This is my encouragement to everyone. Come to the Living Christ Who Father positioned at His side in heaven. Or at least, consult the Spirit Who He has sent to us on earth. Please, please don't ignore Him Who lives in you. Hear His voice. Heed His voice and experience the joy this relationship brings.
Wow! Fantastic post, thank you.
Reminded me of this.

1 Corinthians 2:13 NIV
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit,
explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.[a]

Both the Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Scriptures were carefully preserved through time to the present day.

What we read in our Bibles did not come from the air, but from manuscripts and writings preserved for a long time, and copied with great care to be preserved without being corrupted. It is true that along the way some letters were lost, some small details were changed... but they did not change the message of the Bible at all.

All those who study Textual Criticism (which as you say is different from what is called High Criticism) agree that the errors or changes produced by copying over time are of minor importance. Furthermore, by comparison of manuscripts and other methods it is not difficult to determine which writing is most likely the one originally written.
I hear what you are saying brother. We are to glorify God and Christ, not any servant of His. Like as angels refuse to be worshiped, Paul would be the first to insist we should make much of Jesus, not of Paul. What does anyone have that we didnt' receive? (from the Lord) We have nothing of ourselves....that no one may boast or be boasted in.

The scriptures were definitely of benefit to me but now they are no longer essential for me. I have a direct relationship with a living Person that has advanced me beyond what God had previously revealed 2000 - 4000 years ago.
I dont disagree with a lot of what you are saying in your post. But this above is quite a claim. Especially when scripture itself says to not go beyond what is written.

We need the Lord and His word, both. Please dont' anyone go around teaching that the scriptures are somehow inferior to experience, when we need to test our experience against His word. That means experience is subject to His word. And God says He magnifies His word above all His name.

Has God given you a thorn.....? ....since even Paul needed a thorn to keep him from going awry when he saw and heard things too wonderful for him.

Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh.........because God's word is all about Him and testifies of Him, Christ. So...pretty important then, and that is an understatement of course.

Thanks for joining the discussion.
One doesn't have to be a mystic to hear the voice of God.

What do you suppose Jesus meant by this?

John 10:16, 27 NIV
16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also.
They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. ...
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
I think "not of this sheep pen" refers to the potential Christians who were not Jews.

Maybe I'm not familiar with what God said about not going beyond what is written. Or what He said to you. But I'm more than happy to hear what God spoke directly to you.

Please tell me more about this thorn He has given me. I'm all ears. I would genuinely like to know this word or revelation He has given to you for me.

Paul told of his experiences and revelations, but again, can you tell me more about mine please.

The purpose of this topical thread is to discuss where the Bible came from.
I keep encountering forum members that seem to have no clue, or at least some misconceptions
about the origins, history, issues and substance of the scriptures.

I invite others to share their knowledge on the subject. The link below is the best thing I have read on the subject.
I plan to post a few quotes from it. Please offer your own. Thanks.

I haven’t a clue when the Bible was first written or where it came from, I’ve never felt the need to research that far, I understand quite a bit of the written word, thanks to the Spirit bringing it to my understanding ,imo....apparently it was written by men under the influence of the Spirit.....

Good point...I will give that link a good read, thanks for sharing.

To be honest I go with what the Spirit testified to my spirit, when I first became Born Again....I think you had the same encounter when the Spirit spoke / testified to your spirit.we had the seed of faith planted into our hearts, ...which has been growing in Christ since our regeneration...

It's called the Bible, Gen - Rev. The Book you're attacking again.
Which of these translation methods was used to produce your favorite Bible translation?
1) The Majority Text ?
2) The Critical Text ?
3) The Textus Receptus ?

Perhaps you have no idea what these terms even mean? (see the link)

I doubt you know what you're talking about. Another one of your attacks on the Bible?

Which bible translation? Is it one of the copywrite for profit bibles, in which words and phrases are purposely changed to make a "new work" to enable a copywrite. Do you know the Critical texts are actually corrupt? The latest Greek update in critical text is version 28. Yep, it has changed 28 times. Is there any bible translation that hasn't been updated? Those are the Critical text bibles that keep updating.

This is what St. Steven is talking about.

No. A wake-up call for ignorant Christians.

You worship the Bible as if it is God.
Yet you have no idea where it came from.

Did you know that the original autographs (manuscripts) are gone?

Here's the oldest known copy fragment of the Gospel of John.

Agree.
But what does the church claim? Every word (which Bible?) is god-breathed.

Regardless of certain discrepancies/differences, the Lord has seen fit to preserve the Truth. This is the reason the devil always works so hard in every generation to discredit and put out its God-breathed light. We have the Holy Spirit and discernment to see how the word of God does not lie and how the new testament writings are beautifully harmonious with the old testament.

People will believe and cherry-pick what "scholars" they want to listen to, and the Lord knows why they do. Just like they cherry-pick scriptures.
