I recently attended a couple of Christian School graduations, and was initially shocked by the length of skirts that are now being worn, particularly in a big city school -vs- the rural school. I think they have now reached their limit, there is no remaining room for shortening them further in the future! :) I know of one Christian school, that has a 'no more than 1.5" above the knee" rule, but that kind of thing is not happening in the larger major Christian Schools.

I have seen a whole lot of diverse ideas here, like it is improper for a girl to dress provocatively! I don't know where these old fuddy-duddies got that idea. As I viewed these provocatively dressed girls, the only thought that came to my mind, was viewing God's beautiful irresistible plan for the two to become one. These girls were definitely dressed as bait, and IMO that is definitely not morally wrong wrong in any way. That's just God's plan in action.

So, what are the Biblical rules?? When God introduced Eve to Adam . . . how long was her skirt?? <giggle>

Really have struggled with a response. You’ve thrown me a curve. regarding young girls dressing provocatively ...skirts that can’t go any shorter. often they lack knowing they have any real value beyond that which is outward. Not sure what else to say here as I am conflicted somewhere between God doesn’t care what one wears, yet if what one wears reflects what is in the heart which is brokenness...Then God does care about the brokenness and wants to heal it.

I remember one evening, I had spent the day on the beach, wasting my day, wasting my life, and I was driving home. I remember noticing that the Saturday evening service at nearby Calvary Chapel was soon to start, and I felt the tug to go.

My first thought was my salted and sandy skin and hair, beach shorts, sandals, t-shirt. But hey, this is Calvary Costa Mesa, surfer culture is almost hard-wired in!

So I went.

And God touched me. And I started going. And God kept at it. It's good not to look down on someone else for their attire.

It could be all they can muster, either financially, or emotionally, or whatever. It could be rebellion, it could be anything though not Godly. And it could be someone like me, who just happened to think, I can come "just as I am".

Hi Marks. If you don't mind me asking, before you felt the tug to go to the service fresh off the beach, had you attended church prior to that? Were you an unbeliever prior to that?

I don't mean to prod, I'm just curious on that story - it's a great testament to God.

Not to compare you, but as Jesus said in Luke 16:19-23 "
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."

I doubt the beggar was dressed appropriately according to many people's standards today, unlike Jesus' standards (thankfully).

(Even the Bible has passages such as Ezekiel 16.12, where the Lord Himself figuratively gives earring to Zion. Ear piercing is also part of the latent word imagery of Psalm 40, where the Psalmist says Messianically 'Mine ears hast thou opened'; opened = Hebrew 'digged'; i.e., pierced. The bondservant allusion is in view; and Philippians 2 draws generally from it also.)

I think, considering all our pant options, that you are just going to have to go into business making lobster pants. It'll be huge; all the celebrity's will want them and you'll have back orders into 2021.

I agree; we should partner up. Maybe we should skip selling to the celebrities and only sell to fellow Christians.

VictoryinJesus, I don't know anything about brokenness, but I do understand what it means to be a new creature in Him. Perhaps one of the greatest afflictions this age group experiences is low self-esteem, and that is not what God offers! If there was ever a mission for adults, it would be to rescue those, with a positive message, a positive goal for them to pursue.

I have a few granddaughters who are now at that age, and I can't think of much. more important for them, than to attract someone as a companion who will fill the desire God has placed within them. In my prayers, I not only pray for them, but for the unknown ones who will eventually be an integral part of their life, and fathers of my great granddaughters. :-)

There are many men in the church who wear shorts because I live in the sub-tropics, like Florida weather. It's the most appropriate and practical apparel. I wore jeans last Sunday but in a few weeks it will be back to the shorts.

Let us be frank, this is not about pants but about periods, and adequate precautions for women to stop embarrassing situations.

With modern technology this can 100% be coped with and controlled.
So women are able to wear trousers just like men. It is easy to mistake the culture about trouser wearing and dresses for dressing like men or women, rather than embarrassment over talking about periods and how women cope, and whether men are man enough to face up to the issues their wives, daughters and mothers have to cope with.

Too long men have either ignored it, or let women hide their difficulties rather than lovingly together have open conversations. 50% of the population know intimately about these issues while we men only know if the women tell us, and begin to open the door to a difficult and intimate subject, but which we need to be aware of. I'd been in and out of church but at this time pretty much out.

I had been born again about 10 years earlier, however, had pretty much returned to a life according to the flesh.

That seems like so long ago! I guess it was!

Has any one mentioned hermit crab clothing?

Think of it! Wearing an animal for clothing that is wearing the shell of another animal for clothing!

Has anyone seen a hermit crab without it's proper covering? It's a sight you won't quickly forget, and a sight you will not want to repeat!

An advantage to hermit crabs is that when they are overly handled, and feel threatened, they can grab your skin with their claws and just hold on. So you don't have to worry about your garment slipping. Doesn't that sound like fun?

(Hermit crab keeper for over 25 years. Same batch. I had no idea they would live that long!)

Understood. The OP asked about pants but in relation to short skirts which can’t go any shorter (I’m thinking of the rise of sex-trafficking) in some young girls who are vulnerable; pants would be better. Was thinking on this topic yesterday and wondering why ...when going to church...let’s assume for a moment the building is indeed His temple where we go to look our best...why do we put on the best dress and suit to be pleasing to God in our Sunday best...but seldom when entering in to the congregation, coming together ...why do we not spend as much effort and consideration on that which is within. Putting on our finest inside...in confessing to one another hidden things of the heart and truly bringing it all out into the light to be seen before others with the power to forgive sins? Is that not something we should do anymore; bring things in darkness out into the Light? Should there be any darkness to bring out into the light?

Whatever your personal views are about what other people wear, and it's mostly women getting the flack, at the end of the day we are all free to choose without having to consult anybody else and that choice should be respected whatever it is.
