It is interesting how many are calling for martial law. The problem is this will lead to accusations of treason when the state refuses to enact a command from the president. You inevitably end with the president being removed from office.

Democracy used to be only men of influence, and you can begin to see why. Next election covid will be under control, a better control of postal voting etc in place.

Dictators will always rail against being cheated, but then if it's so safe, try again in 4 years. But that is being a traitor the followers claim, they are that nuts.

We face a dilemma of our time, communist China a super power being capitalist while also being a socialist power structure. Either we solve this, or fade away. The Soviets never made it this well. But then again categorically, universal negativity has no upside.
