GOD always desired NOT the death of the wicked but rather their repentance .
Now that should be our desire as well . We should never desire their death
but rather do all to point them to Christ . This does include rebuking even sharply

Notice that on the cross JESUS still prayed their forgivness

We have a problem today .

There are other cheap materials that roofs can be built with, i.e. metal roofs. like Kilplok roof sheeting. Your houses on the islands where you live probably have concrete block walls to support the concrete roofs, but the reason that the roofs are concrete is that when the owner has saved up enough money, he then adds another floor to his house, and he installs another concrete roof so that the house can have additional floors built at a later time. You also build with concrete as that is rust proof for the reinforcement and timber is expensive. All that you need to import to the island is steel reinforcement and cement powder as the sand and gravel can be found on the island to build with.

My experience/observation of house construction in Nepal is that many houses are of concrete construction with concrete columns infilled with soft clay bricks and the house may take years to complete their construction. I am not suggesting that the houses in LA be built using concrete construction methods like they do in Nepal.

My post was written to provide a simplified explanation as to why so many houses caught on fire and also why there was a water supply problem in the housing estates where the fire were. The solution has to be suitable for the USA conditions and constrains, i.e. building codes. I was also suggesting that the USA building codes should be looked at to see if there are improvements that can be written into the building codes.

After Cyclone Tracy, 50 years ago, research demonstrated that using nails to fix cyclone bracing was inadequate and that wood screws increased the cyclone bracing strength many times. The research also demonstrated that plywood corner bracing was also important.

Hobie, you are entitled to voice your opinion as to how LA should rebuild the destroyed houses, but the information you provide should be appropriate for the LA situation and the solution that they might adopt.

It is amazing what people can achieve when their backs are against the wall so to speak.

Rebuilding will be a slow process, and the present financial conditions will have changed when the people begin to rebuild.

The biggest issue that will be faced when the rebuilding process starts, will be the availability of builders and trades people to complete the building tasks that have arisen from the fires.

It will be interesting what God has in store for the people that have come through these fire storms. I just wonder how God will figure in the lives of the people?

You need to know construction and the cost of labor as it is getting quite prohibitive for the middle class. Someone in our family who builds homes did it completely in concrete and has it on the market for 849k, not something the average person can afford.

Well, these unquenchable fires have been hitting Europe, Asia,Australia, Africa, South America and Canada and now the US. And yet the people do not see it or even try to repent or turn from their path which ends at perdition. We will see more acts of God and cities burn in the near fùture as we come to the last days..

I had similar thoughts, but God corrected me quickly. I realized that our place isn't to judge people outside of the church. It's God's job. (Corinthians 5:12-13)

At first I said, "God I don't know who to pray for or how. We know there is evil work here. Just the children and the churches? The families? Your believers?"

And then I heard a response, "All of them just the same."

So I realized, the Bible says let God take vengeance. Not ourselves. He says to pray for our enemies and in Proverbs 24, "DO NOT rejoice when your enemy falls."

Our job is to pray for them. Many there did not. We need to. You know more than many there do about this, so use wisdom where they can't.

Well, it looks like more fires have started up, and the winds have picked back up. It's more than just climate change as they are trying to say, much more...
