If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

So if you already have believed on the Lord, and you are a born again child of God....after that, you rest in Christ and in His finished work on the cross for you.

I'm not saying you rest in your sins. But in Christ.

Are you tormenting yourself? That is why I said learn to rest in Christ.
What do you mean you don't mean to rest in your sins but to rest in Christ. What does resting in Christ look like that you're talking about?

Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7

If you are a born again child of God, you have been forgiven. Don't keep rehashing sins that you have already confessed. The Lord forgives and cleanses you from those sins. 1 John 1:9.

I don't feel the Holy Spirit is telling me that. In fact, in my Study Bible, in the explanations in tiny letters it talks about true repentance where God brings about a change in your attitudes and behaviors and you forsake/turn from your sins. You don't do it anymore. It's not like you just confess, do it again, confess, do it again and confess, do it again. That's not what scriptures say from how I am understanding it.

I am not talking about doing that. As a born again child of God, one walks in the Spirit. And rests in the Lord.

I only said what I said because you seemed to keep talking about posting your photo online...like that was still bothering you.

Prayers are with you. Perhaps you are not understanding what I mean. That's ok. Everyone is at different levels of understanding.

Update: the only thing that is helping me right now is gradually increasing my anti-psychotic medication. My psychiatrist doesn't want to increase my medication too quickly but I am already feeling a lot better. Today I will be increasing my medication again. I hope you guys can keep praying for me, that I will have the best outcome it can be. Thank you!

so if I am in danger, now because I have a repentant heart and turned from it that God would now protect me if I'm in danger?

Thank you so much for your Godly and scriptural replies. I really need help. I ask for prayer about this and that especially God would bring me back peace. Please be kind and don't give any mean or evil replies. Thank you.
I'll pray for you.

I don't have a good answer for you, but I can pray for you to have protection.

Though I don't understand. Why would those verses I quoted be there in the OT and even I think in the NT it suggests or says to the contrary, if I just had to ''rest'' in Him and there was no repentance or forsaking of sin involved? I think that would lead to the wrong kind of prayer and spiritual life with God that He intends for us.
Sister, love is the basis that compels us to repent and obey Him. We come to Him in faith, believing on Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. It is faith in Him that makes us righteous, because He has washed us in His blood, and clothed us in HIS righteousness. Our righteousness is filthy rags.

But our response to His goodness, mercy, and love is to love Him back ....and that leads us to repentance, and obedience.

Romans 2:4
[4]Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Matthew 22:38-40
[38]This is the first and great commandment.
[39]And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[40]On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

John 14:15

[15]If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 5:1-5
[1]Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
[2]By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
[3]For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
[4]For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
[5]Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

See? 1 John 5:3 explains that when we love Him, His commandments are not grievous or burdensome ....because we do them out of a heart that is responding to HIS love.

Matthew 11:28-30

[28]Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[29]Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

[30]For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
