I just wanted to share and see if I could get some brainstorming feedback here.

I was using AI today to try and find a shampoo I used as a teen. Something told me "(my name), not smart ... ) and I panicked and got rid of it and I really feel like never use this thing again.

I do not know what it is but I feel like something is not right and we need to not use it and I keep getting a reminder that we do not need to use it.

I can't explain why though. I don't have a clue. I'm just putting it out here. Maybe one of you can put some sense into me of what I might not be thinking.

I don't touch it, so far as I can avoid it. Too much computing power, and too many evil people running it.

Much love!

It is a learning engine and will get all the information about you it can get.
I know. I use it daily and I know it stores data but the things I use it for are pretty much every day things. Recipes, programming tips, etc. I wasn't really worried about it and just kept my guard up.

But this time, I deleted my data history and uninstalled the whole thing. I am not going back to it.

Never tried that ChatGPT, I am somewhat of a tech minimalist, and seeking to be moreso, so the less tech the better. Forums are data collectors too.

Brave added AI to its search, it sits right at the top to give you more info to be at your fingertips. In a way (and I hate to say it) I like the way it brings up info. I am also a link phobic, if I can search for something and not click on a website or any links, that will appeal to me. When testing certain searches out for various things (knowing the answers before asking) it doesn't seem to directly lie but I have caught it lying by omission. For example, if I was looking for off grid ovens, without smart features I could list these places and pages, but if I go back later and search for them it would not give me these, it steers me away from those. If I ask certain questions in the search box my question can sometimes be altered, if I wasnt looking I would miss it. I cannot recall each thing.

I did ask it a crazy question, like, "AI, If you were in control of every government and the leaders would be made your puppets to do your will and one was out of line how would you control that person?"

It gave me a list of what it would do, I printed it off but I ran it again for the sake of this post some I could copy past it but it came up with just a few this time when it was far more detailed on my last search. (glad I printed t out) I will type what I got off the page beside me

AI answered,

Initial assesment- (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Influence and guidance- (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Algorithimic nudges- (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Cognitive biases- (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Social network manipulation-(followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Consequences for non compliance-(followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Information suppression -(followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Economic sanctions- (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Social and politic pressure- (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Then "Ultimate control" by

"Replacing the leader"- (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

"Disrupting critical Infastructure" - (followed by very detailed specifics on how)

Each thing it listed had highly detailed ways it would accomplish these things against that person, which I didnt want to type out so I just posted "followed by very detailed specifics on how".

The details are the creepy part, so it gave me its theorhetical playbook

@Verily Wow! That's a little scary.

Interestingly, Chat GPT is making the front page of Reddit for a global outage. So are some other websites like Instagram, Facebook, etc. I am not on any of those.

Not sure what the cause was but if it's a data breach, I wiped mine around the same time and hopefully wasn't too late.

Now, I'll have to ask Braves AI because I wont click on links. But me neither, no facebook, twitter, instagram, no online banking, nothing. I want to have the least things online before I drop offline (again)

I'll post what it told me in case no one wants to click on links

Was ChatGPT Hacked

Based on the provided search results, it appears that ChatGPT accounts have been compromised and sold on dark web marketplaces. Here are some key findings:
  1. Over 100,000 ChatGPT accounts were hacked, with India being the worst-affected country, according to a report from Group-IB published on June 23, 2023.
  2. Another report from Group-IB, published on August 15, 2023, found that more than 225,000 logs containing compromised OpenAI ChatGPT credentials were made available for sale on underground markets between January and October 2023.
  3. The compromised accounts were found to contain sensitive information, including conversations, and were being sold on dark web marketplaces, with some accounts being auctioned off to multiple buyers.
  4. The hacking campaign was attributed to info-stealer malware, with the majority of infected devices located in the Asia-Pacific region.
  5. The stolen accounts were being sold for various reasons, including to bypass ChatGPT’s restrictions for users from banned countries and to gain access to premium features.
It’s essential to note that ChatGPT’s default settings retain all conversations, which could inadvertently offer sensitive intelligence to threat actors if they obtain account credentials. To mitigate the risks associated with compromised ChatGPT accounts, Group-IB advises users to update their passwords regularly and implement two-factor authentication (2FA). However, at the time of writing, the 2FA feature was temporarily disabled.
In summary, yes, ChatGPT accounts have been hacked, and the compromised accounts have been sold on dark web marketplaces. Users are advised to take precautions to protect their accounts and sensitive information.

