I personally like happy threads. Feel free to start more. It doesn't have to be limited to one thread.

I’m only allowed to post in five forums. I think one happy thread started by me is probably enough. If others start happy threads in any of the five, I’ll support them.

So many had commented recently about the now deceased happy thread being the best thread on the entire board. It was a help and a harbor in a sea of turmoil.

***

May the dead happy thread live on in the hearts and minds of those who once harbored there as they pull in now to this fledgling new harbor in search of brief respite from what troubles them.

If it makes you laugh, if it makes you smile, if it makes you happy, if it brightens your day … and if you want to help those who could use it - and who among us couldn’t use it from time to time?

This thread is intended to be a safe haven for the weary. As long as it meets and stays within the bounds of the current board rules (that’s non-negotiable), bring it and drop anchor here.

From the bridge of the good ship Jocularity, I bid thee welcome. Welcome to all and sundry. Permission to come aboard has been granted by the Captain.

* A tale from my “Don’t Ever Do That Again” file: All of my school friends loved the show. My father watched one episode and announced that he wouldn’t allow any child of his to watch it. 10-year-old me turned to walk away and replied under my breath: “No little ape of the big gorilla’s is allowed to monkey around in this house.” Alas, it wasn’t uttered sufficiently under my breath. The “big gorilla” heard me, yanked a knot in this monkey’s tail and played an unhappy tune on my behind. Count the cost. The cost was high on that Saturday morning in ‘67. (Dad always laughed whenever I recounted the story in his presence. RIP, dad.) *

fn. I don’t know why this was on my mind this morning but it it was. I revisited the post and discovered that I had inadvertently omitted a word when I typed it. I edited the post to insert the omitted word to add clarity.
