Hi Bob,We've all been told that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. Why did dying on the cross save us from our sins?
Try this:Hi Bob,
Jesus was the last sacrifice to be offered as He took our sin upon Himself so we did not have to pay for them, not that we ever could pay for them with the blood of bulls and goats yearly, as those under the OT law had to do every year.
Jesus was perfect in all His ways and God demands perfection so, He died in our place to offer a new and better sacrifice, the perfect Son of God. And He said..."it is finished"
Hope this makes sense to you brother.
Jesus went to the cross because God The Father wanted Him to, because He loved us so much (John 3:16.Try this:
Once we sin, Satan could torture us forever.
However, Jesus lived a sinless life. When Satan had him crucified, he (Satan) lost his credibility and therfore lost his ability to torture us.
God required a sin offering and a sacrifice and only his Son, Jesus, was sinless and pure enough to be acceptable.Hi Bob,
Jesus was the last sacrifice to be offered as He took our sin upon Himself so we did not have to pay for them, not that we ever could pay for them with the blood of bulls and goats yearly, as those under the OT law had to do every year.

How does God prevent Satan from torturing us? Does he wave a magic wand, or has he discredited Satan by allowing him to have his (Satan's) followers kill Jesus, the man who never sinned?Jesus went to the cross because God The Father wanted Him to, because He loved us so much (John 3:16.
Satan is still around for sure, just look at how bad the world is getting, he is not yet locked in Hell for 1000 years and then be let loose for a short time. Jesus listened ONLY to His father and certainly NOT to Satan. Satan had no one crucified, our sin did, God made the final and perfect sacrifice, there is no other person, place or thing that one can go for salvation.

You have misunderstood our relationship with satan and with Jesus.Try this:
Once we sin, Satan could torture us forever.
However, Jesus lived a sinless life. When Satan had him crucified, he (Satan) lost his credibility and therfore lost his ability to torture us.
You seem to think the Lord always protects us. Is it possible he is teaching us to protect ourselves? You have misunderstood our relationship with satan and with Jesus.
As non christians we were the devils slaves, as born again Christians we are Jesus's adopted brothers.
Satan can do what he wants with nonchristians and while he can oppress and persecute Christians that is only as far as God permits.
Christians know that the devil is a liar, unfortunately non Christians don't know this, instead they believe his lies. Look at the vitriol against Christians/Christianity by atheists.
You seem to think the Lord always protects us. Is it possible he is teaching us to protect ourselves?
Does the Lord wave a magic wand, and suddenly you are there, or is there something you have to do first?Depends what you mean by protect. If you mean health, wealth and prosperity then no.
If you mean that every Christian will reach heaven then yes.
There's no magic involved in Christianity only trust in a great God as Jude says :Does the Lord wave a magic wand, and suddenly you are there, or is there something you have to do first?
We've all been told that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. Why did dying on the cross save us from our sins
So you don't have to do anything, like repent (even though he commanded us to repent)? There's no magic involved in Christianity only trust in a great God as Jude says :
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
It seems to me that when Satan had a sinless man, Jesus, murdered, he lost his credibility and is no longer able to torture us because of our sin.The reason Jesus’ death on the cross saves us from our sins goes back to the idea of blood sacrifice, which is something we see all throughout the Bible. In the Old Testament, people would offer animal sacrifices to deal with sin. Blood was important because it represented life, and the idea was that the animal's life would be given in place of the sinner’s life. The Bible says in Leviticus 17:11, "For the life of a creature is in the blood... it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life." So, when people sinned, they had to offer a sacrifice, and the blood of that sacrifice would temporarily cover their sins.
But these sacrifices were only a temporary fix. They didn’t really take away sin—they just covered it for a while. The animals couldn’t fully pay for human sin because they weren’t perfect. This is where Jesus comes in. He’s the Lamb of God, and His death is the perfect sacrifice. When John the Baptist saw Jesus coming, he said in John 1:29, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice because His death doesn’t just cover sin like the old animal sacrifices did—it completely takes it away.
In Matthew 26:28, during the Last Supper, Jesus tells His disciples, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Jesus is saying that His blood is what will actually forgive sins—once and for all. His sacrifice is the final one, the one that ends the need for any more sacrifices.
However, it’s important to remember that even though Jesus defeated Satan on the cross, Satan is not yet completely powerless. In 1 Peter 5:8, we’re told that "the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." Satan still works in the world, trying to deceive people and keep them from God. But while Satan still has some power and influence now, he has been defeated. His ultimate defeat is a done deal—Jesus' resurrection proves that Satan’s power is broken. The enemy can no longer separate believers from God. However, Satan is still active, trying to distract and deceive, but the victory over him has already been won by Jesus.
So, in short, Jesus’ death on the cross saves us from our sins because He offered Himself as the perfect, final blood sacrifice that takes away sin once and for all. And while Satan is still active in the world, he has been defeated by Jesus’ sacrifice, and his ultimate defeat is guaranteed.
trust me he is still around and causes problems, wars etc...just look at music videos today, also there are more and more satanic churches appearing. Satan Lost all credibility when he disobeyed GOD a long time ago. he can cause problems to unbelievers or believers not strong in their faith certainly. It seems to me that when Satan had a sinless man, Jesus, murdered, he lost his credibility and is no longer able to torture us because of our sin.
yes , from the research i have done the romans could get creative on how they attach someone . it was all about torture. discovered the crossbar up near the top was done to prolong the suffering ,even to make it last for days . not the case for Jesus and the other two that men .they had to be dead and buried before sun downapparently the Romans had many ways to crucify, the known T cross also the X shaped cross but also sometimes a vertical pole could be used but apparently less frequently.
I know he is still around. The Bible teaches he rules the world and is the father of lies. But Jesus has defeated him.trust me he is still around and causes problems, wars etc...just look at music videos today, also there are more and more satanic churches appearing. not to mention they had ropes across the beams by which men would help pull it up as it slid into the hole .not wanting to start a great big argument , what if what Jesus died on was not a cross ? at least in the common perceived thought. i happen to be someone that has stood wooden poles . i can be difficult the heaver they get. a trick was found that if a cross bar was put on the pole part about 4 feet from the bottom of the pole . it aided to stand the heavy ones. it acted as a handle for two extra men a place to help push it up. to see it carried to the place it would be set, it looked as the cross that was carried by the men that were to be crucified.
