Verse 1 = "if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One."

The CENTER of the Father's Heart is = Jesus Christ, the Righteous One

Everything that is stated and True in 1 John 2:3-4 BEGINS with the CENTER(2:1) and Ends with the CENTER(2:5-6)
v.5 "But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him."
v.6 "By this we know that we are in Him: 6Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked."

the ALPHA = Beginning/Genesis/WORD/JESUS
and
the OMEGA = End/Revelation/WORD/JESUS

the Book of Hebrews begins with the ALPHA = JESUS
the CENTER of the Book of Hebrews is = JESUS Fulfills the Law & Prophets, JESUS predates the Law & the Prophets
the Book of Hebrews concludes with the OMEGA = JESUS

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." - Hebrews 12:1-2

the Entire BOOK Begins with the WORD = Genesis 1:1-3
the CENTER of the Book is the WORD that was God = John chapter 1
the Entire BOOK Ends with the WORD that is God = Revelation = 19:11-16 , 20:4-6 , chapter 21 , chapter 22

"And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light.
And they shall reign forever and ever."

Peace and Blessings to ALL who look to Eternal Life in Jesus Christ our LORD

meaning same as the above brother-more than willing to miss the bull's eye and stand to be corrected-but I can't help but think there are no failures in Hashem's yeshiva.

I could never stand up to my father's standards and expatiations-and it haunts me to this day.
God bless brother-but thank you for elaborating.

When we read the Gospel and the Apostles letters the entire Focus is on the LORD Jesus Christ, Grace , Faith and the Holy Spirit.
It is the power of the Holy Spirit in us that desires to walk in God's Holiness.

The mistake that the Jews and all religions do = elevating religion above the Creator.

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

4But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

8For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.a

11Therefore remember that formerly you who are Gentiles in the flesh and called uncircumcised by the so-called circumcision (that done in the body by human hands)— 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

14For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility 15by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace 16and reconciling both of them to God in one body through the cross, by which He extinguished their hostility.

17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. 21In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.
you're still confusing things though.

Jesus lived the perfect life.

if that's the case (which it is), then why didn't He emphasize not concerning oneself with the Commandments?

why didn't He live the example of the modern Christian lax attitude toward the Commandments?

some will say, "Oh well He lived it perfectly so that we don't have to!" or "He did all that so that we don't have to do it ourselves!"

the problem with that is that He also taught what He expected of all Christians to come, just so that there would be no mistaking His intentions - and He taught the 10 Commandments just as His Father did.

He expected all Christians to follow the 10 and His Spirit inspires and enables us to do so.

In Christ are the 10 Commandments
They reside in no other person.

What the Father wants in us is Christ = "Christ in you the Hope of Glory"
Colossians 1:27
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery,
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Notice that the scripture does not say: "the 10 commandments in you, the hope of glory"

Since the 10 Commandments are in Christ, we need to follow Christ who is our High Priest who has entered the Holy Place for us.

AGREE = "the Holy Spirit inspires us to TRUTH"

okay and how do we follow Christ if not to do what He taught His followers (Christians) to do?

I honestly have no idea what this means, Brother.

Why would it?

Is it ever acceptable for a follower of Christ to have other God's?

To have idols?

To take the LORD's name in vain?

To dishonor parents?

To commit murder?

To commit adultery?

To steal?

To bear false witness?

To covet?

Are these questions worthy of a simple, direct answer?

I don't see your observation in conflict with @M3n0r4h .Rather it works in unison.
The commands of God are written on our hearts. We obey them because we are a new creation.

No, that isn't true. The basis of Christianity is that Jesus' sacrifice totally satisfied all the requirements of the OT law, so that those people who have accepted Him as their Savior are totally free from those requirements.

The OT law is a lot more than the ten commandments.

For some people the 10 Commandments have become a 'idol' and a 'god' unto themselves.

The First Commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
Only One Man has fulfilled this = JESUS

John 2:23-25
Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did.
But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man,
for He knew what was in man.

What did JESUS know that was in man???

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."
Jeremiah 17:9-10

Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

What would you say is the most important teaching from Christ?

Something to ponder for this thread.

But when the Pharisees(not you) heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.
Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

It's never okay for a follower of Christ not to love God supremely or to withhold love from his neighbor that he would desire to have for himself.

I don't think a Pharisee lawyer (not me¿) would have been comfortable saying that. :)

Not in God's school but definitely in religion = Proverbs 30:5-6 , Jeremiah 5:30-31
The LORD is our strength and our salvation . The joy of the Lord is our strength
and His salvation is our joy .
Lambs have the LOVE OF and FOR GOD and HIS CHRIST above all upon their hearts .
EVERY WORD OF GOD , thus , IS A HONEY TO THEIR TASTE . They love and embrace
they live and walk by THE WORD and every word of the LORD is their meat .
Sadly many are falling for a love that honors sin , rebellion to GOD , trods even the DIRE NEED to believe on THE CHRIST
right under foot .
I seen a church praying David and it gave me deep chills and i felt even sick .
Now the words alone would have been no problem to me . BUT wait , just wait till ya see what they count as love and as good .
The lady leader was wearing a robe and yes the rainbow colors were on it . AND IT WERENT GODS RAINBOW either .
And she began with , OH GOD OF LOVE hear our prayer , and as one the church echoed HEAR OUR PRAYER .
DAVID they are praying to a love god that honors sins , that honors all religoins and paths as valid to GOD .
A love god that honors sins . The only , i repeat the only god i know that would ever
do such a thing , IS THE DEVIL . My goodness they were praying to satan and had no idea its who they pray too .
And yet hate the TRUTH , hate true correction , HATE THE ONE TRUE GOD AND HIS CHRIST
and yet again they do not realize this as they have fallen in love with another jesus and another image of GOD
that aint GOD , AINT LOVE and IT AINT CHRIST . I Tried to tell us the devil can say GOD IS LOVE
but has always desired the worship to be as GOD . SO he allured men through the lusts of the flesh
to all come together under unity and love , RIGHT UNDER HIM as one . THAT IS WHAT IS GOING On david .
I never seen anything like it . And this love keeps getting darker and more accepting of evil by the day and the hour
and more hateful against the TRUE GOD , HIS TRUTH , HIS CHRIST by the day and the hour .
WE ARE WITNESSING an all out delusion , a reprobation of minds forming as one right under what they think , THINK
is GOD and IS LOVE . BUT ITS HE who has always desired the worship , aka the dragon .

if we look real closely let us take note JESUS said that ye Love one another , not as the world does ,
BUT AS I HAVE LOVED YOU . AS JESUS LOVED .
And the last time i checked HE corrected any and all error he seen within them apostels and others .
Too many are quoating this and yet they have a love that cometh of the world
and it loves the same way the world does . NOT AS JESUS DOES but as the world does .
Satan can also quaote the scrips . HE knows how to say those words
but beware cause his version of what it entails WILL CONTRADICT THE TRUTH OF GOD .

and often twist and omit them teachings to suit their own carnal desires .
BUT LAMBS , WE EMBRACE ALL THINGS HE DID TEACH N SAY . Now raise those hands UP david.
IT IS LORD PRAISING TIME AGAIN .
