When God gave isreal the land, the land was distributed between all the the sons Ijospeh recieved two plots via his two sons

Israel eventually seperated and became 2 nations. The northern kingdom keeping the name Israel. The southern kingdom being Called Judah

The northern kingdom was taken by Assyria. At that time there were only the southern kingdom of Judah. All people no matter what tribe they belonged to were Called judean, or Jews. In Christs time, they were called Jews. And people from all of the 12 sins of Israel were living in Judah at the time.

Hence. The people Of Isreal, Israelites, Judeans, or Jews are all names that have been used to denote the 12 tribes of jacob, who had his name changed to israel.

Jesus came from the greek word Iesus, which was the greek translation of the hebrew name yeshua. Which in english, is translated as Joshua.

So Joshua is his true english name, yet we call him Jesus

Some posters here seem to feel that owning the land meant being registered as a nation. I do not think that matters. If they were there and owned houses and groves etc then they owned the land before the Jewish population flooded in. God gave the land to no one today because He will give it to believers one day. Unless you have a solid bible case that He gave it to unbelievers?

God allowed Israel to be scattered. Do they own the land when He boots them out? They will own it one day when they believe in Jesus, but that day is not now.

Israel had the distinction of being God's people. When they rejected Jesus God allowed them to be scattered all over. So historical rights do not apply for God's people. What applies is if they are obeying and believing. So as far as God goes, we can't say He brought them there yet as far as I can tell from Scripture.
