Revelation 13:17-18 (666)

Okay, I am now at verse 13:17-18 which introduces us to the number 666.

I don’t expect this is going to be an easy interpretation… as many have been, but I don’t think I have seen or read any that made any sense … but I have never studied this before …

So, anyone truly interpret these two verses?

Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Here are many things:

Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.



The beast is a man (this is specifically the second beast of Rev 13 not the first beast who is NOT a man). This beast/man has a name. That name also can be converted to a number. That number is 600 plus 60 plus 6, or 666.

The mark isn't 666 and the beast/man's name isn't 666. 666 only is a number of his name, but isn't his literal name. His name can literally be counted to add up to 666.

"The Beast from the Sea" is the collective unconscious animal instinct of people, which motivates them to strive for wealth and prosperity, to create a world civilization that provides a comfortable life, access to all benefits INDEPENDENTLY of God.

This "beast" tempted the Jews to follow the interests of the flesh in defiance of the desire for the Kingdom of God that Abraham followed. The seven "heads" of the beast are 7 empires: Ancient Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and the USA.

"The mark of the beast" is the habit of lying (mark on the forehead) and the habit of stealing (mark on the right hand), this way of acting helps to achieve success in today's world.

The name of the beast is Wealth or Prosperity (see Acts 19:25): εὑπορία = (5 + 400 + 80 + 70 + 100 + 10 + 1) = 666

The world favors those who live in the name of Wealth.

"The number of the name of the beast" is any form of state registration of a person or organization in this world: ID, passport, cadastral number, tax number, etc. Having the "number of the name of the beast" allows a person to enjoy the benefits of civilization. This number, 666, is the opposite of the number 144,000, which is registration with God, in the Church - in one of the 144,000 communities throughout the history of the Church, led by the Holy Spirit (they had the seal of the Holy Spirit). 144,000 cannot be registered in this world, they do not have signs of state registration - they are not denominations of religion, or registered communities, they are purely informal associations around the saints.

"Count the number of the beast" is God's command that we find the essence of this evil and reject the universal human pursuit of wealth. Literally, this name of the beast is counted as the numerical value of one word found in the Greek text of Acts 19:25.

It is possible the number 666 might not be understood till the mark of the beast is instituted.

But it could be hinting at the burden of heavy taxation by Israels king Solomon placed upon the people of Israel.

Solomons pay was 666 kikkars of gold per year making him.the richest man to ever live.His estimate worth today would be 2.1 trillion .


Today ,Benjamin netanyahu wants Israel to be a cashless society so that he can collect taxes from swindlers who don't want to pay up.He has said he wants everyone in Israel to receive implantable microchips and will enact legislation for this purpose.He will have to change Israel's laws first.

Thanks! What I have found so far going through these 13 chapters is that Revelation entirely symbolic. God is able to give us so much more information this way... quite amazing!!!!!

Therefore, I see verses 16 and 17 as symbolic and not literal... the only thing that is literal is that he is a man... and so is the earth beast (but this does not mean "a" man, but man.

One example for verse 16 is the mention of a mark or symbol.... this is certainly not a "chip" or other kind of implant, nor is it another technology or cashless society kind of thing... this too is symbolic. And just as the Jews would symbolize their faith in the One true God by use / wearing of the tefillin, there are symbols that reveal the worship to the sea beast... one in particular is the sign of the cross.. And since the sea beast is, without a doubt the little horn of Daniel 7 and 8, and the papacy system, there are definite symbols at all levels - whether they can be found at the personal level like the tefillin, or at the societal levels and even globally. It is necessary for them to ensure that their brand if you will is noticed, promoted and sent around the world for global worship. This is just a start for me ....But it all comes down to choice - worship the false system and the false god or worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His Messiah, Jesus...

Don't interp[ret but accept and understand.

666 is the number of his name
or it will be his name

or it will be a mark.

All the guesses and interpretations sin ce JOhn wrote this are human ego driven. The world will know what teh mark is, whois the antichrist and what is his name and how it adds up to 666 in Hebrew, Greek, or English or spanish or whatever language only god knows for sure now.

There is a difference between the beast from the sea and the beast from the land. The beast from the sea is this whole world, the whole civilization, the whole world system, where the essence of every person's aspirations, regardless of their religion, is Wealth. The beast from the land is the religious tradition that adapted Jesus Christ to support the foundations of the world ruled by the devil. And this is no longer the real Jesus, but a false one, religion presents everyone with false knowledge and false piety, essentially Pharisaism. Catholicism is here equally with Protestantism and Orthodoxy. The entire Christian religion serves this world, because all carnal Christians are like that: they strive not for the Kingdom of Heaven, but for life's comfort. They serve mammon (their property) instead of God. Because the real saints have always been beggars.

Thanks. I have found the sea beast is the same as the little horn of Daniel 7 and 8 while the land or earth beast is one that has / is promoting him and their false system throughout the world.

Why do you say that? I have them both as a man - the sea beast is the papacy - the little horn of Daniel 7 and 8 who is prophecised in Daniel to continue until the end when he will be destroyed without human hands.

The beast with the 7 heads and ten horns - is the kingdom of the beast-king
The one head (of the 7 heads) that appears mortally wounded but healed - is the beast-king

The beast out of the earth is the false prophet - promoter of the beast-king.
