
The covenant was God’s promise to Abraham to multiply his offspring to be as numerous as the stars of heaven and to give to them as an inheritance the Promised Land (the Kingdom of Heaven/salvation).
The inheritance to be given to Abraham and his seed was based on a promise made by God and is not contingent on the works of man (the Law).
Rom 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
For that reason, Christ came to establish the New Covenant of Grace through Faith which will provide the pathway to fulfill the promise made to Abraham. This New Covenant is 100% the work of Christ and it does not rely on the works of man for it to be fulfilled.
Who is the “seed” of Abraham?
Rom 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
In God’s eyes, the seed of Abraham is NOT his physical descendants. Abraham’s seed is a spiritual lineage and is based on the circumcision of the heart. This circumcision of the heart is referring to the spiritual change which occurs within a believer at their moment of conversion. This change occurs when a person receives the Latter Rain of the Spirit. This work of Christ is the sole determining factor as to whether a person is a seed of Abraham and has a right to the inheritance of the Promised Land.
If the seed of Abraham is spiritual, then isn’t the Promised Land likewise spiritual?
Yes! The Promised Land is spiritual and is represented by the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is our inheritance and our salvation. It is the more abundant life that Christ said He came to bring us:
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
How many people are going to receive this inheritance?
The inheritance promised to Abraham is for the Old Testament Faithful and the Elect.
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
But as the Word of God proclaims, salvation will come to all mankind someday (all the nations will be blessed). However, they will not be heirs but they will still be saved:
1Cor 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward (heir/First Fruit). 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Order of Salvation
Scripture teaches that there is an order to mankind’s salvation: it will come in TWO groups of people and in TWO ages of time.
The first group of mankind to be saved are those who receive the inheritance promised to Abraham. They are the people who have been chosen from the foundation of the world. These chosen “few” will be saved in this present age. They will be the “many brethren” of Christ:
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
This first group is also called the First Fruits of Christ’s harvest of mankind.
James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
Rev 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
The second group to receive their inheritance is the remaining balance of mankind. They will be resurrected at the start of the final age and will be saved its completion. At the end of the final age, the promise to Abraham will be fulfilled which says that all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him (Gen 18:7). It will then be testified to be true that all who died “in Adam” is the same all who have been made alive “in Christ”:
1Cor 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

THE 70TH WEEK
At the start of the 70th week (483 years), Christ started His ministry on earth to fulfill the covenant He made with Abraham:
Matt 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, 15 Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
Gal 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. 18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
At this time, the final 7 year week of Daniel’s Seventy weeks of years commenced. When this last week of years is completed for the heirs, all the goals of Dan 9:24 will be fulfilled.
To complete this mission, Christ willingly went to the cross at the 3 ½ year mark and was cut off.
This event at the cross stopped the literal countdown of the last 7 years remaining of Daniel’s prophecy. The remaining 3 ½ years will be fulfilled spiritually under the New Covenant of Grace through Faith.
At the cross, Christ’s sacrifice provided the Pathway to Salvation for mankind. As a result of Christ’s death and resurrection, the Old Covenant of Law was fulfilled and the New Covenant of Grace through Faith began. This change is shown to us by verse 27:
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Christ’s death on the cross caused the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. No longer can mankind approach God through the Old Covenant of Law (man’s works). Now the only approach to God is under the New Covenant of Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ who will perform all the necessary works for mankind’s salvation.
The New Covenant is also a spiritual covenant. In other words, all the works which Christ will perform are done within mankind. To be saved, we all must be spiritually converted from being a child of the Devil to being a child of God.
With this change from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant, God will longer dwell in a physical temple. His new temple will be made without hands. This new temple is mankind.
Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
1Cor 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
THE REMAINING 3 ½ YEARS
The last 3 ½ years of Daniel’s prophecy is also presented in scripture as Time, Times and half a time, 1260 days, and 42 months. These terms are spiritual symbols and do not represent literal time.
At the beginning of the final age, the remaining 3 ½ years of Daniel’s prophecy will be fulfilled for both the OT Faithful and the Elect. Christ will accomplish this goal by causing them to fully travel the Pathway to Salvation which He established and taught in the vision presented to Daniel and in His other teachings in scripture.
At the core of this pathway is the Early and Latter Rains.
THE EARLY AND LATTER RAIN
The remaining 3 ½ years starts WITHIN a person when they receive the Early Rain of the Spirit from Christ. The 3 1/2 years ends when the believer receives the Latter Rain of the Spirit.
For additional details on the Early and Latter Rain, please read the paper entitled “A. The Great Mystery of the Church”.
James also presents the Early and Latter Rain below:
Jam 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the EARLY and LATTER rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
James says a lot in these two verses and its meaning is hidden in spiritual language.
Christ is the Husbandman (farmer). The Precious Fruit of the Earth is the child of God who will be harvested from the Earth. The Earth represents the carnal & sinful world (mankind). The farmer “hath long patience for it” because birthing many new children of God is a long process which is just getting started in this age with the harvest of the First-Fruits.
At the end of verse 7, James says that the growing season for Christ’s harvest of mankind starts with the Early Rain. It is at this point in time that an unbeliever becomes a called out Christian. The Early Rain represents the receiving of a measured amount of the Holy Spirit. However, the Early Rain of the Spirit is not sufficient for them to grow to maturity and produce fruit. It leaves the new believer carnally minded and spiritually blind.
Because of these spiritual deficiencies, the called out believer needs Christ to return with Latter Rain of the Spirit. The Latter Rain is also known as the Baptism of the Spirit. However, this rain will not fall on the believer until the established time for their individual 3 ½ years period comes to an end.
Later in James, he mentions the drought that occurs between the Early and Latter Rains:
James 5:17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
During this time of Elijah’s 3 ½ years of drought, a called out believer will attempt to combine their own works with Grace through Faith (can't serve two masters, Mat 6:24). As a result, they will fall away. Falling away happens when a believer turns to religion (own works) for salvation.
Religion is Satan’s prescribed way of approaching God. And since Satan masquerades as Christ, he will tempt the believer to approach God through religion. He does this by sending the spirit of anti-Christ to the believer. When Satan’s temptations are coupled with man’s carnal nature (which prefers works over faith), the believer easily and quickly falls away.

