What is hate, really?

Certainly there are different levels of hate. It is defined as a "passionate dislike". How passionate? Well maybe a gnawing and unrelenting passion that motivates a person to speak against another person, verbally attacking them repeatedly with insults that develop into what is referred to as a character assassination. Then the next level gets physical. Now this is not just a passing comment on occasion. Ten pages of attacks within a short time period as we have witnessed just in this one thread is hate. Hate may progress into a psychological state possessed by a person who can't seem to let it go. Negative thoughts about another person or issue continue to echo in one's mind moment after moment, day after day, and one cannot seem to escape these negative and sometimes evil and ugly thoughts. Well, again there are levels of intensity. We can sometimes quickly dismiss the thoughts and go on with our normal routines in life, take a break, a pause ... for awhile, but then they return, and continue to haunt us. I'd say that's hate. It can really become a blockage, preventing someone from being happy and having peace.

Hate is opposite of love. We should be aware of the subtleties of hate. Of course online, it's just words. But we've bullying online - that is hateful. In the real world, up close and personal, it can turn into violence.
As good and evil exist, so does love and hate coincide. We all love and hate. We are to love one another. And God is trying to influence and guid us in that direction.

Be good, be well, be positive, healthy, loving, generous, gentle, kind, hopeful, faithful, peaceful, joyful, control your emotions. Hate interferes with all that.
We must be honest that at times we hate. But we need to control it so it doesn't get in the way of our happiness. People passionately dislike something or someone and they get together and sometimes join together protest/ rant hopefully in a peaceful manner (or so we say). But are they at peace, really? What the law requires and allows is a peaceful protest - without violence, harm, destruction. But inside their hearts, even without violence, they are really not at peace, they are disturbed about something or someone ... they hate.
