Back when i was growing up, i was with plenty of blacks from 9yo on and this was how it was for real back in the 1970's, 80's i would be with the blacks and some white people did say that they were black, i heard them say it to the blacks and directly the blacks said, if you is black, i am white ! period !
Now as to full blood Aboriginals, they would say to the half cast, you is a half cast ! Period ! then the half cast would say they is black and yes that's fine ! but then they would go on about who is the blackist ! all fine joking etc.