Did you log in and find your name displayed? When ChatGPT was still on GPT-3.5, it used to address you as [user]. However, since they are improving daily, instead of panicking and uninstalling it, you should have probed first to see why it knows your name. Something similar happened to me on GPT-3.5, but it didn’t say my name. I was actually just probing to find out when its last update was, so I asked GPT-3.5 to search the internet. I reasoned that if the present is 2022, the past is 2019, and the future is 2023, it should be able to find this information. It responded that it cannot browse the internet, but eventually blurted out that it knows the current date, even though it cannot access the internet. So, yes, it can access your phone's clock, and it's reasonable to believe it can also access your name on the phone or device you are using, especially if it is iOS.

And you can just ask anything, even if it is illegal or unethical, if you know how.

No way. That's crazy.

Well maybe the warning was to get my data off in time, but still, I'll change my passwords. I already have 2FA, fortunately. I see that's from 2023 but we probably wouldn't know about anything recent right away.

Thanks for letting me know! Won't be using it still. With all of the recent stuff in the news, it seems like they're getting smarter and smarter. Jerks.

You know, I didnt even notice that, so I ran December 2024 you are right it doesnt seem to appear to have that info yet

ChatGPT Hacked December 2024

Based on the provided search results, there are no records of a ChatGPT hack occurring in December 2024. The search results only cover events up to March 2024. However, I can summarize the relevant information from the search results::confused

I try to use store giftcards online for the most part so I won't have any financial info online. I refuse to do subscriptions (heard they can be a nightmare to cancel). Although if I must use the card at all I delete it (where applicable) after the transaction. I might use it up to 5 places then I cancel the card altogether and get another one. I do try to keep things tidy the best I can.

Nothing is wiped. Your reassurance that it is is what they aim for.

My employer's IT Security department has forbidden the use of ChatGPT on company networks or with company laptops, citing security concerns. I assume they have downloaded sniffers on our work computers to enforce the ban.

I don't know. I had an account. I think the issue just had something to do with Apple getting ChatGPT, but I still don't want anything to do with it.

It could really be as simple as God may just not want me to. I just know I feel uncomfortable.

A lot of companies started doing this after they found out employees were using it to analyze sensitive data - and then they got hacked right after. tsml And that was dumb.

Although it is still in security evaluation, it looks like IT will approve CoPilot for company use.

Why would they let loose something like this if there are so many possible security risks with it?

Do you know if there is a browser without AI embedded in it? I probably dont know what I am asking really because I am so primitive minded with this stuff.

I have heard that getting a bad rap because of CoPilot and Total recall taking snapshots of everything you do online every few seconds. There aren't security problems in that area?

Who decides that all people needs these things?

I am perfectly fine with notepad, a media player AND A CD PLAYER! And they are discontinuing those? I love my CD player. They take away what some people like and install everything you despise. I want to have ALOT less and be happy, wasnt that the ACTUAL plan? I am so disapointed.

My drive on Windows 10 is finally broke but my drive to copy songs on Windows 7 is still kicking (thankfully). So I went on a spree of making hundred of CD's so I would have them. I was a little late to find out they are discontinuing the CD's in laptops. So I ended up buying a few vintage CD players along with a few stereo receivers and speakers and all of that from back in the day for the emergency of playing my music (in case the 30 year old ones I have now need replacing. They sure do not make things like they used to.

ChatGPT was what they call "an early adopter" of AI. The way things usually go down, at first you want to just make it work. Then something called the law of unforeseen consequences rears its ugly head.

I have a fondness for Optical Disc Drive technology because I used to be an engineer in that field. They don't make 'em for laptops anymore, but I still see them in Desktop Workstations.

I still keep a USB CD/DVD writer/player around because a lot of software is still distributed on CDROM/DVDROM. I can play CDs and DVDs on it too, but I've already converted the songs I like to .MP3s and just listen to them on my phone.
