Other than this gift. we could repent all we want. it would not get us anywhere
Why not, please?

Please quote me correctly. Repentance is both a gift AND a responsibility. There are two levels to consider, The truth has a double edge. That's interesting and I'm not sure I've heard that said. I'm going to Google it. :)
Another interesting verse speaks of those who oppose themselves(Copied from Google)
In Acts 11:18, we read that “to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” And in 2 Timothy 2:25, Paul says that we must gently instruct those who oppose us in the hope that “God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.”
I was on my face and only able to speak one word - holy, and I eventually begged for it to stop or I thought I would die. I’m not even sure how long I was immobilized on the floor…
I’m actually not sure you would make out features anyway…He is Spirit.Both....In the OT nobody could look on God and live. No "ADAM" could do so. But in Christ we are no longer in Adam. However, God is so clothed in light..you can't make out features anyway. The light is too powerful. Meeting the Father...you are on your face.
You would have to pay attention to what people are saying here.Look Epi are you purposely distancing yourself from the public audience and their support here? You are coming up with some whoppers lately..
Where are you getting all these wild claims that you keep making? For instance, as you said in this post, 'There are many here who would try to convince you that believing a certain religiously flavored gospel turns any sinfulness or unrighteousness magically into the very righteousness of God.'
This statement is so wildly ridiculous and unbelievable no one should believe you, and your credibility becomes questionable. Who practices this doctrine anyway? I've never heard of it before. This has to be a part of your view of sin and how you have to maintain your own way to perfection, to become sinless of sorts, with your works program to salvation I guess...who knows
Please quote me correctly. Repentance is both a gift AND a responsibility. There are two levels to consider, The truth has a double edge.
Even the higher wisdom has a double edge.
The gift of repentance is through grace...allowing us to empty ourselves so as to be filled with the Spirit.
The responsibility of repentance is into righteousness. Taking a humble stance and turning from vainglory, pride and self-justification.
No problem brother....it's just that a lot of people here only see one dimension to God...so they mess up all of God's ways...upholding neither.Certainly. Sorry.
If Jesus did not pay for our sin we would be left dead in our sin with no hope..Why not, please?
Uhhh…he really isn’t looking for support from men. He’s just speaking what He’s been given to speak. I don’t see how he can help having men angry and perturbed at him. Every time God ever gave a man a message to speak, it angered men. It just did. That hasn’t changed any.Look Epi are you purposely distancing yourself from the public audience and their support here?
How many ways are there to God?No problem brother....it's just that a lot of people here only see one dimension to God...so they mess up all of God's ways...upholding neither.
it's very crucial to see the word as having a double edge....in both holiness AND righteousness.
If Jesus did not pay for our sin we would be left dead in our sin with no hope..
So I could repent. and say God I acknowledge I am a sinner and I acknowledge I have no hope. But there would be no justification for me to have because they debt is left unpaid..
Does that make sense?
You need to go to the one Mediator...Jesus Christ...to take you to the Father. The Father will tolerate NO sin whatsoever...so you will need to repent of dead religion and enter INTO Christ by having your flesh CRUCIFIED....dead. So that you might be filled with His life. How many ways are there to God?
I see it as saying…walk according to the flesh, walking ruled by its dictates, walking being manipulated and controlled by the flesh.Maybe I'm being too literal but the verse says we cannot please God while in the flesh. My guess is we can try to be righteous but we will never be pleasing to God as long as we remain in the flesh. Where am I going wrong?

No sense at all....unless through a religious scheme that justifies the flesh. You are polluting my thread with your propaganda. But there would be no justification for me to have because they debt is left unpaid..
Does that make sense?
Sometimes I still begin to think “in the flesh” means being in my physical body. But…my physical body is not good or bad. It’s just…my temporary tent.Thank you for the enlightenment. I missed the context. I love learning the truth. Thank you again!
To be righteous/doing what God sees as right, which is summed up by caring about others at least as much as we care about ourselves, is acceptable to God. It is humility and not judging and fearing God. God will accept and make a place for these men. They will be among the nations in the millennium.Maybe I'm being too literal but the verse says we cannot please God while in the flesh. My guess is we can try to be righteous but we will never be pleasing to God as long as we remain in the flesh. Where am I going wrong?
Gibberish again Epi. You speak a double talk at least, and keep altering your remarks on the same subject matter. And either you purposely will not be clear and transparent on this/these subject(s) or you just do not know your subject that well and you keep winging it along the way.Jesus calls the Laodiceans to repent...or else... The Ninevites were also called to repentance...and by a lesser one than Jesus. They indeed repented.
You need to do a study on righteousness, my friend. Get yourself a Septuagint bible....and see how early believers saw righteousness.
Believers of today are mainly indoctrinated, brainwashed...into a scheme that denies BOTH levels of righteousness..or ALL righteousness as Jesus says.
Repentance is a gift....into the higher walk. But repentance is also a responsibility that brings life out of death. There is a righteousness that is OUR responsibility. Even a child is known by his ways.
You need a lot of instruction on this ....take your time.
You are characterizing what righteousness is and isn't. Because you only know your own situation doesn't mean that others are just like you...or what you've experienced.
So you understand a false righteousness. That makes you think you know what righteousness is???
To the pure, all is pure. But to the filthy all is filthy.
Excellent except the reference to the Millenium. The nations ALL rebel against the Lord and His saints. The righteous don't come back to life until the GWT...the judgment of the nations. The 2nd resurrection. To be righteous/doing what God sees as right, which is summed up by caring about others at least as much as we care about ourselves, is acceptable to God. It is humility and not judging and fearing God. God will accept and make a place for these men. They will be among the nations in the millennium.
To actually be IN Him, walking IN the Spirit rather than just being led by the Spirit, is to be walking in His very own holiness. That is more than acceptable to God. It is pleasing to God.
Abide in Me and I in you are two different things.
Pride comes before the fall my friend. I'm also an ex-Catholic as you, although since about 18 years old....I knew of Christ and even the scriptures although I never knew till afterwards I could know him personally, and walk as him by the Spirit of God.I pray that you two can come together in love as Jesus desires.