When Satan’s deceptions run their full course within the believer, a worsened carnal state is developed.
Christ said it this way:

The "SEVEN other spirits" is a spiritual term that represents the spirit of anti-Christ which will cause a worsened carnal state to develop within the believer. With this worsened carnal state, the believer is now given a new name called the Man of Sin, the son of perdition:
2Thes 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the Day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that MAN OF SIN be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Once this worsened carnal state occurs within a believer, it will cause the “overspreading of abominations” (Dan 9:27) which makes the Lord’s temple (themselves) desolate.
In this age, if a believer has been chosen as one of Christ’s First Fruits, Christ will come to them a second time before they physically die. When Christ comes, He will bring the Latter Rain of the Spirit to them. With this outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the believer will be born again and converted. The 3 ½ years remaining of Daniel’s prophecy will be fulfilled for them and they will receive their inheritance.
If the believer has not been chosen, they will physically die in their worsened carnal state, leaving their 3 ½ years unfulfilled. Later, when the bodily resurrection occurs, they will enter into the final age still in their worsened carnal state. It is at this point that the Day of the Lord arrives for them. Their judgment will continue until they have paid the last penny. After their judgment is complete, Christ will pour out the Latter Rain of the Spirit upon them. At that time, the 3 ½ years will be fulfilled within them and they will receive their promised inheritance.

SUMMARY
Seventy weeks of years (490 years) were ordained for Christ to accomplish the goals listed in Dan 9:24 for the OT Faithful and the Elect. They will be the heirs of the promises made to Abraham. After 483 literal years had passed, Christ started His ministry on earth when He was baptized by John the Baptist. At the midpoint of the last week of years, Christ was crucified and was cut off. This marked the change from the Old Covenant of Law to the New Covenant of Grace through Faith. This change caused the sacrifice and oblation to cease. This change also ended the physical time calculation of the 70 weeks of years. That calculation ended with 3 ½ years remaining. Since the New Covenant is spiritual, the remaining 3 ½ years likewise became spiritual and are no longer physical years.
The 3 ½ years remaining of Daniel’s prophecy will start within a person when they receive the Early Rain of the Spirit and are called out from the world.
Shortly after receiving the Early Rain, the believer will be deceived by Satan and will fall away. The believer will commit the sin that leads to death and the Abomination of Desolation will occur. The believer will then fall under Satan’s complete influence by the spirit of anti-Christ and will become a Man of Sin.
If the believer has been chosen from the foundation of the world to be an heir of the promise, the Second Coming of Christ will come to the believer in this age after their spiritual condition has been made worse than the first (Man of Sin).
Dan 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
At the end of the “3 ½ years”, after the “power of the holy people” has been scattered, the Latter Rain of the Spirit will be poured out on the believer and cause the birth of a new child of God. After this salvation event, the Day of the Lord will arrive and bring judgment to the Man of Sin/Old Man. Once the conversion process has been completed, the believer will have their promised inheritance.
Dan 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
The “time of the end” is speaking of the conversion event. It is at this time that the believer is given eyes that can see so that Daniel’s prophecies will be “unsealed” for them.
After the last heir has been converted, Abraham’s spiritual “seed” will be as numerous as the stars and they will all have their promised inheritance of the Promised Land.
Finally, in the final age, Christ will use His “great and mighty army” of heirs to bring salvation to the rest of mankind. In the end, this verse will be proven true:
Gen 18:17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.
